Survive as a Prison Guard in the Game

Chapter 80 - Special Training (3)

Chapter 80
Special Training (3)

New update for the Burning Hell expansion.

After a long time since the game’s last update, from a company that’s been criticized for their lack of updates, its remaining players were really looking forward to it.

It was the same for him.

Staying up all night waiting for the patch to finish, in case it was an early one, he finally logged into the game as soon as it was done.

And then he got a big shock.

The words that came out of his mouth are still fresh in his memory.

‘Crazy bastards….’

It wasn’t just a simple regional update.

No, it was a massive update.

So much had changed on the Bern Continent since the update.

The Demon Gate opened in the Burning Hell Prison.

The core storyline is that demons came to the continent through that gate, and the Demon Church, with demons at its back, emerged into the world.

The balance of power on the continent had changed to match this storyline.

The six kingdoms that ruled the continent were all destroyed by the demonic church and united under the name of the Six Kingdoms.

There were many other significant changes.

One of the most memorable was the return of the Oberg Empire, which had disappeared with the fall of Season 2.

-When the Oberg Empire collapsed, the survivors of the empire went to the shadows and formed a criminal organization to survive.

-Over time, the criminal organizations eventually consolidated into 7, which became known as the 7 Major Criminal Organizations.

This was in the setting that was released with the update to the Burning Hell expansion.

The organization that united them.

‘Darkness Seven’.

The group to which Immortal Bahad and Black Hand Marek Casino belonged.

-The Darkness Seven united the criminal organizations and proclaimed the resurrection of the Oberg Empire.

The revived Orberg Empire, along with the Six Kingdoms and the Demon Church, had taken over parts of the continent.

The sheer volume is staggering.

This wasn’t an update to Burning Hell, it was more like a cataclysmic patch to the Bern Continent, bringing a variety of quests and revealing new information.

Among them was one about Magnes.

As players progressed through the quests for the Oberg Empire, they would often get information about the Magnes.

The movements of the Brown Bear and the Fire Ant.

How they were captured by Burning Hell.

What happened to the leader of the Magnes, Caius.

The list goes on.

Throughout the process, various noblemen’s names were mentioned, but not once was Count Dante’s name ever mentioned.

“Count Dante…..”

Daylon said he was dangerous.

‘I had some information about Count Dante’s ties to Brown Bear, and I’ve been trying to dig into his background ever since, but all the members of the task force attached to him have disappeared without a word.’

Even within the Kingdom of Ravino, not much is known about Count Dante, so finding information about him is like trying to pick a star out of the sky.

The fact that he’s never mentioned in the game means one of two things.

He was either a fake.

Or he’s operating under a different name.

Among the people who worked with Magnes were some who used aliases, so he could be one of them.

“In the end, I guess I’ll just have to dig the information up myself.”

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t deduce anything from the little information he was given.

A person to watch out for.

He kept that much in his memory and erased it. It’s a waste of time to worry about something without an answer.

*Oohh!*

-Redin, there’s a huge problem!

Heather’s urgent voice in his earring made him spring to his feet.

“I’ll be right there.”

After roughly organizing the parchments on his desk, he left the villa and made his way to the training grounds in the woods.

The new recruits were gathered.

“Don’t you hear me! I’m telling you to stop!”

“Who the hell are you to interrupt, instructor, and do you know who I am?”

As he approached the group, he saw two men with bruises on their faces from a fistfight.

Next to them was Seria, who was biting her lip with a look of recognition on her face.

The situation immediately made sense.

The two were fighting, and Seria was trying to stop them, but apparently her efforts resulted in the opposite effect.

He looked at the two boys, who were fighting.

Their heads must have gotten big again from passing the first round of training, because they both had the standoffish look in their eyes.

He recognized them from his memory.

The last ones to pass the first round of training. The ones he was considering eliminating, but decided to observe them until the second round, so he let them pass just to give them a chance.

“You two. Remember what I told you before you came in here?”

The redheaded recruit on the left opened his mouth.

“You told us to respect our superiors, who are former prison guards.”

“You know that, but why didn’t you guys listen to what she was saying and ignore her?”

“”Because she’s not our commanding officer.”

“That’s why you disrespected her?”

*Smack!*

He slapped the guy across the cheek.

The redhead’s face flushed with reddened cheeks.

Humiliation.

A hint of anger in his eyes.

“Fuck…. this…..”

“I told you, while you are here, act accordingly. You’re not a noble, you’re all brats here to be trained, you can’t forget that.”

He met those piercing eyes, and the corner of his mouth lifted.

It was time to reassert his authority.

“Drop to your knees.”

“…….”

“Get down, bastard.”

The redhead clenched his fists, trembling softly. He wanted to defend his pride against the gazes he felt around him.

“I am the son of Count Hurafen of the Kingdom of Crane….”

“Whatever.”

Watching the redhead straighten his back and squaring his shoulders, he drew up his mana. Then he kicked him in the calf hard.

*Crack!*

With the sound of breaking bone, he fell to one knee.

“Arghh!”

He crouched down, glowered down at the redhead.

“I don’t care whose bastard you are, as long as you’re in Cerberus, all you have to do is listen to our orders.”

“…. I’ll leave.”

“What? If you have a problem with that, get lost. I won’t hold on to you. Even without a bastard like you, it won’t hinder what we’re doing.”

“You’re going to regret treating me this way….”

“I’m sick of that line.”

He only passed with his consideration anyway.

No need to hold on to him.

“Just get lost.”

“Who are you to decide!”

“Didn’t I already tell everyone this, if you don’t like it, just leave.”

The guy stood up on one foot and grabbed him by the collar.

“Who do you think you are, call the captain.”

The way the red head grabbed him and growled at him, made him a little angry.

Does this asshole have no respect?

He reached out and grabbed him by the neck.

Rising to his feet, he hoisted him to his feet.

“Kuck!”

The further he struggled, the stronger his grip became. Watching him squirm and turn blue, he snapped.

“Since you went to Burning Hell for business, you’ll have to stop by there on your way out.”

He tossed the redhead aside.

*Thud!*

“Kuuuccckkk!!”

Turning away from the retching and vomiting guy, he looked at the new recruits gathered around him and warned them again.

“To all of you who stood by and watched instead of stopping this, this is your final warning.”

“Sorry!”

“And just so you know. Without the knowledge and experience the instructors are providing, you will not last a day and will be dead. Always be grateful and learn.”

“Yes!”

“Huuu…”

“And lastly, don’t start any petty squabbles. Sooner or later, there will be a place for you to arrange your ranks.”

“Yes!”

The Village of Poola.

Sandwiched between the borders of the Kingdom of Ravino and the Kingdom of Crane. In the aftermath of the war, everyone abandoned the village, leaving it in ruins.

A group of people appeared in the middle of nowhere.

A man walking in the forefront.

He appears to be the leader of the group.

He was large, resembling a bear, and had a very crude appearance. His appearance was so rugged that it made one’s heart chill.

The cloak he wore had an owl sigil on it.

Magnes, one of the seven major criminal organizations.

The man was known as Brown Bear, who served as a captain directly under the boss of the Magnes organization.

“Cigar.”

“Here you go.”

Brown Bear took the cigar from the henchman’s hand, and the henchman used his magic to light it and step back.

“Wheww.”

Brown Bear puffed out a thick cloud of cigar smoke.

“Where’s that Fire Ant guy?”

“We’ve gotten word that he’ll be here soon.”

“Whatever, he thinks he’s in charge, that asshole.”

The brown bear walked past the collapsed houses and stood in front of a building with an apparently intact exterior.

At that moment, the men behind him formed a perimeter around the building. He took a long drag on his cigar and stepped inside.

Unlike the outside, the inside was clean.

Luxurious sofas were spread across the room, and a wide variety of liquor and refreshments, from drugs to cigarettes, were laid out on a large table.

“Wheww.”

Brown Bear sat down on the couch.

Chewing on his cigar, he picked up a bottle of booze, uncapped it, and poured it straight into his mouth.

The liquid flowed down his throat.

*Gulp.*

“Keeeuuuu…”

Wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, he took another puff from his cigar and leaned back on the couch, and it wasn’t long before a certain familiar figure emerged.

A skinny frame, throughout.

A man in tight-fitting clothes and a long coat, fanning himself with his hands, sat down across from Brown Bear.

“Whoa. Smells like cigarettes. You might as well just suck on the drugs, asshole.”

“The Ant I knew is quite a diligent worker.”

“You gonna give me shit for being late for some work?”

“I’m not complaining because you’re always late.”

Fire Ant shook his head.

“Oh, never mind. Just tell me why you called me.”

“Wheww. Have you had any contact with the boss lately?”

“No. The last time I saw him was with you. Why?”

“I was going to ask you what to do about Burning Hell. They’ve even created some kind of special organization to take us down.”

“Oh, that?”

Fire Ant chuckled, and Brown Bear frowned.

“Do you know anything about it?”

“I heard they pulled people from each kingdom.”

“Pulled out?”

“They want to take us out, but they don’t have the men inside Burning Hell to do it, so they’ve recruited men from each kingdom.”

“Who told you that?”

“A nobleman’s son on my side must have gotten in there, I heard it from him.”

Fire Ant chose one of the drinks in front of him and poured it into a goblet. He sipped leisurely and waved a hand at Brown Bear, who had a serious look on his face.

“Hey, don’t take it so seriously. It’s just a bunch of dumbasses.”

“They got Terry, too.”

“He’s a fucking moron.”

“I guess you’re right about that.”

“Burning Hell’s gonna be asking for information from him eventually, so we’ll just have to time it right and wipe him out. It’s the other one that’s the problem.”

Brown Bear blew out a long puff of smoke.

As the Fire Ant had said, another organization had recently begun to push back.

Pierre and Hekan.

It made some sense to see a power close to Magne’s level. They have much to gain by winning the war, even at great risk.

But even the insignificant ones beneath them were looking toward them.

Brown Bear raised his flask and asked.

“They’re not coming after us because the boss isn’t here. What are they counting on?”

“The obvious. You know, the ones who’ve been chopping up noblemen lately, the Darkness Seven?”

“They’re attached to that crap?”

“I don’t know if they’re attached, just that the mood’s been shifting since they showed up, and I’m wondering if they’ll do something.”

“You think we should just wipe them out?”

“Without the boss’s permission, Arthur, that’s the end of the road.”

“So we’re just going to stand by and watch?”

“It’s best if we stay out of trouble until the boss gets back.”

“Shit, this is crazy.”

Brown Bear stubbed his cigar out on the liquor bottle and stood up, and Fire Ant, seeing him do so, raised his drink.

“Just drink some more.”

“Never mind. When do you think those Burning Hell assholes are going to make a move? I think I’m going to have to take some of my anger out on them.”

“Soon?”
