Chapter 69 - The Second Dream (1)
Chapter 69
The Second Dream (1)
Daylon looked up at the clear sky.
Many years had passed since he had become the leader of the Special Task Force 7th Division.
The memories come flashing back vividly.
From the first day he’d joined with Riena and Harris, to the faces of the seniors who’d given him a rough welcome.
A really long time had passed.
The seniors had died, or had left the task force due to injury, and the roster was filled with new faces.
“There’s less than a month left.”
Soon, the 7th Division will be disbanded.
Although not all of the team members are leaving, it’s still sad because they were all together in one group.
‘Heh’
He suddenly felt old.
“Anyway, Redin, how’s this kid doing?”
He hadn’t heard from Redin since Riena had told him about his capture of Terry’s right arm.
They say no news is good news.
He figured he was doing fine, but the day was coming when he would have to prove his worth by capturing Terry.
“I hope there’s some good news.”
Now that he has more time on his hands, he can go out with Redin to catch Terry.
*Pooh-pooh!*
With the sounds of the ship docking, Daylon pushed himself up from the deck.
The ship stopped and lowered to the ground.
“I… Is this true?”
“Are you crazy?”
There must have been a small commotion in the private compartment for transporting prisoners, but Daylon didn’t pay much attention.
Meeting Warden Ruckel was a priority.
With quick steps, he made his way to Burning Hell Prison. When he reached the warden’s office, he asked the secretary if he could enter.
“I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a moment.”
“Is he busy?”
“No, sir, he’s just on the phone.”
He sat down on the couch for a moment to organize his report.
“Sir Daylon, you can come in.”
“Sure.”
Daylon knocked and opened the door.
He saw Warden Rukel talking into a communication bead.
“I understand, Count Horden, as you wish.”
Rukel disconnected the communication bead and walked over to the couch.
“Sit down.”
“Yes.”
“Have you finished screening the personnel?”
Daylon withdrew the parchment from his pocket and handed it to Rukel.
“Here’s the list, and I think we can pick the ones with the best performance in the Hell War.”
Rukel examined the list.
There were some names in there that he already had lined up in advance, and a couple surprising ones included in the mix.
“I’ll take them out if they’re a liability.”
“‘No. You have a good eye for people, so we shall stick with it.”
“Understood.”
“And by the way.”
Rukel crossed his legs.
“Have you thought about who you’re going to put in the position of vice-captain?”
“Not yet.”
“Well, then, may I suggest someone for that position?”
“Have you thought of anyone?”
“I hadn’t originally, but as of today, that thinking has completely changed.”
“I’ll defer to the warden’s opinion.”
*Knock!* *Knock!*
“Sir, a guest has arrived.”
“Let him in.”
Daylon rose from his seat.
“I’ll be going, then.”
“Wait a minute. Because you’re a welcome guest also.”
*Creak!*
The door opened and Redin stepped inside.
“Captain?”
“Redin?”
“Come and join us.”
At Rukel’s words, Redin came and sat down beside Daylon.
“I have heard from Count Horden. You were successful in capturing Viscount Bothaman with his help?”
“Yes. Thanks to Count Horden, it was possible to arrest Viscount Bothaman on the spot.”
Daylon looked surprised as he listened to their conversation.
He remembered Viscount Bothaman.
He had once listened to Redin’s plan to incite him to capture Terry.
But now he has captured him.
Viscount Bothaman was only a Viscount, but he was a nobleman with almost as much prestige and power as a Count.
There was no way anyone would remain quiet in the Crane Kingdom.
“Hahahaha, it’s not surprising.”
“What are you talking about?”
Reddin answered.
“While tracking Terry, I discovered that Viscount Bothaman made a deal with him.”
“A deal?”
“The location of the Oberg Imperial Laboratory was handed over to Terry, and Viscount Bothaman was given a Black Magic Grimoire.”
“A black magic grimoire?”
“Yes. He was attempting to transfer a certain spirit to his daughter. Fortunately, we arrived on the scene before he could perform the ritual and made the arrest.”
Redin rose from his seat and bowed his head toward Daylon.
“It happened so quickly that I didn’t report it to you, I apologize.”
“No. You promised me you wouldn’t catch Terry alone, right?”
Daylon laughed and patted Redin on the shoulder for his trouble.
“Wait. If there was a deal, did you get……?”
“Yes. I found the location where Terry is.”
Rukel grinned at them both.
“Do you think you can capture Terry before the Hell War is over?”
“You can do it, right?”
Redin grinned.
“Yes. I will get him, no matter what.”

After leaving Burning Hell.
He arrived at the accommodation with Daylon.
“First of all, get a decent night’s rest. In the morning, we can discuss and formulate a plan.”
“Alright.”
He went to his room on the second floor, grabbed something to wash up with, and went to the shower.
*Chaaaahhh!*
It feels like his body is melting under the hot water flowing from his head.
“Huu….”
While enjoying this feeling for a while, he checked the Status Window.

He can see that he has grown.
Thanks to the consistent training, he is ready for the next step.
Only one more wall to go, and then he’ll be at Expert.
The level at which he can truly use an Aura Blade.
This barrier is often described in novels as extremely difficult to cross, but with a Phalaenopsis Dream, he can overcome it with ease.
“Today was the last day, wasn’t it?”
After taking a shower, he returned to his room.
He sat down at his desk for a while, because he had some work to do before getting into bed.
He whipped out a notebook that he always carried with him.
The events leading up to the Burning Hell jailbreak flowed normally, but then a series of butterfly effects sped things up.
The first Barnes to be captured after Cerberus was founded was already in jail, and Terry would be caught soon after.
The starting point is different.
It was safe to assume that the moment Cerberus began after the Hell War, it would be at war with Magnes.
“Caius Badiola.”
The leader of the Magnes
An Expert level who has reached the peak of his skill.
In order to capture a man who wields an Aura Blade so freely, he’ll need to become much stronger than he currently is.
With the acquisition of the Phalaenopsis Dream, he only has four uses left of the Copy skill.
“I guess I should get that first.”
He changed his priorities listed in the notes a bit.
When he start the War with Magnes, this is a skill to copy from an area he’ll be frequently visiting.
He also made a mental note of the Hidden Pieces he could find in those areas, and went to sleep.
[Dreaming the Last Dream].

He is iron.
His hometown is in the depths of the Hordon mines, and he grew up with numerous siblings. However, he was a bit different from others.
He could feel mana.
He began to channel the mana that flowed through nature, and over time, he accumulated it and was born into a new being.
The one who found me called me
‘Eternal Iron’
That day he left his home.
The one who took him away was a dwarf, a race known for their incredible strength. They used a massive forge to meticulously shape his body.
*Clang!* *Bang!* *Clang!*
There was a pleasant sound, and gradually his body changed. From a crude, stone-like form to one bearing elongated blade.
Ten years had passed.
The dwarf who made him could not stand the test of time. With a final hammer blow, the dwarf submerged his body in hot oil.
‘Aaah…….’
The dwarf dropped him to the ground and broke down in tears.
‘It’s a famous sword.
With that, the dwarf closed his eyes.
The roaring embers of the furnace died out, and in the cold cave, he stayed with the dwarf until his bones crumbled and were gone.
Suddenly, he wondered.
The day the dwarf first saw him, he was called the Eternal Iron. But before he died, he called me Famous Sword.
He wondered if he was an iron or a sword.
And just what is a sword?
He couldn’t find an answer to his questions.
Then someone visited the room.
When he found him, he was very surprised.
‘This is a famous sword….’
That person also called him a sword.
‘Okay. I am a sword.’
Deciding to live as a sword, he exited the cave, along with the human. He handed him over to another man.
A face with a greedy expression.
The new owner hung him on the wall. He was locked in a place called the Sword Sheath, and he spent another long time there.
But this time, he was frustrated.
The sheath was restricting, and it made his body itch. If this was life as a sword, he didn’t want to be a sword.
*Crash!*
‘Aaack!’
‘Who are you!’
‘You don’t need to know.’
The voice sounded indifferent.
The voice’s coldness made his body tremble.
Then the owner of the voice grabbed his body. He could smell the blood on his hands, and he couldn’t help but shiver.
‘I can’t believe you left the sword like this… nice to meet you.’
The new master freed him from the scabbard. In his hands, he was free, and he felt the joy of killing.
Exhilaration.
It was very enjoyable.
So this is the life of a sword: to slash, to cut, to kill. To take lives.
He traveled the world with his master, and the older one handed him over to a younger master.
‘Nice to meet you. I am Harungel. What’s your name?’
‘Hmmm. If you don’t have a name, I’ll give you one.’
‘Cairo. How about it? It’s cool.’
A lively young owner.
He began a new life with Harungel.
He was the first sword he wielded, and the first one he used to kill.
It was with him every aspect of his life.
His young master was taken to the battlefield, forced to kill at a young age.
To live.
The young master struggled through evil and hardship, surviving with him. All who sought to kill him lost their lives to Cairo.
Another long time passed.
Harungel gazed into the night sky and whispered with a small smile.
‘I am the sword, and the sword is me.’
At that moment, everything became confusing.
Am I a sword?
Or am I Harungel?
-You are…….
Then a new memory entered his mind.
‘The Famous Sword Cairo?’
A young man with black hair was picking him up from a warehouse.
The memory passed quickly.
First picking me up and fighting enemies, most recently against tentacle-like things.
An unfamiliar sensation, but a familiar one.
-You are… a sword…..
I am the sword…..
-You are a sword.
I AM THE SWORD…..
-You are a sword… a sword… a sword.
The echoing, unfamiliar voice jolted him awake.
The corner of his mouth lifted.
-You are a sword!
‘You’re talking shit.’
My name is Redin.
‘You bastard.’
[You wake up from your sword dream].
[You have obtained the Divine Sword Unity].
