Some Thoughts to Share

Have faith in God. "Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and if you do not doubt in your heart but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you."

As, Jesus Christ had said, faith can move mountains. In the life of Job, we have one of the most powerful stories of faith in the entire Bible.

Job was a good, just man, a model for all of us. He was a very rich man with a wonderful family and a great fear for God, and he lived in peace and prosperity. But his idyllic life was suddenly disrupted when Satan the accuser challenged the faithfulness of God. In a series of calamitous events Job lost his belongings, his children, and his health. Through everything, Job continued to hold fast to his faith, blessing God amid his profound misery.

For a fine and bitter working together, the days where reality is moved ahead with faith at work lead us to trust divine providence. That same power is evident throughout countless lives all throughout history. Take the heartrending story of a child stuck inside a burning building. Fear gripped their hearts as flames consumed the structure. Firefighters, heroic but ineffective, could not reach the child. Below, a crowd had gathered, hearts fluttering with terror and hope. In a flurry of sheer desperation, the father of the boy, totally assured, stuck a net below. "Jump, my son!" he cried. The loving and strong father who the child trusted leaped out to the unknown.

This heartbreaking moment captures the difference between belief and faith. The child knew the firefighters would not be able to rescue him, but trusted that his father loved him, committed to protecting him — as best he could. This is the faith we want: a faith that moves us beyond fear and doubt, a faith that leaves us standing in our connection to the divine.

The Nature of True Faith

Faith goes beyond intellectual conviction. It is a trust in a divine force that is bigger than any human understanding. Belief can falter, but faith should stand strong despite times of trouble.

Faith is not a mere acceptance of religious dogma; faith is an actual engagement with the divine. It is done with prayers, meditations and a passionate approach to the higher power. These practices help us in enriching our faith and spirituality.

Faith can also be a ground for the good. It allows us to face obstacles, endure hardship, and reach our destination. We are more likely to achieve success when we believe we can and say so!

The Challenges to Faith

Are we able to discern the truth, or is our faith shaken by all the noise around us? In a world that seems dedicated to hoarding material comforts, and where negative headlines pop up one after another on screens around the globe, it is quite challenging to keep an unyielding connection to the divine.

Doubt is one of the greatest challenges to faith. And it can also bring in some doubt about God and our faith. Understanding doubt as a human experience is key. But we cannot surrender to doubt. Rather, we must see it as a way for us to grow in our faith.

The other obstacle is the temptation, the immediate reward. We live in a consummate instant gratification environment, where we prioritize short-term rewards over long-term goals. But real fulfillment comes from living with purpose and meaning. Having faith in ourselves is perhaps one of the greatest signs of inner strength.

Nurturing Our Faith

This then means you have to cultivate a daily spiritual practice to strengthen your faith. It could include prayer, meditation, reading scripture or going to services. These practices help in connecting us with the divine and establishing strong roots of spirituality in our life.

You also need to bring good people around you. Be around other believers in your faith who can lift you and strengthen you in your walk. Whatever does not help to boost your faith—stay away from it.

May he bless you on your journey of faith (because faith is a journey not a destination). It covers a lifelong journey for learning and exploring. As we grow in our faith, we will see how God's love and grace changes us.
