Tactical Annihilation: Commanding The Apocalypse

Thanks to our assault against the mutant beast horde, we managed to deal a serious bloody nose to the beasts, their invasion was stunted before it could even begin however it seems that their efforts are more unified than i first thought.

The quarter million force had been replaced by an almost 2 million strong force converging towards us from all directions.

And worse yet there were hundreds of 7th ranks and a number of 8ths mixed in as well leading this new force.

We were limited to only three nuclear missile silo's as the system still followed the rules of the game in that each player could only create one, Jake was limited to three since he had Inverness, Himself, and the English Beast domains that he hypothesized were counted all as players to his system.

But in this instance with numerous armies charging towards Britain from North America, Africa, Europe, and Scandanavia.

Humanity meanwhile was not making any move beyond further reinforcing Trent's position but the higher ranks had already abandoned the city under cover of darkness, this was revealed to us thanks to the spy's still present, seems the syndicate had seen the writing on the wall and after seeing it had run for the hills for their own survival possibly to surrender themselves to the beasts offering up the city itself as tribute for their surrender.

Jake and his army had been further reinforcing their positions but upon seeing the recent beast movements a cold sweat broke out on Jakes back, with the ability to only launch 3 nukes, ever 3 days dealing with the armies they sighted coming their way would not be enough not even with his trump cards of the weather storm, or orbital drops could deal with all these numbers, and probably not at all with the 8th ranks against them.

Even with his superunits elevating themselves to the 7th rank and opening the gates for the rest of his army to be upgraded as well, Jakes army was incapable of dealing with the threat against them.

The best he could do would be to put up a stiff resistance leading to their deaths, but giving humanity the chance to properly launch a counter offensive against the beast domains putting them on the backfoot and reclaiming the lost cities.

Having seen the converging forces on the command map even though it was reluctant, Jake gave the command to fight to the last.

Each inch of ground taken would be paid for in blood, the super units were responsible for overall command of each front and would be the ones most likely to be capable of taking down an 8th tier.

With his limited methods of grand attacks the call for unleashing his superweapons would come based on his call and his call alone.

Today was a month since the first battle had happened and it also marked the start of the beast invasion attempt of the scarlet union.

Jake wasn't sure how, but the assault of the Beast unions started at the same time on all fronts.

North, East, South, and West millions of beasts converged on the union from all four cardinal directions charging towards the towering fortress walls as the soldiers and fortifications mounted lit up and began firing off towards the horde, Wall mounted Sentry guns, and Ground defense pillbox's unleashed heavy machine gun fire churning the charging beasts into pieces of meat, while turret guns lobbed shells high into the air killing hundreds, underfoot the minelayers had long since scattered thousands of mines which now exploded in a cacophony of noise as hundreds more beasts were torn to pieces their corpses raining down onto their fellows heads.

Atop the wall Conscripts and GI were ready and waiting for the hordes to get close enough to unleash their own fire.

While planes roared overhead dropping fire and bombs onto the enemy positions.

The battles occurring could only be described as total war, however the number of the beasts eventually began to win, their forces had reached the walls and begun tearing into them destroying the pillboxes even as Jake tried to command their repairs, the attacks were coming to fast resulting in their loss.

The defenses were breached and the union was as well, beasts stormed through the holes in the wall beginning to climb the back of the wall while the advancing forces climbed the front.

The soldiers atop desperately tried to stop their climb.

Behind the wall the armor corp had set off, acting like battering rams to push their way through the broken walls repulsing the invading beasts while driving themselves out into the field of battle guna ablaze.

Back in the command HQ Jake continued to watch over the map, occasionally shifting his vision into those of his soldiers.

The battle had already been raging for close to an hour, the beast armies seemed near endless.

And Jakes forces weren't without casualties, thousands of his men and women had already lost their lives mostly from the armor corp who charged outside the safety of the wall to counter attack, while even the aerial units were not safe the flying beasts being capable of taking down the flying jet fighters, and propeller planes.

The defenses still stood strong but had taken a beating, but it was at this point things changed.

Reports came in from all theaters that something was coming, Jakes focus landed on the neared front only to watch as an energy blast completely annihilated the fortifications in close to a 1km stretch, tens of thousands of units were lost with only a few managing to pull through the attack only to find themselves at the mercy of the still advancing beast wave.

The attack was not localized either.

The fortress walls had been breached in all four theaters.

Shocked Jake could only stare at the command screen in silence.

"Commander, that was likely a combined assault attack from the 8th tiers in their ranks."

"Such power as that we don't stand a chance resisting properly against them."

"You two sound the general retreat order we're pulling back to the Unions core lands, if we're to come to the end we'll get our money's worth first."

""Understood commander"

With that Eva and Zofia set about pulling back all our forces to mainland England to deepend our defenses of the motherland.

Outside this retreat the cities of Inverness and Trent were left relatively alone to fight off the beast horder, inverness at least was given the option to evacuate into the unions walled off zone but most of their citizenry believed the power of the first walls would be all they needed to survive this attack, now they regretted the decision to not leave, as millions of beasts poured through the walls.

Their defenses being like wet tissue paper, in the face of the assembled 8th ranks.

Jake meanwhile as his part of the retreat action had begun to sell off the fortification and defenses along with structures in the breached lands.

It wasn't much but still recovering 40% of the costs would help, as for Jake his 4 trump cards remained firmly in hand waiting for the chance to be used.

Hours more passed but the beasts never stopped moving, to stop would mean death, instead using up the last of their stamina the beasts finished off the city of Inverness and Trent while charging towards the final defense lines aside from the city of Axiom multi-layer defenses.

The beast forces were exhausted but still hell-bent on ending the threat they had found capable of standing against them.

Jake had not fully manned the walls instead he'd changed tactics expecting another energy blast similar to the first time wiping the defenses away, while the soldiers and forces would be hunkering underground rising up to fight the beasts once the initial assault had passed.

And just like they expected as soon as the guns atop the walls started firing four energy blasts were once more unleashed silencing the guns, and opening the path into the unions space.

Once the blast had subsided the bunkers opened up and tens of thousands of tanks, and infantry entered the field of battle coming to blows with the exhausted beast army.

This war was boiling down to a battle of attrition.

Either the beasts energy would falter resulting in their annihilation by Jakes forces or, Jakes own would fail to repulse them leading to the Unions demise.

Meanwhile inside the command HQ the Super units were making pleas for Jake to use his ultimate Trump card before it was too late.

This ultimate trump card was the use of the Chronosphere itself.

They'd only done simple testing with it teleporting vehicles to other areas and back.

Not something as extreme as what they were planning now.

The Superunits were requesting Jake to use the true power of the Chronosphere to travel back in time, back to a point where he could start over but with his already increased power levels meaning he'd be able to build up for longer further increasing his power with a chance to resist and even defeat the beast hordes.

But Jake resisted, in his mind the fight was not yet over, they still could win, maybe not the war but this fight.

But he didn't completely overrule the decision as the chromosphere was prepped and ready to use it's power upon his arrival.

The battles raged long into the night, but by the end the beasts had managed to win the fight, the field covered in the corpses of the slain heroes to the union, and many more bodies of the mutant beasts.

Their overall army numbers had been drastically reduced but they still did not stop the attack and continued to move on, using the slain as their sustencance eating while still moving never stopping for fear of the unknown weapon.

Axiom now stood as the only remaining defended union city, all others had been abandoned or sold off.

As the four armies got closer Jakes worry grew more and more that the final option was all they could do, but this worried him, the first generation Chronosphere was only capable of transporting himself or those he could be in close physical contact with.

Using the teleport tests as an example Jake could probably manage to take 2-3 people with him when he activated the device.

But with the 8th ranks nearing and breathing down his neck, if they unleashed their energy blasts then Axiom would be destroyed under the fury of all four blasts.

Which would also get rid of his only way out.

Having finally been convinced Jake was joined by Eva and Zofia as they entered the Chronosphere.

The buzzing and whirring of all the machines around them made Jakes head spin, it was like walking into the inside of a supercomputer all the screens and data being reported.

When they reached the center most section there was a space left open with numerous implements all pointed towards the center of the room.

Jake was familiar with this setup from the games cutscenes, however Zoe and Eva were new to this.

He wrapped his arms around both their waists leading them to the center of the room.

Once their he signalled the technician to begin the countdown for launching the temporal wave.

Jake took one last look around at the present soliders who all saluted him one final time.

Gazed through the eyes of the soldiers who'd gone out to attack the approaching beasts, only to be greeted with the sight of their violent deaths.

Started tearing down the unneeded structures within Axiom to recoup as many credits as he could before his trip.

The final countdown had begun.

The humming around them intensified.

The apparatus's began casting the blue beams towards the three waiting persons.

Jake was surprised at how it felt like nothing was happening, not that it felt like nothing but like he'd just stopped being in the room as if he was now within a cleanroom in space itself, no air pressure, no hot or cold, not even a breeze.

Even the two women by his sides ceased feeling warm to the touch his hands continued to caress their bodies over their clothing but the sensation of the fabrics had faded away.

Whump

Just before the beams finished casting Jake found himself staggered but unsure as to why…

But was not given a chance to discover why as the Chronosphere completed it's activation all seemed to stop as his vision faded to white.

The soldiers lining the walls all continued to salute as the visage of their supreme commander slowly faded away into nothingness, his lovers the Lieutenant pair were those selected to join him on his trip to the past, however they all were stunned to see that at the last second in shot another woman.

One who lept into the air and clung to the commanders back just in time.

As the commander faded away, the soldiers offered up one final prayer for his safety before heading out to participate in the final battle of the Union.

They we'rent holding back and command had been transferred over to the Premier who was the highest ranking officer now that the commander was no longer present.

Romanov knew this was the final stand and was prepared for this to be an honorable end, exterminating the whole of the beast armies, and his own giving the world it's best chance of continued peace thanks to the fall of these forces.
