Chapter 76: 76) LIVE ON!
Magneto donned his red helmet with purple lining that matched the rest of his suit of red and purple gloves along with his purple cape and armoured boots. "Brothers and sisters! Today we take a step forward for our kind; enough is enough! We won't sit and watch as these atrocities occur any longer. Pyro, Sabertooth, Avalanche, get ready," declared Magneto before walking towards Franklin.
I was scared. I knew it was the right thing. to do, but I wondered if this was truly the only way. Did they all have to die? I was second-guessing myself, but their tears. Their screams. I didn't want them to haunt me anymore; I just wanted it to end.
"You ready, Franklin?" asked Magneto, placing a hand on Franklin's shoulder.
"Let's get this done," replied Franklin.
"OUR REVOLUTION BEGINS NOW!" yelled Magneto as he and his fellow mutants marched towards the facility.
With a flick of his hand, the camera at the entrance was crushed into a small ball as he pushed his palm forward, sending the door crashing across the corridor.
Immediately an alarm screamed throughout the facility as guards burst into the corridor and started firing. All the bullets fell in front of Magneto, who swished his hand, throwing the guards into the ceiling.
"Kill them all; it's what they all deserve!" commanded Magneto as Pyro and Sabertooth rampaged onwards, leaving only corpses and blood in their path.
Magneto strolled through the aftermath, and while his companions killed all the guards, he made his way to the cages.
"Don't move or he dies!" Yelled a shaking guard holding a small boy at gunpoint.
"Disgusting," muttered Magneto, and with a click of his fingers the guard's head imploded scattering blood and brain matter. He waved his hand and all the doors fell from their hinges letting everyone free, afew of them wandering out curious. "It's alright children, Franklin sent me to save you all! You won't have to go through anymore pain!" exclaimed Magneto.
The children cried and jumped in joy all surrounding Magneto leaving him a little overwhelmed.
"I want all of you to follow my close friend Sabertooth; he may look scary, but he's a sweetheart on the inside," said Magneto.
Sabertooth pulled a funny face, making them giggle before leading them out of the facility.
"You coming with us?" asked Sabertooth.
"Soon. There's one more thing I must do," replied Magneto.
"We're under attack by the Brotherhood Of Mutants, we've been compromised, elimate anyone involved with the facility." ordered a general, wearing his military outfit placed down the phone.
"I assume you run this facility?" asked Magneto.
"Hello, Magneto, care to have a drink?" asked the general, taking a seat.
"No," replied Magneto.
"I know you're here to kill me; just get it over with," exclaimed the general.
"I have just one question. Do you feel any remorse for what you've done?" asked Magneto.
The general sighed, "No. Russia, China, and North Korea are conducting the same experiments; we needed to stay as the global superpower one way or another. What was done here was for the greater good of the nation, so why should I regret anything? Almost all of those children are born warriors. I suggest you keep a close eye on what you've released," replied the general.
Magneto showed no response before levitating all the medals from the generals court and turned them into sharp needles. One by one they skewered the general to his seat as Magneto left.
Magneto exited the facility. "Avalanche! Get that building out of sight forever!" he ordered.
Avalanche nodded, walking upfront and placing his hand on the ground. From his touch a crack on the ground raced forwards, tearing a ravine between the facility, collapsing almost everything, leaving near to no trace it even existed.
7 YEARS LATER
"The Brotherhood of Mutants, a terrorist organisation composed of mutants, are gathered here today as their leader, Magneto, has talks with the government. Magneto claims the goal of this meeting is for equal rights for all mutants, to allow them to live normal lives. We will be back shortly as we get more advancements," said the news anchor.
"Magneto, we are willing to give you all of your demands on the one condition you act as protectors for our nation like the Avengers so when needed you fight for our country's safety,"
"I heard you the first time! We aren't your soldiers; we aren't weapons, yet you want to continue to treat us as such! I demand NORMAL lives, not for us to become your dogs to order around," replied Magneto angrily.
"Whether you like it or not, you are weapons! North Korea has a unit made of your kind and has taken over half of South Korea as we used to know it. Even with our support, we've barely been keeping them at bay. Even after all your attacks, we're giving you a chance, so will you take it or not?"
"It isn't just my decision to make, let me and my Brotherhood discuss it at least." replied Magneto clenching his fist.
"You have 24 hours! See yourself out."
Magneto swung the doors open and stormed off, entering his limo.
"How'd it go?" asked Franklin.
"They want us to act as protectors, weapons, but we're so close to true freedom. I don't know what to do, my friend. This may be the closest we get. Should I accept this, or are we just a slight push away?" replied Magneto.
"Everyone dreamed of being a superhero growing up, and all heroes go through sacrifice, whether it's a movie or book. You can't have everything in life; that's not how it works. At least this way we can take a leap into society and do good not just for, but everyone," replied Franklin as they left the limo and walked towards their camp on the city's outskirts.
"Look, they're back!" Yelled Vulcan.
"Did we finally win?" Screamed a happy Wanda.
Magneto giggled, "Not yet. I have something I wish to discuss with everyone," said Magneto before looking back.
Tanks, helicopters, and every military weapon could be seen marching towards them.
"Why! Why! I just asked for more time! Are we not worth a single day?" collapsed Magneto.
Franklin embraced his friend. "It's alright. We've overcome many trials; what's one more?".
"Let's fight!" roared Vulcan.
"We've got you, boss!" Yelled Siren.
Magneto rose to his feet and, with his hand, sent two helicopters crashing to the ground, exploding as everyone cheered.
"LISTEN WELL, EVERYONE! YOU MUST ALL RUN AND GO ON WITHOUT ME!" Yelled Magneto.
"No! We can fight!" Rebuked Vulcan.
"NO! YOU MUST NOT! YOU MUST LIVE ON AND CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHT TO LIVE; WE MUST NOT END HERE; WE MUST CONTINUE SO OUR DREAMS DON'T FADE AWAY FOREVER! I WILL HOLD THEM BACK FOR YOU ALL TO ESCAPE; WITH THAT, WE CAN FIGHT ANOTHER DAY! I LOVE YOU ALL, MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS." Demanded Magneto.
"NO, I WON'T ALLOW IT!" yelled Vulcan in refusal as Sabertooth grabbed him and started to run.
"YOU HEARD HIM! DON'T LET HIS DEATH BE IN VAIN!" screamed Sabertooth, tearing up as Vulcan's own tears dribbled across his back.
Everyone listening and started to run away, crying.
"Avalanche, stay here with me. I can't do this alone, my brother!" Asked Magneto.
"It's an honour to die with you," replied Avalanche.
"Franklin, what are you doing here? Run!" Yelled Magneto.
"I'm simply an old man; I won't get it far anyway, so I might as well die for good; maybe then I could meet God with a smile." Replied Franklin.
"Like you said, every hero must go through sacrifice; this is just mine. You don't need to die here with me; you must continue to guide the young ones; they still need a someone to help them along their path. NIGHTCRAWLER! GET HIM OUT OF HERE!" replied Magneto with a smile.
Through a puff of darkness, a hand grabbed hold of my own, and before I knew it, I was getting further and further away as I watched Magneto and Avalanche fight against the Avengers and military. I was supposed to guide them to the light, but instead I sent everyone to the darkness. I don't expect to reach heaven with my list of sins, but if I could just do one last thing, it would be for Vulcan. For everyone left.
I'm sorry, my friend, Magneto.
