Chapter 76 - Cerberus (3)
Chapter 76
Cerberus (3)
The Third Prince of the Kingdom of Ravino.
Fabian the Bastard.
Fabian was well aware of the nickname he was called, and he didn’t really care, because he’d been living like a rascal for so long.
He was used to being hated.
“Waaaaaah!”
“Go, Third Prince!”
So hearing the cheers from behind him wasn’t something he could get used to. Pointing their fingers at him and calling him an incompetent and garbage.
“What a bunch of scumbags.”
“Do I look so easy to you, being distracted in the middle of a duel?”
Fabian turned his gaze to the woman in front of him.
A disciple of the Swordswoman.
Adela.
She ran up to him quickly and swung her sword.
Her movements seemed to dance with her mesmerizing appearance.
Sharpness contained within softness.
Fabian lightly dodged the attack, admiring Adela’s face. Adela frowned at the sickening smile.
“Please don’t look at me like that.”
“Why don’t you come into my bedroom tonight, I could make you cry.”
Adela answered with her sword.
The deadly blade aimed for Fabian’s throat.
*Swish!*
Fabian chuckled as he easily dodged Adela’s sword.
“I hope you were able to use your mana in this Hell War. Otherwise, you won’t beat me.”
“…….”
“No. Well, maybe I could offer you this. I can lose to you if you promise to come into my bedroom, how about that?”
“You’re being vulgar.”
“I’m being honest with my feelings.”
“The King of the Ravino Kingdom must have a lot on his mind.”
“Crassly’ messing with my parents?”
Fabian was the first to raise his sword.
He strode forward, parrying all of Adela’s strikes that were coming at him from the front.
An agitation of emotions.
Adela, sensing it, unleashed a power she’d kept hidden until now. Her sword split into dozens of prongs underneath her fancy footwork.
A colorful flower produced by the lichen and herbs.
As the petals fluttered in the wind, Fabian’s face was revealed, the sharp tip of his sword pointed at Adela’s neck.
“I told you, you’ll never beat me unless you use your mana.”
“What are you talking about?”
“If you want to know, come back later tonight. We can talk all night and maybe I’ll tell you.”
“Till the end!”
Retrieving the sword from the gnashing Adela’s neck, Fabian walked to the center of the arena.
“The winner of this epic hell war has been determined, Fabian Ravino of the Kingdom of Ravino!”
“Waaaaaaaaaaaah!”
“Awesome!”
“Then let’s get right to the awards ceremony, and this year, the award will be presented to the winner by Warden Rukel of Burning Hell.”
A podium was set up at one side of the arena.
Upon it stood Rukel.
His white-washed hair and the black uniform of Burning Hell’s emblem, with the Cerberus emblazoned on it, made for an imposing sight.
An unusual aura radiated from him as he walked with a straight back.
“Before we present the award, let me tell you a little about Rukel. Fifteen years ago, he personally captured the perpetrator of the Bridio tragedy that shocked all of the kingdoms, and he’s done a lot of good since then, capturing the head of the seventh largest criminal organization, Brassel.”
There was a murmur of admiration from around the arena.
Rukel gave a small smile and nodded to the host.
“Now then, we will proceed with the awards ceremony. First up, the third place winner of the Hell War…….”
A man walked out of a nearby waiting area and stood in front of Rukel, who held out his hand.
“Congratulations.”
The man shook his hand nervously, then took the medal from Rukel and descended from the podium.
Following him, Adela took her medal.
“It’s a shame”
“I just wasn’t good enough.”
“I hope today will motivate you to improve and grow as a person.”
“Thank you.”
Adela descended, glancing at Fabian in front of her as she walked to the waiting area.
Fabian licked his lips at the look in her eyes.
“It’s a tease.”
“And finally. It is time to present the award to the winner of the Grand Hell War, Fabian Ravino.”
Fabian walked slowly up to the podium. He straightened up as he saw Rukel standing in front of him.
“Why do you have to be the one to present this award, Rukel? Tsk. One of the kings of the six kingdoms should have come out like last year.”
“It was just a matter of time before it was my turn.”
Fabian smirked.
“This time, no one from Burning Hell even made the cut. Are you sure they’re qualified? No matter how I look at it, I don’t think so.”
Rukel took it in stride.
During his time as a prison guard, he had heard many bitter words from nobles.
It had made him tolerant.
“Congratulations on your victory in the Hell War.”
Fabian took the medal from Rukel’s hand and sauntered down to the foot of the podium. The corner of his mouth twitched up as he felt all eyes on him.
“This doesn’t feel so bad, huh?”
As he made his way to the waiting area, the waiting servant came up beside him.
“Prince, you are the best!”
“Enough. I want to get wasted tonight and then get a woman into bed, so make all the arrangements.”
“Got it.”
Rukel’s voice reached Fabian’s ears as he made his way out of the arena.
“Before we wrap up the Hell War, there is a matter that has been decided at the meeting of the Six Kingdoms that I would like to discuss with everyone.”
Fabian smiled.
He was reminded of what the man named Daylon had told him before he joined the Hell War.
“Aren’t we leaving?”
“Wait.”
Fabian sat down in the seat in front of him and looked at Rukel.
“I’ve started a new organization in Burning Hell. The name of the organization is Cerberus. Its goal is Magnes.”
Rukel stopped and took a breath, looking around at the communication orbs of the six kingdoms and the people who occupied the stadium.
“I’d like to introduce you to the captain and vice captain who will lead that organization today.”
At Rukel’s signal, two men stepped up to the podium.
Daylon and Redin.
They saluted to Rukel, then looked out at the stadium and saluted again.
“At ease.”
At Rukel’s command, Daylon and Redin lowered their hands.
“These are the captain and vice-captain of Cerberus. They will be the first to move to capture Magnes.”
“In addition, a few days ago, they succeeded in capturing Terry the Poison Toad, one of the captains of the Magnes organization, so I’d like to take this opportunity to recognize them for their efforts.”
The secretary came up to Rukel’s side and handed him over the rank insignia and medals. Rukel pinned them on Daylon and Redin himself.
“I hereby award you, Daylon, a fourth-class prison guard, the Medal of the Highest Order of Burning Hell with a first-class promotion, and you, Redin, a sixth-class prison guard, the Medal of the Highest Order of Burning Hell with a second-class promotion.”
Rukel handed them their Michaels.¹
“Tell me your brief remarks.”
“We will create a world where criminals fear to sin.”
Daylon finished briefly, then handed the microphone to Redin. Redin fiddled with it, then brought it to his mouth.
“I’ll work hard to follow the leader.”
Fabian smirked at Reddin. There was only one way to accomplish that much at such a young age.
Driving performance.
Sure, he might have been there to catch the poison toad, but the important work would have been done by others.
‘Those mongrel bastards are too busy making sure they take care of their own children…….’
Fabian clicked his tongue and stood up.
Redin looked at him and brought the microphone back to his mouth.
“And it’s a shame I wasn’t able to participate in the Hell War, because if I had, I would have won.”
Redin’s eyes were laced with mocking.
The corner of Fabian’s mouth twitched.
“What a dog mongrel….”²
Gritting his teeth, Fabian drew his sword and pointed it at Redin.
“If you’re so confident, why don’t you join me right now?”

“Woooooooooooooo!”
“Prince, show him his place!”
“How dare you disrespect the Ravino Kingdom!”
Fabian stepped onto the ring with a triumphant face as the people of the Ravino Kingdom shouted their jeers from all sides.
Daylon, watching from the sidelines, tapped him on the shoulder.
“Why did you even provoke him?”
“If he comes into the organization looking like that, he’s going to think he’s someone great, won’t he listen to me if I smash his head in before then?”
“You’re not wrong about that, but…… Well, if you’re going to do it, do it right.”
“Yes.”
He stepped down from the stage and stood in front of Fabian.
The third prince of the Ravino Kingdom.
There was a clear disregard in his eyes.
“You think you can beat me?”
“Of course.”
“You’re short with words?”
Does a guy who doesn’t even act like a prince want to be treated like one?
Fabian radiated a murderous energy.
No more than a child’s.
“You think you can get away with disrespecting royalty?”
“From what I’ve heard, you’re a nobody to King Ravino. Isn’t that enough to make you an outcast?”
The corners of Fabian’s mouth twitched.
“Just looking at you, you’re all talk. Isn’t it a lie that you’ve captured the captain of the Magnes?”
Fabian was not alone in thinking this. No doubt the other nobles were thinking the same thing.
In the game, Khan had shown Burning Hell’s power in the Great Hell War himself, but now there was no one to do so.
So he created this board.
To show everyone in person.
“Starting now! Event Match…….”
He turned to Fabian, listening to the commentator’s increasingly agitated words.
“It’s no fun to just fight, so let’s make a bet on this event match.”
“A bet?”
“Whoever wins gets a wish.”
“If I win, you die.”
“If you’re scared, you don’t have to do it.”
“I’ll make you regret it.”
They separated from each other to start the match.
“And now, let the match begin!”
Fabian’s eyes narrowed at the commentator’s shout. If he wasn’t moving in first, then he was waiting for Redin to attack him first.
Fabian’s ability.
Prediction.
The deceptive ability to see where an opponent’s attacks will come from, to tell which ones are real and which are fake.
It was the reason why Adela, Disciple of the Swordswoman, could only lose.
Hell War is a purely martial arts contest with no mana. It was only natural that she would crumble before Fabian’s ability to see through her opponent’s moves.
But even with that ability, Fabian was defeated by Khan.
He walked slowly.
“There are some kids who have good parents and think that makes them better.”
“What?”
“The one thing they all have in common is that they can’t appreciate what they have, and they’re too busy complaining.”
Fabian wrinkled his nose.
“Are you talking to me?”
“Think about it. If you hadn’t been born a prince, do you think you would have had such luxuries?”
A smile tugged at the corners of Fabian’s mouth.
“I’ve seen a lot of bastards like you, jealous of what they don’t have. The world isn’t fair, asshole.”
“You think I’m jealous of you? This explains why you’ll lose.”
He stomped the ground and rushed toward Fabian.
It wasn’t even worth drawing his sword. Instead, Redin thrust out his right fist, catching him dodging.
As expected.
Fabian scrambled to dodge the punch.
In the interim, he moved his foot and twisted the guy’s center of gravity.
“You!”
Predictions are useless when one’s center of gravity is off. He reached out with both hands and grabbed Fabian’s head.
“You can’t dodge this, can you?”
Exactly what Khan had done.
He slammed his head into the ground.
*Bam!*
The sound of a broken nose, and blood streamed down Fabian’s face. This time, he grabbed his head with his left hand and made a fist with his right.
*Pow!*
*Thud!*
*Pow!*
“S… Stop!”
“If you had been grateful for what you have and worked on your abilities, you wouldn’t be in this situation.”
“Keuk…..”
“What’s the point of having a talent, it’s just a pearl necklace on a pig’s neck.”
Spitting up blood, Fabian bit his lip.
“I am the Third Prince of the Kingdom of Ravino! You think you can get away with this!”
Instead of answering, he swung his fist.
*POW!*
*Wham!*
He threw Fabian to the ground as he collapsed helplessly, then brushed the blood off his hands, straightened his clothes, and looked at the communication beads of the six kingdoms.
There was no response from the Ravino Kingdom’s orb.
Silence.
Even though it was called the Hell War, they were willing to let it slide even though a prison guard had unilaterally beaten the Third Prince.
-Please take care of him in the future.
The communication bead disconnected with King Ravino’s words.
He feel sorry for Fabian.
He went a little overboard to send a warning to the nobles working with Magnes.
This will let them know.
That no matter which noble they are, he will not be deterred.
“I hope we get along well.”
