Chapter 81 - Archmage's Desire (1)
Chapter 81
Archmage’s Desire (1)
Two weeks of training have come to an end.
“Ugh. I’m dying!”
“Is it over? Please tell me it’s over.”
Drenched in sweat, the new recruits were sprawled out on the ground, breathing heavily.
The final training session has pushed them to their limits.
Only eight people survived to the end. The rest were unable to keep up and were sent back to Brule Harbor.
The training process was rigorous, as they had to select the most talented people in a short period of time.
Still, there were two more than he had initially expected.
Looking around at the rest of the group.
All of the people who had distinguished themselves from the beginning were still intact. With that, he signaled the end of the final training session.
“Training is now finished. Good work everyone.”
“Is it really over?”
“The vice-captain said it’s over.”
“It’s over!”
The new recruits are full of elation.
Knowing the intensity of their training, he decided to give them a well-deserved break.
“Tomorrow morning, you’ll go straight to duty. Get a good night’s rest tonight, and I’ll see you in the morning.”
“Understood.”
He turned to walk back to the villa, and the new recruits dragged their weary bodies to their feet and saluted.
“Salute!”
At first, he didn’t expect them to respect him.
As the training progressed, the attitude of the new recruits also changed.
Now, it’s like they’re actually part of Cerberus’ organization.
“Salute.”
After saluting, he proceeded to the villa.
When he got to the top level room, he found Daylon, who had arrived first, organizing some documents.
“Are you done with the training?”
“Yes.”
“Good job.”
He sat down across from Daylon.
“But what are you doing?”
“We just got some more information on Magnes. You should also review it.”
He handed over the report.
Information from the 2nd and 3rd Division in charge of Pierre and Hekan.
-A group of people from Pierre have begun to gather around Magnes’ territory.
-In Hekan, forces are beginning to congregate around Magnes’ territory.
There was also information from the 1st Division in charge of Magnes.
-Brown Bear and Fire Ant are missing.
With Pierre and Hekan targeting their organization, there’s only one explanation for their absence.
“Were they going to meet with Caius?”
“Is that a guess?”
Not guessing, but definitely going to see him.
Pierre and Hekan.
The other seven major criminal organizations.
Because they all have roots in the Orberg Empire.
The leaders of each organization are descendants of the families that supported the Orberg Empire, and they made a covenant not to attack each other’s territory.
But that arrangement has been broken.
-Magnes…… They didn’t want to revive the Orberg Empire, so it was forsaken.
This is what the game depicts.
The revived Oberg Empire.
There was no Magnes organization in it.
For some reason, Caius didn’t want to work with the Darkness Seven, so it came with a conflict with the other criminal organizations that were in favor of the resurrection.
Burning Hell and other criminal organizations.
The original story was that Magnes, caught in the middle, would be unable to use their power and collapse.
“Don’t think too hard about it. Just think we’re lucky.”
It was as he said, there was nothing to be worried about, but there was something about it that gave him a strange sense of foreboding.
The timing of Pierre and Hekan’s movements.
In the game, he doesn’t know what time they moved, but they started to make their movements at the same time that Burning Hell made theirs.
It was so exquisite.
It was just a little bit off-putting.
“The timing seems really weird.”
“There’s nothing strange about it. When we announce that we’re going to strike Magnes, Pierre and Hekan decide to jump in, too.”
Although it’s not wrong, it doesn’t resolve the uncomfortable feeling. This is something he needs to think about personally.
When he finished organizing his thoughts, he looked at Daylon.
“So we’re still going to go ahead with tomorrow’s operation?”
“Uh, exactly.”
“Okay, then I’ll pass along the staffing plan as we’ve already organized it.”
“Right.”
Daylon stretched.
“Oh, and the Swordswoman is to be assigned as an interrogator. You should know.”
“You mean the sword lady?”
“Only verbal torture. We’ll have our work cut out for us when we capture Caius, so consider it a favor.”
He nodded.
“Then I’ll go ahead and meet with Seria and Rebecca.”
“Good luck with that.”
“Yeah.”
As he left the room and walked down the hall, he made eye contact with Seria, who was coming down the hall just then.
With a gesture, he called out quietly.
Glancing around, Seria stopped in her tracks and approached him.
“Why? What is it?”
“I have a favor to ask.”

Early morning.
Seria pushed herself out of bed. She stretched, then went to the bathroom to wash up.
Drying her hair, she glanced at the uniform hanging to one side.
It was the same uniform that Daylon and Redin always wore. Special uniforms that only those who had joined the Cerberus organization could wear.
She changed into the uniform and stood in front of the mirror.
‘Finally…..’
Seria thought of her father in the underground prison. This uniform was the beginning of her journey there.
“Huu….”
She exhaled heavily, then grabbed her weapon and stepped outside. Outside the villa, Cerberus’s newest recruits were gathered, all of them ready to go.
It wasn’t long before Daylon and Redin appeared.
“Salute to the Captain!”
Redin shouted, and everyone assembled outside raised their hands.
“Salute!”
“Salute.”
“At ease.”
Daylon looked at the assembled group, his expression grim. None of his usual playfulness was visible.
“This mission will not be easy.”
The head of an organization.
They were on their way to capture the head of one of the continent’s most powerful criminal organizations.
“The training you have received has only scratched the surface of what is to come, and there will be many more dangerous and difficult situations to come, but know this.”
“…….”
“You have been chosen. The Kings of the Six Kingdoms believe in your talents and have offered you a tremendous opportunity. Believe in yourself, you are more than capable of fulfilling this mission.”
“Yes!”
“Then all of you go to the boats.”
At Daylon’s command, all of Cerberus mobilized into action.
The same boat they had traveled on to get to this island.
Once everyone was on board, the boat set sail. It moved swiftly through the sea fog and waves.
“Listen up.”
Redin called their attention.
“On this mission, we’ll be working in two groups. Fabian, Adela, Hugo, Luke, and Seria with me. The rest of you will move with the captain.”
Seria turned her head to look at her group.
Right next to her was a man who made no secret of his murderous intent as he glared at Redin.
Fabian, a bastard from the Kingdom of Ravino.
The woman next to him, looking at Rebecca with a worried expression on her face.
Adela, the next leader of the Moon Palace.
Sitting next to Adela is a silver-haired man who yawns loudly.
Hugo, a son of the noble family of the Kingdom of Carvin.
And finally, Luke, Paladin of the Holy Empire, with his hands clasped together in silent prayer.
“Some of you know who each other is, and some of you don’t. Forget the past as long as you are in Cerberus.”
“Yes!”
After hours of traveling, the ship arrived at the harbor of Brule. Daylon disembarked and led his group away.
Redin followed close behind.
As Seria walked behind, she recalled the conversation she had with Redin the previous day.
‘What favor do you need?’
‘I want you to take the teleporter to the Kingdom of Ravino, and then I want you to inquire where the captain’s party went.’
‘The captain’s side?’
‘Yes.’
‘Why?’
‘To find out if there are any potential spies.’
‘Is there a spy?’
‘Just to be on the safe side.’
“If there really is a spy, they’re going to be passing on information. Besides, if we don’t have one and they do, how are we supposed to be able to tell?’
‘I’ll explain that later.’
It would be best if there were no spies.
And if there is, who would it be?
Seria glanced at the group and then moved to the teleporter.
Redin, who was ahead of the group, announced their destination.
“Barama the White Commander, Kingdom of Ravino.”
“Position set.”
“Let’s go.”
Redin stepped into the teleporter first, followed by the rest of the group, who watched him disappear into the teleporter.
Seria followed suit.
*Whoosh!*
In a bright flash of light, Count Barama’s estate appeared. A land the size of a normal city. Many people were coming and going within it.
Seria walked toward the assembled group and opened her mouth to ask the question they had discussed last night.
“So, where did the captain go?”
“He went to check on Fire Ant’s side down by Lake Reno.”
“Then we’re…….”
“We’re going to Brown Bear’s location.”
Seria scanned the group’s expressions.
‘I don’t think any of them look remotely suspicious…….’
Redin checked the time, then looked at the group and spoke up.
“It’ll take us about half an hour to meet the informant and return. I’ll give you some time for personal maintenance, so those of you who need to rest can do so, and those of you who need to buy something can make the necessary purchases and then we’ll see you again.”
“Understood.”
Redin turned and disappeared into the street.
“I’ll visit the church for a while to see if there’s anything we might need.”
Luke, Paladin of the Holy Empire, was the first to leave. Using the power of shadows, Seria planted an eye in Luke’s shadow.
“Then I’ll…..”
“I’ll see you later.”
The rest of the group exchanged glances, then left one by one. Seria remained where she was, planting an eye in each of their shadows.
She watched them.
Watching for any suspicious behavior.
‘Try not to get caught.’

He pretended to be on his way to meet an informant and blended into the crowd. He watched them from a distance.
The group scattered.
Seria closed her eyes as she remained alone.
Last night, he asked her to do several things, to use the power of the shadows to keep an eye on the group.
If they have a spy on the inside, they’ll put this opportunity to good use.
“I should go too.”
County Barama.
He came here for two reasons.
If there is a spy, to give them time to hand over information. And secondly, to get a hidden piece to make up for the lack of skill he has.
“Status.”

Talent F.
Having reached a level that is too high for his talent, He’s reached a point where his talent can’t keep up with the growth rate of his mana sockets.
Mana Stones in the beginning.
With Monster Souls in the second half.
Although this solved the problem of mana pool growth, neither mana stones nor monster souls could solve the problem of reaching the level of Mastery.
It has been a few weeks since reaching the realm of the Transcendent Horizon.
Despite training regularly in the morning, the size of his mana sockets hadn’t grown any larger than a fingernail.
Therefore, he needed a Hidden Piece that would force his mana sockets to grow, and he could find it in the County of Barama.
“Archmage’s Desire.”
He must acquire it.
