Chapter 92 - Count Dante (2)
Chapter 92
Count Dante (2)
“He says he’s going to kill us.”
“What are we going to do? Didn’t the Count specify that we should take him alive?”
“He wanted fresh, unharmed blood. Stick to the plan. Rueve, you go deal with him.”
Watching the vampires chuckle in response to his words, he sprang into action, using a flurry of slashes to penetrate into their midst.
His sword sliced through the air.
Utilizing the shadows, he caught the legs of those who tried to distance themselves. Rotating his body, he formed an Aura Blade.
*Swoosh!*
A vampire’s flexibility.
Bending at the waist, the vampires dodged the attack, all baring their fangs and crimson eyes as they tore through the shadows.
At the front was Rueve.
Short, shoulder-length hair, pale face. Rage flashed across her face, and she spread her arms wide.
Blood sprang from her wrists.
Splattering in all directions, it clung to her arms, forming two swords.
Twin swords shaped like Japanese swords.
The moment her high-heeled feet stepped forward, her body blurred and she disappeared from sight.
The Eye of Arrakis.
The senses heightened.
It all converged, pinpointing Rueve’s movements. He turned around and swung his sword.
*Clang!*
He parried and ducked. Dodging the second attack that followed. Darting forward, he unsheathed his second sword.
Moonlight.
A sword as long as his forearm.
Condensing his raw mana into the sword, he forged an Aura Blade and severed Rueve’s arm.
*Swish!*
A gush of blood shot out, sending her arm flying through the air. Scowling, she lunges at him through gritted teeth.
“Kadduh…….”
The blood pouring out of her severed arm reshaped itself and turned into a sword, resembling a katana.
*Slash!*
*Swipe!*
The dual swords of Rueve struck.
There was no time to prepare for her attack.
Her eyes were already glowing with rage, which made her every move hasty and haphazard.
She raised both arms.
“Die.”
Two swords made of blood coalesced into one. A massive greatsword fell swiftly overhead.
He crossed his two swords.
*Clang!*
He blocked Rueve’s attack and used his shadow alter ego. A shadow alter ego rose up from her back and decapitated her.
*Thud!*
A face rolled to the ground.
[Killed the target].
[Harvesting a damned soul].
Flicking the sword off the blood, he dismissed the shadow alter ego. His gaze shifted to stare at the two remaining vampires.
“Ares, Rueve is dead.”
“Go and stall him.”
Despite the overwhelming difference.
Ares let Drea go and stayed behind. To fulfill Count Dante’s order to delay them.
It’s good that he’s fighting against them, but.
-Come on guys!
-The man in the white uniform has broken my handcuffs!
-Hey, Redin! How much longer do I have to endure?”
Things weren’t looking good on the other side of the wall.
He’s called Manuel, but he doesn’t know when he’s going to arrive. Instead of waiting for him to arrive and help on the inside of the wall.
It was faster for him to clean things up this side first.
“Three minutes. Give me three minutes.”
As he finished telling Cerberus to hold on a little longer, he glanced toward Ares and raised Moonlight.
These guys are vampires.
Vampires who get all excited at the sight of blood.
Like Count Dante tried to do with his blood.
To a vampire, the blood of someone strong was an irresistible substance.
*Shhh!*
He sliced his arm with the moonlight, and red blood trickled down his arm. Droplets of blood formed on his hand and fell to the floor.
“Gurgle….”
“Hmph…..”
Drea and Ares’ expressions changed as they smelled the blood, though Ares seemed to have some self-control and quickly covered his nose with his arm.
But his body was already reacting.
Fangs elongating.
Reddening of the eyes.
“I…. can’t resist.”
Drea, with less self-control, lunged forward first. Leaping a tremendous height, he jumped toward where he stood.
Pulling back, he flailed his arms.
*Thud!*
Drea hit the ground and stuck out his tongue. The long tongue lapped up the blood that sprayed into the air.
“Oooooh!”
Drea shuddered violently.
At the same time, additional changes occurred.
The writhing muscles expanded further, making his body even more massive.
His fangs grew to the size of a finger.
Hair color faded to white.
Drea looked up at him, his mouth watering with delight.
“Blood….”
Drea craved the taste of his blood.
Moving his body around while watching Drea charge at him half-crazed.
To where Ares was standing.
After creating a shadow alter ego, he quickly traveled behind Ares. Smearing his body with blood, then pulling back.
“Blood…… Ares!”
“Arrgghhhh…….”
Drea lunges to drink the blood from Ares’ body.
Ares begins to lose control due to the blood on his body.
Eventually, Ares, who also lost control and went on a rampage, had the same awakening as Drea by drinking the blood on his body.
*Snap!*
Ares’ hand snapped Drea’s neck. Ares stared at Drea as he fell helplessly to the ground, then shifted his gaze to him.
Madness spread across his face.
The corners of his mouth turned up, and then he pounced on him.
“Grrr!”
Looking at Ares, who had lost control, he checked the transmission in his ear.
-Redin, look out, there’s a guy in a white uniform heading your way!
Immediately, he revealed himself.
A man in a white uniform running towards him. Ares whipped around to face it, snapping its neck like he did Drea’s.
Two men were easily dispatched.
Now there was only one remaining danger here, Ares. Raising his sword at the razor-sharp fangs, he bore down on him.
Creating an Aura blade, he decapitated the crazed being.
*Thud!*
Moving toward the dead Ares. He pulled out the remaining holy water from his subspace pouch.
*Glug!* *Glug!*
Dousing Ares’ body with holy water.
*Sizzle!*
White steam rose and melted Ares’ body. That was how the bodies of all four heavenly kings were purified.
-Redin, we’re done here.
He responded to Seria’s report.
“Don’t relax yet.”
Shifting his gaze, he looked up at the red moon in the sky. It was even redder than when it first appeared.
The result of the Blood Moon draining away the Life Force.
Count Dante could use that life force to create an elite vampire like the Four Heavenly Kings.
First, he had to destroy that moon.
He sheathed his favorite sword, Cairo, and pulled out the Moonlight.
Two mid-tier techniques.
If he used the first of those techniques, he might be able to crush the moon. However, there was a risk.
The technique was still unfinished.
It required a large amount of mana in a very short amount of time, so the mana hole had to be very large.
“Huuu…….”
Even with the [Archmage’s Desire], his fast mana recovery wasn’t enough to allow him to use this technique.
Still, it might be possible with a clever twist. Taking a deep breath, he gripped the handle of the Moonlight once more.
The mana hole filled with the Archmage’s desire.
Just as he was about to draw all the mana within, the red sky split open and a massive beam of light descended.
“You’re early.”
A spear of pure white light.
Saint Spear
A divine power that could only be wielded by those chosen by the Goddess among the Holy Knights.
The giant divine spear forged by Manuel smashed through the Blood Gate.
*Booooom!*

Count Dante’s Mansion.
A woman dressed in a maid’s outfit carried a tray down the stairs. A cellar in the mansion. Only those with permission may descend.
A space filled with pitch blackness.
The maid descended slowly through the darkness.
*Shudder.*
*Plop.*
Reaching the basement, the maid walked down the hallway and stood in front of the door at the far end.
*Knock!* *Knock!*
“Count.”
The door swung open before the maid could finish her sentence. The door opened of its own accord, revealing an ornate space beyond.
An interior built like a temple.
A rectangular bathtub in the center.
The maid walked to the tub filled with red blood. Kneeling silently, she lifted the tray over her head.
*Chwaah!*
Count Dante emerged from the center of the tub. He wiped the red blood from his face and stared at the tray.
A golden box rested on top of it.
‘Darkness Seven.’
A gift from the head of the organization, asking him to join them. Reaching out, Count Dante lifted the lid.
The box was decorated with all manner of magical symbols.
Inside was a heart the size of a fist.
“Go and prepare the sacrifice.”
“Yes, sir.”
The maid bowed and left the room.
Left alone in the tub, Count Dante took the heart from the box in his hand.
The coveted object of all vampires.
The Heart of a True Blood Vampire
If he took it, he would become a pure blood vampire, a genuine one, not a counterfeit. One that could walk in the light instead of the dark.
A Vampire Lord.
“Hehehe….”
He couldn’t help but laugh.
Bitten by a nameless vampire, surviving decades of near-death experiences. His greatest desire was finally coming true.
*Boom!*
The blood moon was shattered.
The Count, about to devour the heart, put it down for a moment and used ultrasound surveillance.
Where the nobles were partying.
The men sent to deal with Cerberus were all dead, and the Four Heavenly Kings had their bodies burned away by Holy Water.
All of Cerberus survived.
At their side was a man in the armor of the Holy Empire. The sigil of a decapitated witch on his chest.
A Paladin of the Dark Knight, no doubt.
With the power he possessed, it made sense that he could destroy the Blood Moon.
“I thought you said the Paladin wouldn’t be able to help out…….”
The gift giver said.
But he didn’t care. The work was already done. It would make no difference if the Paladin joined them.
“My servants.”
At Count Dante’s command, the vampires in the manor appeared.
Spreading his arms, Count Dante smiled.
“Blood Cage.”
Blood gushed from the vampires’ bodies. The streams of blood gushed forth from various places and wrapped around the mansion, creating a giant cage.
This would buy them time.
Count Dante stuffed the heart in his hand into his mouth. In a single swallow, the heart traveled down his esophagus.
*Thump.*
*Thump.*
He could feel it beating.
*Thump.*
*Thump.*
Along with his heartbeat, Count Dante’s body began to change. His arms and legs began to bend in strange ways.
*Crack!!*
*Snap!*
“UUggghhh!”
He endured the pain that surged through his body. Every bone shattered and reassembled, and the blood in the tub started to diminish.
“Aaaahhhhhhh!”
Count Dante screamed and fell to his knees at the bottom of the tub. His vacant eyes turned to the sky, and his arms hung limply.
His rapid heartbeat slowed to a crawl.
*Thump!*
.
.
.
*Thump!*
And when his heart finally stopped beating.
Count Dante’s eyes, which had been staring blankly at the ceiling, came alive.
“Ahhh…”
A cracking voice.
Thick blood was needed.
Feeling thirsty, Count Dante lowered his head and looked through the door.
“Bring…. her.”
The door opened and a maid brought in a woman. A woman with the finest blood he had bought from a slave trader months ago.
“Come closer.”
He looked at the woman, still trembling with fear, then reached up and pushed her blond hair off her shoulders.
A pure white neck was revealed.
“What’s your name?”
“Vivian…”
“What a beautiful name.”
Count Dante bit the nape of her neck.
