Chapter 11: Part 11. Suspicious
All the way home, Lucas thought about what his daddy had said. But why Haisley? He didn't like Haisley, but why was that person after Haisley? Why wouldn't the man who killed his sister and her lover target his previous sex partners? Were her previous sex partners hired guns? That question now popped into his head. He now looked at Daxter, who was sitting in front of the driver's side.
"It's impossible for Daxter to give data carelessly. He's a gift from uncle, there's no way Uncle would want to kill me?" he asked himself.
Arriving at the office, Lucas called his uncle, and the first curse he received when the line connected. "What are you doing bothering me at this hour?" asked Alexander, his voice sounding annoyed.
"Daxter, is the data you have about Daxter true?" Lucas asked.
"Of course it's true, so what? is there something wrong? I gave him to you as a gift as well as your confidant because I tested him several years before I gave him to you. I also ordered someone to investigate the truth of his identity and everything is true. There is nothing falsified about her at all. Why are you asking me this? Don't you trust me?" asked Alexander, his voice sounding suspicious.
"My question yesterday was about whether poor women can get danger attacks. Dad told me that the person who wanted to kill that woman was someone related to me. In fact, it's possible that the same person who kidnapped me, Dayana, and Zenaya a few years ago," said Lucas.
"If that person is related to the kidnapping, why are you asking about Daxter?" asked Alexander, his voice sounding confused.
"Dad could tell if the person who wanted to kill that woman was related to me, but Daxter didn't find that out at all. Daxter is a person who has been educated by his uncle, how can he not be like the people Mommy has? Even I just found out today from Dady if the real kidnapper has not been caught. The person who was sentenced turned out to be just a substitute," Lucas said.
"Huh... you just found out about this? Uncle also doesn't believe that we were fooled by a rat just because almost all the data points to him. But anyway, we just have to try to find out who the real culprit is," said Alexander.
"So you knew about this?" asked Lucas.
"Of course I know, because your mom asked me for help too. I'm also here to find out because the culprit is here. It's just that until now, I haven't been able to find out who the culprit is. The information that Uncle got was completely cut off. The latest information said he was a businessman, but what kind of businessman I don't know. I've investigated every business partner of our company, but no one is involved at all," Alexander replied.
"An Italian?" asked a very surprised Lucas.
"That's it, I'm sleepy. Don't bother me when it's late. I'm not a young man who can stay up all night," Alexander said and switched off the phone.
Lucas stared at his cell phone, which displayed his uncle's name. His uncle's voice sounded panicked when he asked about Italians. Lucas's suspicions grew even more certain that Daxter must have been a conspirator of the kidnapper and murderer. After all, Daxter had worked with him for exactly five years since the tragedy. Not someone who knows about the kidnapping and murder that left Lucas's sister and girlfriend dead. But, who knows? He was the one who sent him because how could his mom know but Daxter didn't know anything about the mastermind.
"Who can I trust to find out about this? It's not easy to find people who have more experience," Lucas said as he stared at his darkened cell phone screen.
The days flew by, and now Lucas was in a place where his parents were waiting for him. A hotel room in one of his mother's hotels. "What brings me here?" asked Lucas, looking lazily at his mother.
"Sit down first. don't you want to know how momy got the info about the person who abused Haisley being related to you?" asked Julia as she smiled at her son.
She grabbed her son's wrist and gently pulled him to sit between her and her husband. Lucas looked up at his mother for being so gentle. It was strange to see his mother being gentle, his mother was a woman who was often strict without any tenderness at all, unlike his father, who could be gentle.
"What are you planning?" asked Lucas as he looked suspiciously at his mother.
"What's wrong with Mom? Why are you asking me that?" asked Julia as she frowned.
"Mom has never been this gentle. Mom is a strict person with no feelings," Lucas replied, making Julia smile forcefully at her son's words. Apparently that's what Lucas had in mind about her.
"Sorry, Mom loves you," Julia said, and suddenly Lucas felt an injection in his neck.
Lucas immediately held his neck. "What are you doing?" asked Lucas while looking at his mom.
Julia rubbed her son's cheek. "This is for you, and don't you want to know the person who killed your lover and sister? So, do this to get what you want," Julia said with a smile and stood up from her seat. She pecked her son's forehead before she called someone outside the room they were in to take Lucas out of the room.
"Trust me, this is for your own good," said his father as he took Lucas by the shoulders before he followed his wife out of the room.
Two large bodyguards entered the room, and they carried Lucas out of the room by grabbing his right and left arms. Lucas opened his eyes, but they had lost their focus. He followed in the footsteps of the bodyguards who led him. As they walked out of the hotel, the employees bowed respectfully as they passed them. Lucas with two bodyguards on his right and left as they got into the car. Julian and Julia rode in the other car. Lucas shook his head hard to keep himself awake and tried to remember which way was up and that he would escape from them if he had the chance. Unfortunately, he had no focus at all, his head was so heavy that the car finally stopped at a church.
Lucas, with his body limp and his consciousness still intact but his focus gone, continued to walk at the pace of the bodyguard who brought him. Lucas entered the church with two of his bodyguards. He stood at the front with a priest after the bodyguards released him. "Turn around and look forward. Straighten your body and your head because you are a leader. Smile when you see Haisley about to enter this room. Hold out your hand when Haisley is in front of you," Julia said right next to her son's ear.
"After you hold Haisley's hand, turn around and follow what the priest says. Follow what the priest says after he finishes," Julia said again.
Lucas didn't say yes, but as soon as his mother finished saying that, Lucas was like a systemized robot as he immediately turned around. When the church door opened, Lucas smiled so wide that Julia smiled too, but not so with Julian, who was a little worried because he knew how his son was. What would the son do when he woke up from the drug that was injected into his body?
