Survive as a Prison Guard in the Game

Chapter 93 - Count Dante (3)

Chapter 93
Count Dante (3)

*Rumble!*

The ground rose, revealing a massive cage where the Blood Moon had been.

A Blood Cage.

It’s a type of barrier magic similar to those used by wizards. A unique vampire technique that protects against outside attacks and cannot be easily broken even by an Aura Blade.

Looks like time was running out.

If he was already transformed, he wouldn’t even need the cage. Using its power to wipe them out would be enough.

“…Hmm.”

Even if he acted now, he couldn’t stop him from becoming a Pureblood Vampire. He’d already taken the heart, and would be fully awakened by the time they got there.

The good news though.

A newborn pureblood vampire doesn’t have a lot of power, and they can’t properly harness it.

With Manuel on their side, they’d have a good shot at catching Count Dante.

“Vice-Captain!”

Hugo waved at him from the doorway.

He turned and headed toward the venue.

The place was in shambles.

Several buildings had collapsed, and several nobles huddled together had been killed in the aftermath of the explosion.

“Ugh….”

“Where am I….”

“Aww, my head….”

The nobles who had previously been sleeping thanks to the Divine Magic Circle were beginning to rouse one after another. As they looked around, dread filled their eyes.

“What the….. is this…. blood?”

“Ewww…..”

He began to gather order in the increasingly disorderly crowd. Walking over to Riena, who had been tended by Manuel.

“Senior Riena, I need you to organize the situation.”

“Okay. Leave this to me.”

“Thank you.”

Riena went to where the nobles were and skillfully organized the situation. Seeing that she was calmly explaining things, he approached Manuel, who had completed treating the injured.

“I’m Redin. This was a difficult favor to ask of you, and thank you for coming in person.”

“No, it wasn’t.”

Manuel looked at him, then raised one eyebrow as if remembering.

“You’re the guy I met when we captured the Necromancer…..”

“That’s right.”

“I think you were under her over there back then, but you’ve already worked your way up to the position of Vice Captain.”

He’d like to talk to him about other things, too.

But for now, they need to deal with the Count.

Before Count Dante can adapt to the power of a pureblood.

“The mastermind of this whole mess is still alive. Would you like to discuss the details as we go?”

“Very well.”

“Fabian, have your horse ready, and the rest of you stay here and help Senior Riena, just in case there’s an unexpected vampire attack.”

“Understood.”

Manuel, Fabian, and him moved to where the carriages were located. They picked the three horses that seemed to be in the best condition and climbed into the saddles.

“Yaaaa!”

He rode his horse out of the venue.

They sped toward the cage in the distance.

*Clip-clop!*

*Clip-clop!*

Manuel’s hair whipped in the wind as he came up beside him.

“Do you know anything about who caused this?”

He answered Manuel’s question.

“Count Dante of the Kingdom of Ravino. I don’t know how he got it, but he seems to have obtained a Heart of a Pureblood Vampire.”

“A pure-blooded vampire…….”

“He probably ate the heart when that cage came down, so he’ll likely already be transformed into a pureblood by the time we get there.”

“So that’s why you called me.”

“Yes.”

A vampire’s weakness is divine power.

Even Manuel, who was one of the best in the Holy Knights, wouldn’t underestimate Count Dante, who had become a Pureblood.

“But why me?”

“Knight Manuel was the only one I knew of.”

“If you had contacted the Holy Empire, the Holy Knights of the other orders would have come. Why did you single me out for this?”

Manuel’s gaze turned cold.

He was asking for the real reason.

“Can you promise to keep everything that comes out of my mouth a secret?”

“I swear to the Goddess Veronica.”

Someone who was going to be in the same boat with him anyway.

This is a relationship that needs to be built on trust.

Now that Manuel has sworn an oath to the goddess, there’s no way the secret he’s about to reveal will get out.

“There are several things that are required to become a pureblood vampire, and the blood of someone with great divine power is one of them.”

Manuel’s eyes widened.

“A candidate for sainthood….”

“Yes. A traitor within the Holy Empire has most likely made a deal with Count Dante, which is why I contacted you directly, Knight Manuel.”

The only one looking for a traitor within the Holy Empire.

Manuel’s eyes became even colder.

“If we capture Count Dante, we’ll have vital information.”

“I’m not entirely certain that Count Dante has been in contact with the traitor, but at least we’ll be closer to finding him.”

After a long trip, they arrived at Count Dante’s mansion.

Dismounting from his horse, he approached the massive cage in front.

A thick stench of blood drifted through the air.

“Shouldn’t we just go through this gap?”

Fabian pointed to the gap in the cage.

There was a gap big enough for a human to slip through, but the moment someone tried to enter, the Blood Cage would activate and tear the person to shreds.

Picking up a stone from the ground, he threw it towards the gap.

The cage formed by the blood rushed towards the stone. The stone shattered under the pressure of the blood.

*Grind!*

Stone dust fluttered.

They had to break the cage to get inside. He turned and looked at Manuel, who was calmly looking at the cage.

” Do you think you can break it, Knight Manuel?”

“I’ll give it a try.”

Manuel took a small step forward.

Fabian and him moved behind Manuel and watched.

Manuel clasped his hands together.

Along with a silent prayer, a white glow emanated from his body. The sight alone made him seem holy.

*Oooooh!*

As the light grew, a whirlwind formed around Manuel. Swallowed by the white light, a pair of wings emerged from Manuel.

*Flap!*

The wings unfurled with a brilliant light.

The moment he saw them, his vision blurred.

The faces of his parents, faces he had only seen in his dreams.

-…… visit the temple.

He reached up to feel the warmth of his mother’s hand caressing his face. Trying to grab the hand that rested on his cheek.

Their faces, which seemed like an illusion, disappeared with the wind.

“Temple…….”

The words lingered in his ears, and he tried to figure out why this was happening.

There was only one thing that was different.

He lifted his gaze and looked at Manuel. The moment Manuel gathered his divine power, a vision of his parents appeared.

Along with it came a hint of a temple, something he hadn’t heard before.

He might be able to figure out the rest of the hints if he encountered a being with stronger divine power.

Like a saint of the Holy Empire.

“…. soon.”

Perhaps he should meet with her.

After organizing his thoughts, he glanced over at Manuel. Manuel raised his sword high.

Wings spread out on either side and wrapped around the blade.

With a tremendous flash of light, it became a greatsword and fell toward the cage.

*Crash!*

*Craaassssh!*

It sliced the Blood Cage in half. There was no damage to the mansion or the ground inside.

*Splaaat!*

The blood that held the Blood Cage together splattered everywhere. Everything it touched was melting.

Manuel produced a shield.

After blocking the blood with it, he took down the shield and they moved toward the mansion. When they reached it, the doors opened.

*Boom!*

A man walked out.

A pale-faced man in a luxurious uniform. Count Dante, the ruler of this land, a pureblood vampire.

He grinned sardonically.

“I was about to get tired of waiting for you…… but seeing your face like this really wakes me up.”

He was so relaxed.

Taking a step forward, he pulled out a pair of handcuffs. Waving them in front of his face, he spoke.

“Count Dante, I’m here to arrest you, and you’d better follow me quietly if you don’t want to get in trouble.”

“Arrest me?”

“For distributing drugs to the nobles of each kingdom, kidnapping certain nobles and enslaving them, and so on. It’s hard to list, so I’ll leave it at that…….”

He grabbed the sword at his waist.

“If you’re going to attack, do it quickly.”

“Kahahahahaha.”

Count Dante’s boisterous laughter spread throughout the mansion. After laughing for a while, Count Dante looked at him and smirked.

“You seem so confident that you have a holy knight, even if there were a dozen more like him, it wouldn’t matter to me.”

“We’ll have to try to figure it out.”

“You’re ridiculous.”

Count Dante’s eyes turned red.

Tears of blood.

The blood that flowed from his eyes rose to the top of his head and formed a crown.

A blood crown that only pureblooded vampires possessed.

Count Dante looked at them like a predator looking at its prey and raised his hand.

“I will make you all my sacrifices.”

A stream of blood stretched from his hand, forming a spear. Clutching the spear tightly, Count Dante kicked the ground and flew through the air.

Spears hurtled toward them.

As he drew his sword, he formed an aura blade, and Manuel’s blessing fell upon it, radiating a brilliant light.

*Boom!*

Spear and sword clashed.

He braced himself with his legs, but Count Dante’s physical strength was inhuman. His body was pushed further and further back.

Using his shadow alter ego.

The shadow alter ego moved behind Count Dante and swung its sword at the back of his neck.

*Swish!*

Count Dante disappeared from view.

The world flashed red, the Eyes of Arrakis issuing a warning.

Using his fairy wings, he pulled himself backward.

A powerful blast from Count Dante’s spear swept through the area where he once stood.

*Boooooom!*

“Let’s combine our strength.”

Manuel raised his sword and charged at Count Dante. He parried Count Dante’s spear with the divine power flowing through his body.

He looked at Fabian, who had been watching the battle and had drawn his sword to join the fray.

“Fabian.”

“Yes.”

“Go into the manor. Find Vivian.”

“……Can I?”

“I promised you, I’d let you meet her. Now go.”

“Okay.”

Fabian bit his lip and ran toward the mansion. Count Dante saw it and stretched out his hand.

A blood arrow formed from his hand, aimed at Fabian.

He leapt to his feet and blocked Count Dante’s attack, allowing Fabian to enter the mansion. He deflected all the blood arrows and helped Manuel drive Count Dante away.

*Bang!*

*Clang!*

*Bam!*

Incredible strength and reflexes.

Count Dante effortlessly blocked the attacks of the two of them. He hadn’t even used his full power yet.

If the battle drags on longer, the odds are stacked against them.

Vampires are immortal as long as they have blood.

As time passes, he will adapt to the power he has and awaken new abilities.

“Blood Bomb.”

With Count Dante’s shout, an explosion erupted from the blood on the ground.

*Baaaaang!*

*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*

He utilized the Shadow Alter Ego to distance himself from the explosions.

Manuel was at the center of the explosion.

Divine power once again began to pulsate from his body.

Using a flurry of slashes, he blocked Count Dante’s attack as it fell towards him.

*Boom!*

Manuel’s voice came from behind him.

“Back!”

He immediately pulled back.

*Whoosh!*

The clouds parted and a beam of light fell.

“By the grace of the Creator, the demon has lost his life. May all evil in this world, by the grace of the Creator, be destroyed.”

A short prayer.

The holy power that flowed from Manuel’s body transformed into a chain of light that wrapped around Count Dante’s body.

With him in it.

A huge spear of light fell from the cracked sky.

*Whirr!*

A blinding white radiance poured out, and a powerful wind rose. Lifting his arms to shield his eyes, he squinted forward.

The chained Count Dante was laughing.

“How very futile.”

*Sizzle!*

The chains melted as blood gushed out of Count Dante’s body, covering his entire body.

An armor of blood.

Count Dante extended his hand to the sky. Blood from all directions gathered in his hand.

The power of the Vampire Lord.

The art of manipulating blood.

Blood Art.

Above Count Dante’s head, a blood shield appeared that was as large as a giant spear.

*Kaaaah!*
