Chapter 85: Ravenclaw's Diadem
Pov Marie,
Let's recap the situation: Evelyn was sick, which caused only her extremely young parallel self to be active, leading to many adorable moments and the creation of "Chibi Evelyn."
After that, I had a strange dream that felt oddly familiar. Upon waking up, I noticed that Evelyn had disappeared.
"Did her last thoughts somehow make her regress to the point where her existence vanished?"
Even though it sounded absurd, it might have been a possibility. But my seventh sense, which was attuned to Evelyn, told me she was still somewhere.
So, I began searching the various places where she could be, starting with the Room of Requirement.
When I entered the room, I immediately knew she was there—but where? That was the real question.
The Room of Requirement was, at the moment, a massive dump filled with objects discarded by countless students over the years.
Some piles of items looked so precarious that even a slight breeze might cause them to collapse.
The scattered objects ranged from simple chairs to massive tables. Some were rolls of parchment, while others included a magnificent sapphire diadem. Certain objects were magical, while others were as mundane as could be.
My attention was drawn to the diadem.
"If Chibi Evelyn wore this, she could become a truly adorable princess."
The diadem was in the shape of an eagle with a sapphire in the middle. And inside the sapphire there was also an eagle.
But it was not the strangest: the shape of the eagle was white, but sometimes obscured by black."A true battle between light and darkness."
I shook my head to refocus. Stop thinking about unrelated things, I have to find Evelyn and figure out why she left without me.
The biggest challenge in this place was how quickly one could lose their sense of direction. Everything seemed repetitive, with the majority of the objects being basic and making it difficult to orient oneself.
I passed by dozens of piles of objects before stopping in front of an upright table.
"You can't hide from me, Evelyn. You forgot that I can always sense where you are."
"Clearly, I can never escape you," she said with an ironic laugh, as if mocking herself.
"Once I put my arms around you, you can never get away. We may only be in a relationship, but to me, you're already my wife."
My possessiveness was starting to take over. I needed to calm down before I did something irrational, like locking her away to keep her for myself.
"Are you really sure you made the right choice with someone like me, acting like a child?"
"Of course! You were too cute. But didn't you say that ridicule doesn't kill?"
"Yes, but I didn't think it would mean I'd end up behaving like such a child. My mental age is very old, yet I'm almost certain I told the teachers at the table that I appreciated them a lot."
"I swear you didn't do it."
'She totally did. Even I, who never feels shame, would dig a hole to disappear right now.'
Lying to Evelyn made my heart ache, but I didn't want her to feel embarrassed or act like this.
"You promise?"
"I promise."
'Sorry for lying to you.'
She moved the table aside, revealing the little setup she had arranged for herself.
"Were you planning on living here from now on, or what?"
"No, just a few weeks of exile before coming back."
I couldn't tell if she was a genius or just incredibly eccentric. Probably both.
"Now come on, I found something interesting."
It took me an hour to drag Evelyn through the labyrinth of objects until we finally reached the tiara.
"Look! Isn't it beautiful? I'm sure it would suit you perfectly—even though it looks cursed."
"Mary, step back immediately."
