Survive as a Prison Guard in the Game

Chapter 70 - The Second Dream (2)

Chapter 70
The Second Dream (2)

His eyes opened.

[You woke up from your sword dream].

[You have obtained the Divine Sword Unity].

[New Sword Unity (Beginner)]

-The beginning stages of becoming one with your sword.

-When you hold your sword, your physical abilities and mana efficiency increase.

[Sword Enlightenment Acquisition Rate 56%].

The message did not end there.

[You have passed the Pinnacle Wall].

[Reaching the point of becoming one with the sword, and the wall of the pinnacle collapsed].

*Woosh!*

A small breeze rose around my body.

Along with the cool breeze, there was a refreshing sensation, and the mana that had spread out in all directions entered his nose and mouth and spread throughout his body.

“Hmph.”

A change occurred in his body.

*Snap!*

*Crackle!*

The sounds of shattering bones and tearing muscles echoed in his ears. He felt no pain, so he calmly accepted the process.

Once.

Twice.

.

.

.

Nine times.

[Entered the stage of mastery].

“Huu..”

As he exhaled, Redin raised his hands. He clenched them into fists and stretched them lightly. His body felt much lighter and stronger.

He tapped into his mana.

His mana hole was much larger, and he could hold more of it. The channels of mana had also grown larger.

Standing up, he grabbed his sword.

He gathered all the mana in his body and focused it into the sword. The mana in the mana hole stirred, traveling around his body and gathering in the sword.

*Whiiirrrlll!*

The mana in the sword scattered like a tornado, and as he concentrated, they all began to pulsate.

The mana that had spread out in all directions converged on the sword, emitting a blue light.

*Huuuummmm!*

A small blue membrane surrounded the sword.

This is the Aura Blade that can cut through everything.

The duration was one second.

As soon as a second passed, the Aura Blade faded away, and all the mana in his body disappeared.

“Ugh!”

His entire body throbbed painfully.

He collapsed to the ground, trembling as he endured the pain.

It seemed he couldn’t use the Aura Blade yet.

Even so, he was satisfied.

After all, he had taken a step toward the Aura Blade, and if he continued to work hard at his training, he would be able to use it freely.

[What dream would you like to have?]

“Shadow.”

[You dream of being a Shadow].

[If you have this dream, you will obtain the Shadow Divinity. Do you want to dream it?]

“Yep.”

[After 180 days, you can have a new dream].

There’s a difference in the days.

Probably because of his basic understanding.

With the Sword, he has Harungel’s enlightenment, but with the Shadow, he’s starting from zero, so it makes sense.

‘Heh’

“It’s an eventful morning.”

There was a foul odor in the room.

“Yuck.”

As he reached the stage of mastery, the toxins in his body were expelled.

Grabbing the blanket, he walked to the bathroom.

He washed the blanket while he showered, and came back into the room to ventilate it. The weather was sunny, so he put the blanket on the window and went down to the dining room.

There’s no one there.

Moving to the kitchen, he took out some eggs and ham. After heating up the frying pan, he made scrambled eggs, then grilled the ham.

“Hey, you’re up?”

He turned his head to see Daylon stroll into the dining room, yawning. Bleary-eyed and disheveled. Judging by his demeanor, he must have been up all night.

“Ugh, I’m exhausted. You want some coffee?”

“Sure.”

He set the eggs and ham on the table.

While Daylon made the coffee, he started toasting the bread.

Lastly, taking out the jam, before settling into a chair.

“Enjoy.”

“Thanks.”

He placed a slice of bread with jam on top, followed by ham and scrambled eggs. Another slathering of jam on one side of the bread, then stacking it like a hamburger.

He took a big bite.

Delicious.

Satisfied, he sipped his coffee and looked at Daylon.

“Did you pull an all-nighter?”

“Somehow. Ha, ha. When you’re finished with that, take a look at this.”

He checked the document that Daylon handed over to him.

It contained information about Terry the Poison Toad.

The current estimated location was the Marne Forest.

Although the information came from the mouth of Viscount Bothaman, it was almost as if he had sent Terry there.

To capture him.

“As you can see here, the men who followed Terry out of Burning Hell are starting to turn their backs against him.”

“He went under the other two captains.”

“Yes. Even Terry wouldn’t be able to touch them, and as a result, Terry’s position within the Magnes has been greatly diminished.”

He nodded.

Despite what his followers had given him, Terry had never been able to fully absorb the power of the previous captain he’d killed.

Nobles to back him up.

They couldn’t be counted, and the one who was, Viscount Bothaman was captured. There is no one to help Terry.

Not even the head of Magnes.

He won’t take Terry’s side.

If they really cared about him, they would have taken action before this had happened.

“There are only two things you need to watch out for, Crazy Maddie, Terry’s left arm. And Terry’s tendency to lash out when cornered.”

“Yeah.”

Although Maddie’s location hadn’t been listed in the official report, she was definitely in the Marne Forest.

Oberg Imperial Laboratory.

It’s going to take someone with a brilliant mind to open the locked door, and the only person Terry can trust around him is Maddie.

“Let’s head to the site, assess the situation, and work out a detailed plan.”

“So it’s just you and me on this mission?”

“No. I’m going to call in a few more people.”

“Can I recommend one?”

“Who?”

“I think it would be much easier if we had Seria with us.”

Seria’s father.

Henry Baskervan of Brassel.

In order to get Seria to meet her father, she needs to go to the dungeons, and putting her name on the board would be a big help in catching Terry.

Plus, he can ask her about the Shadows.

“Hmm.”

Daylon nodded.

“I think Harris told me you’re good at stealthy maneuvers, so that’ll be a big help. I see.”

“Then I’ll get ready and come down.”

“Meet me in front of the teleporter.”

Daylon stood up and started to leave the dining room, but then stopped.

“Oh, and congratulations on reaching the Advanced level of Expert.”

“How did you know?”

“Your mana has been fluctuating this morning, how could I not?”

“Thank you.”

“Honestly, I’m a little worried because it’s dangerous right now, but Redin, I know you’re not the kind of person who gets overconfident when you get stronger, so I’m sure you’ll do fine. See you later.”

Daylon left the quarters.

After clearing the headquarters.

He went back to his room and packed the necessary supplies. He grabbed the sword and cloak he used the most, as well as his ID and subspace pouch.

A few other minor necessities.

He double-checked to make sure he hadn’t forgotten anything, and as he stepped outside the quarters, he saw someone loitering at the door.

Judging by his demeanor, it was the letter courier.

“Ah, there’s someone inside. There was no response when I knocked, so I thought no one was home. Here it is.”

“Thanks.”

“Then I’ll be on my way. Have a nice day!”

The letter courier left, and he opened the letter to see who the sender was.

Roswen Guild.

“I see they mailed something to me.”

He tore the letter open and read the contents.

The message started out asking for his well-being, and I read on. The gist of it was that a gift had been sent, and that he should receive it.

-Winter Merchant Troupe, Brule Port.

After burning the letter, he went on his way.

Making his way to Brule Port, he turned into the street where Winter Merchant Shop would be located.

“Move, quickly. The ship should be here any minute.”

“Yes, sir!”

The yard was piled high with goods for the Burning Hell, and he passed them and entered the main building.

“What brings you here?”

“I’m here to pick up a package.”

“The name on the reservation is…..”

“It should be in the name of Redin.”

“One moment.”

The employee checked something, then looked back at him and questioned.

“There’s a secret password in place, would you mind giving it to me?”

Before leaving the Roswen Guild.

There was a password he heard from Hedun.

“Red flowers bloom in the darkness.”

“It’s confirmed, just give me a moment and I’ll bring it to you.”

After a while.

An employee of Winter Merchant emerged with a box as long as his arm. He set it down in front of me with a grunt.

“Here you go.”

Not needing to carry the box, he opened it and pulled out the sword inside.

A single-bladed Japanese sword.

A white sword hilt with a black scabbard.

The overall length was about the length of an adult’s arm. Compared to other swords, it was definitely on the shorter side.

*Thwack!*

He pulled the sword out of the scabbard.

A pure white blade was revealed.

[You have obtained the Famed sword ‘Moonlight’].¹

It was one of the three great swords of the Sword Saint Harungel, and was personally commissioned by the war hero Harungel himself.

[Ding!]

[You have acquired the second half of Harungel’s Arcane Swordsmanship].

Swordsmanship that flows in his head.

Since it was a sword technique created by Harungel, who had achieved the Advanced rank of Expert, it required an Aura Blade to properly utilize these 2 skills.

“Soon….”

If he kept up with his training.

He’ll be able to use them in the near future.

“Time to go.”

A village a short distance from the Marne Forest.

Entering the quaint village, Seria stood in front of the tavern on the corner.

[Five Stars]

It was the same name as the tavern on the directive. She opened the door and looked inside. An empty tavern with no customers.

Inside, there was a familiar face.

“Redin?”

“You’re early, aren’t you?”

“Why are you the only one here?”

“The captain’s checking the premises. The others should be here soon.”

She closed the tavern door behind her as she stepped inside.

Seria sat down on the stool across from Redin.

She crossed her legs and looked at Redin.

“I didn’t get to talk to you long the other time, but by the look on your face, I assume you’re doing well?”

“What are you so grumpy about?”

“You promised to let me meet my dad, and I haven’t heard from you in months.”

“That’s why I called you.”

“What?”

“Because if you make good on your part with this one, it’ll look good on the top, and if you keep building from there, you’ll achieve what you want.”

“You don’t think I’m going to forget about it?”

Redin yawned.

“You promised.”

She hadn’t had time to talk to Redin since he’d taken over the power to manipulate shadows, so she’d assumed he’d forgotten.

Because people are naturally prone to forgetting other people’s things.

“I’ll make sure you see him.”

She remembered the day he asked for the Power of the Shadow.

Redin held out his hand, looking more confident than anyone else. Her face flushed at the memory.

Seria lowered her head sharply.

“Are you moved?”

“I am so moved to tears.”

*Heh!*

Redin laughed softly.

“By the way, I have a question for you. I can feel the power of the shadows stirring, do you know what it means?”

Seria looked up again.

“Excuse me?”

“The shadows are stirring.”

“That’s ridiculous…..”

It’s what happens when a shadow craves more power. It also meant that he was fully recognized by the shadow.

“So what does this mean?”

“It means that you are the chosen to challenge the Shadow King, a status that those who wield the power of the shadows aspire to reach.”

Until now.

The only people recognized by the Shadows were the direct descendants of House Baskervan. Only the direct lineage could reach the level of Shadow King.

“You’re not really my father’s hidden son, are you?”

“I’m not.”

“But how can you do that!”

“Well…….”

While Seria was in shock.

*Creak!*

The door swung open to reveal Daylon, accompanied by Vice-Captain Riena and Heather, the members of the Special Task Force 7th Division.

Standing in front of them, Daylon cleared his throat.

“Well, it looks like everyone’s here, so let’s start strategizing, shall we?”

TL/N

1. Difference between Famous Sword Cairo and Famed Sword Moonlight.

Famous Sword = This phrase implies that the sword is widely known and recognized by many people, possibly due to its appearance in stories, legends, or historical events. Since Cairo was the first sword use by Harungel from a young age to his death its appearance and description of the Sword is widely known by people in the Bern Continent hence in previous chapters Redin often hide it or bought a secondary sword like in Ch #45

Famed Sword = It suggests that the sword is well-known or renowned, often due to its history, the deeds associated with it, or its legendary status. After being created after Harungel commissioned its creation and its unique design, it gained its own history whenever Harungel used it in Battle.
