The gamer: Ryu Uzumaki

Ryu had been wandering across the world since he was five years old, learning from his father about their family history. Apparently, they were descendants of a once powerful clan of shinobi, originating in the land of whirlpools until its destruction many years ago. He had taught him all he knew about ninja techniques, mainly about water jutsu. He learned the water clone, hiding in mist, liquid bullet, clone, transformation and substitution jutsu from his father before he died when Ryu was ten, as well as basic taijutsu and kunai combat. When he died, they were in the village of Konoha, which meant he had two options, either join the academy or live life in a regular orphanage. Naturally, he chose the ninja academy. He had proven his skill to be transferred into the age appropriate class and was now sitting in the apartment, which the Hokage had so graciously given him, when something happened. There was a loud *ding* in his head and a blue screen appeared before himself.

Immediately, as he read the last word, his mind was flooded with knowledge of how to use this 'system'. Levels, stats, HP, words that held no place in his mind were suddenly ingrained within him. He looked around, there was no one there. Was this… real? He didn't think it could be a genjutsu. The screen may have been one but the knowledge he gained was well above a simple genjutsu. Still, he tried breaking a genjutsu but nothing happened, the screen was still there 'Okay, let's try this, Status?'

Transformation jutsu: 8/300(21%): a basic but versatile technique which allows its user to transform into other people, objects or animals. A skilled user of this technique could even transform into a bird and fly away(takes 5 chakra)

Substitution jutsu: 6/300(99%): A basic jutsu which allows the user to swap their body's placement with a object or even animals. Often this is used to swap with logs(takes 5 chakra)

Nature transformation [Water]: 15/300(10%): Your natural chakra affinity, water is yours to control, though you can also learn other nature transformations through hard work, none will work as well as your natural affinity

Water release: Hiding in mist jutsu: 5/300(15%): You use your chakra to create a fog of mist, allowing you to hide from sight(takes 25 chakra)

Water release: water clone jutsu: 10/300(92%): The water version of the clone technique. This version is actually physical and has about a tenth of the strength of the user and can disperse to create mist(takes 100 chakra)

Water release: liquid bullet jutsu: 3/300(72%): You use your chakra to generate water inside your mouth, shooting it out like a bullet(takes 15 chakra)

Observe: MAX: Allows the user to see the stats of another person, only works with people at most 5 levels higher than you(takes 1 chakra)

Well, everything seemed to be in order. His stats -except for Vitality- were the average for someone at level one and his skills were also well within an academy student's range. The only skill in genin range was his nature transformation, which was to be expected, as it was the skill he had spent the most time nurturing. Observe though… that was new.

Curious, Ryu walked out to his balcony and used observe on one of the people passing by the streets, a young girl, maybe eight years old.

Interesting… It kind of hurt to see that this kid, two years younger than him had almost the same stats as him.

With renewed vigor, he started training, doing push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, after a few hours, a new screen popped up.

He felt the increase in strength immediately. His body was building muscle. Not so much that anyone would notice but enough to further cement the fact that this system was real. Knowing that now, thanks to his reality being a game, and thus not needing to sleep anymore, he continued training the whole night. First strength training, then speed training(both running and nimbleness), and after the night had turned to day, he had received two more stat points, one in strength and one in dexterity. He had to capitalize on his early days after all, when gaining status points per training was easy. Even after all this training, he hadn't sweat a bead. He loved the system already.
