SPIDER-MAN

Chapter 77: 77) 3 DAYS

"You've heard our story, so know our fate lies in your hands; all I ask is that I take all the punishment," pleaded Franklin.

"Please, give them a chance, Capt.," asked Quicksilver, weak and limping.

"Victor, you shouldn't be moving in your condition!" replied Capt, worried.

"No need to worry so much, Capt. I'll be fine," replied Quicksilver. "I'm not the one who you're trying to give a death sentence to," he added.

"I'm truly sorry for what you've been through, but just because you had it hard doesn't mean you should be free from accountability!" retorted Capt.

"I'm not asking to be void of punishment; just kill me and the rest jail time with hope of living normally," replied Franklin.

"You didn't force us to do anything; we will receive the blame together! I let my anger control me; it's my fault we ended up here, and as the leader, I should bear the responsibility!" replied Vulcan.

"They've tried peace once and were betrayed; this time we can do more than beat a supervillain; we can help an entire group of suppressed people and stop the experiments. We can do real change!" Yelled Peter.

"Alright, we'll let the people decide your fate. Just hope they'll be as merciful as I am," said Capt.

"It's finally over," sighed Peter, falling to the ground, his vision going black and hearing muffled voices.

3 DAYS LATER

Peter started to slowly open his eyes, being blinded by the lights and only hearing a recurring beep. Peter, confused, took off his breathing mask and heartrate monitor, sitting up on the hospital bed.

Within seconds a group of doctors rushed into the room frantic before calming down when seeing he was ok.

"Jeez, you scared the shit out of me, kid!" exhaled Tony, relieved.

"Hi Stark, but where actually am I?" questioned Peter.

"You're in the Avengers recovery room, well, the new one since our old building got kinda destroyed," replied Stark.

"What happened? I remember Capt not killing Vulcan, but after that it's all a blur," said Peter.

"You're lucky to be alive, kid. You had multiple bone fractures and internal bleeding. The only reason you could continue fighting was the adrenaline, and when that ran out, you fell unconscious for 3 days," answered Stark.

"Wait, how many days?" asked Peter in shock.

"3. That's not the worst of it! "Your aunt has slapped me and whacked me with her purse continuously," replied Stark. "I should get a restraining order," thought Stark out loud.

"I need to see her!" shouted Peter, stumbling up onto his feet.

"Whoa!" Exclaimed Stark, holding Peter and aiding him to some crutches. "Don't get ahead of yourself; until you get ready for release, you're staying here, which means no Aunt May, at least in person. Can't have a random person in the facility, and if she finds out you're a superhero under my wing! I don't want to know what she'll do to me." replied Stark.

"How is everyone?" wondered Peter.

"Well, thanks to you, most of the group survived, though we have suffered many casualties," replied Stark.

"I see," said Peter, looking towards the ground, berating himself for not being any stronger, any better.

"You did your best, kid. You saved a lot of us; look at your success with pride and learn from your failures instead of letting them take over you. You've still only 14; nobody gets everything right at that age, unless you're me, of course," comforted Stark.

"Thank you, Mr. Stark," replied Peter.

"Call me Tony," replied Stark.

"Spider-Man, how are you?" said Quicksilver enthusiastically, rolling in on his wheelchair, his legs heavily bandaged.

"I'm doing alright! What happened with your legs?" asked Peter.

"I went just a little too fast, and my bones couldn't keep up. Anyway, imagine everyone's surprise that you, a teenager, kicked so much ass," replied Quicksilver.

"Wait, everyone knows who I am?" replied Peter, frantically looking for something to cover his face with.

"Relax, it's normal for your teammates to know your identity," said Stark.

"Teammates, what do you mean?" replied Peter, confused.

"Oh yeah, you don't know. Well, in honour of everyone's efforts, we've accepted all of you into the vengers. replied Stark.

"Cool, right?" added Quicksilver.

Peter quickly grew a large smile, jumping around celebrating.

"Whoa, calm down. Can't have you injuring yourself; you have so much to do since you're three days behind." said Stark.

"What do you mean?" asked Peter.

"Well, we have to discuss pay and introduce you to all the sectors and their directors, along with your own marketing assistant," replied Stark.

"Marketing assistant?" blurted Peter.

"I may be the richest person in the world, but I don't have infinite money, and a lot of income to keep up these facilities comes from exploiting your celebrity status and merchandising you," replied Stark.

"That makes sense," replied Peter. "What about Vulcan? What happened to him and his group?" he questioned.

"Most of them dead, with only 5 alive. Wanda, the Scarlet Witch; Lightman; Birdman; and, of course, Vulcan and the scientist—all of them will undergo a trial, a chance for them to plead their case. Siren, however, is in a coma and unlikely to make it through another week," answered Stark.

"I see," said Peter.

"You finally woke up?" said Tigra, walking towards Peter on her crutches.

"Glad you're ok," replied Peter.

"You too," said Tigra. "Thank you for saving me; it means a lot, and I only hope I'll be able to return the favour one day," she added.

"No need," replied Peter.

"I've got a check-up now; let's catch up later, yeah?" asked Tigra.

"Sounds good," answered Peter.

"Do you have a good black suit?" questioned Stark.

"No, why?" replied Peter.

"Don't worry, I'll get you one. The entire team is going to the funeral and to uncover their memorial," replied Stark.

Peter stayed silent.

"I'll drive you there; well, my chauffeur will, but that's beside the point. I have work to do; you can go play video games or something." said Stark, walking away.

"Alright, bye Mr. Stark," replied Peter.

"See ya, kid, and just call me Tony," replied Stark, turning the corner.

Peter limped back to his hospital bed, lying down, staring at the ceiling.
