The Curse of Time (Harry Potter Fanfic)

Chapter 76: The doubtful date part3

We walked in silence before arriving in front of a massive building with a statue representing justice.

It must be the courthouse. On the walls, there were engravings with numbers, but I still couldn't read the language.

In front of the courthouse, there was a plaza with a statue in the center depicting a woman or man attacking another person with a spear.

"Once upon a time, a god appeared on this earth. He came as a messiah and demanded the loyalty of all its inhabitants. But the people did not respect him because he had never done anything for them. Then, angered by their refusal to bow before him, the god attacked. It was at that moment that I... the demon goddess, who was at the time the demon king, arrived and confronted him with all my strength. In the end, he cursed me."

As Marie spoke, the scenery around me changed, and the city looked older, with far fewer buildings. When I raised my head, I could see two figures: one radiating a golden aura and the other shrouded in a black aura.

The black figure kicked the golden one, sending him flying before landing near me.

He wore an elegant set of three-layered armor, though cracks were visible on it. He had golden hair and eyes, and I could see golden light flowing into him, making his aura grow stronger.

"I promised to destroy you so you can't hurt anyone else," he said, his voice firm. Then he looked at the city with a sorrowful expression.

"As long as it's only material, we can rebuild it. I won't give you the time to take it from us."

And with that, he dashed towards the black figure at such an incredible speed that I could barely follow his movements.

I suppose this must be the fight depicted in the statue, with the golden figure representing the demon king, while the black figure is the god.

The moment their fists collided, the surroundings warped, and I suddenly found myself in a dreamlike version of Hogwarts. Everything was white, as if the place were floating in the clouds.

As I looked at Hogwarts, which seemed partially destroyed in some areas, I heard a rumble. The wind softened on my left side, nearly lifting me off my feet.

Looking in the direction of the wind, I saw a version of myself—the form I had planned to use starting in my fifth year—surrounded by a blue aura. I was fighting someone with a red aura, wielding my katana.

The sword strikes were so fast that they moved quicker than my eyes could follow. I could see Mary running around, casting Confundo and other devastating spells at the red figure, who easily dodged most of the attacks.

"To hell with the laws! The important thing is to defeat you before you make another victim. Avada Kedavra!"

I couldn't see the result of Mary's deadly spell because, in the next moment, I found myself back in front of the statue. Mary was shaking me with a worried look on her face.

"Evelyn, wake up. Tell me something—are you okay?"

I felt like I was becoming more aware of my surroundings, and all the inconsistencies I had noticed but hadn't reacted to before suddenly came rushing to mind.

I took a step back from Marie before reaching for my katana, which had materialized at my belt.

"I'll ask you this once: who are you?"

"What are you saying, Evelyn? It's me, Marie. Don't you recognize me?"

My head started to feel foggy, but I shook it off, clearing my mind.

"You're lying. Even if you act like her, you're not the Marie I know. She would never tell me a story about something supernatural that I don't already know about."

The one wearing Marie's face smiled before speaking.

"It seems our little date is over."

And then, everything went black.

Pov General,

Mary started to shine after Evelyn disappeared, and she returned to the form where she felt most at ease.

The mysterious person was genuinely surprised that Mary had managed to free herself from his influence and wondered if she might warn Sloth to expand her control before she disrupted his spell on a large scale.

A figure wearing a cape marked with the symbol of justice, whose eyes were covered by a blindfold, appeared next to the mysterious person.

"Was it a wise decision to bring her here without following any procedures?"

"Don't worry. It was merely a sightseeing trip at best, so that when she makes her choice, she understands what lies ahead of her."

With a perfectly graceful and fluid movement, Mary arrived at the edge of the flying château, her landing smooth and precise.

"I look forward to the day, perhaps in a few years, when I can finally speak to you without needing to hide."

Even though she was impatient, for someone who had lived for eternity, a few years passed in the blink of an eye.
