The God of calamity’s wife: return of the 13th

Chapter 31: 31- Werewolf customs

Aksel smiled. "Gladly."

He rose to his feet, and the guards hovering over him glanced toward the Alpha, seeking confirmation. The Alpha gave a dismissive wave, signaling them to allow Aksel to stand.

"Take the rest of these men to the dungeon. They are of no further use to me; losing a fight with a vampire means death."

One of the men attempted to flee. "He wasn't a normal vampire!" he shouted, but the guards quickly overpowered him, shoving him to the ground. They seized him by the clothes and dragged him away along with the others.

"It's unfortunate. Those were some of my best men," the Alpha remarked, motioning for Aksel to follow.

As they moved into the hallway, they noticed the sky had grown ominously dark. Fierce winds howled, and snow was beginning to frost the windows.

"What on earth?" the Alpha exclaimed. "It's the middle of summer! What kind of phenomenon is this?"

Aksel looked outside, anxiety etched on his face. "She's coming," he answered.

The Alpha realized what Aksel was saying and he gave a serious look to his men.

"Inform the general, we are under attack."

—————

The wind was howling as the storm got closer, the windows were rattling under the pressure.

The military gathered into the center of the castle to protect the Alpha. They didn't really care to inform the citizens because going out in that storm would surely be a suicide mission, but they had turned on the sirens that represented that they were at war.

People took shelter inside of their homes.

Then suddenly the wind calmed and the air grew eerily silent.

Aksel ran to the window and rubbed away the condensation, attempting to see out of it.

Surrounded by the wind and snow of the dark landscape, two figures were walking towards them, a man in a long, black, fur-lined coat with shaggy black and white hair and crimson red eyes. He held hands with a woman that Aksel knew very well, only he had never seen this kind of determination on her face before.

In all reality, he had seen it once, and that was almost 17 years ago when he was a youth, and he had seen this same couple announce themselves the Luna and the Alpha of his home.

He clenched his fists and then his hands dropped to his sides in defeat. She would only ever be this powerful with Sirius there beside her, no matter what he wanted, how much he wanted to be the man by her side, wielding that kind of power, he realized that he didn't compare to the man she loved and if he were to continue being on the wrong side of the war would be futile.

He turned around at the Alpha and drew a dagger, stabbing him suddenly in the neck and cutting off his head.

No one had time to react.

Then Aksel turned his head as the doors to the mansion blasted open and Saoirse and Sirius entered, eminating power from their bodies.

"I am the new Alpha of Pembrookeshire and this pack answers to me!" Aksel yelled at the couple.

Saoirse and Sirius took in the bloody scene with shock as the Alpha now lay dead on the floor.

The military continued to watch, not taking a side.

"I have defeated the Alpha with my own hands and my first declaration as Alpha is to submit to our new ruler Saoirse Timoteusdotter and her husband. They are the new rulers of this pack and we will all answer to them.

He knelt towards them and bowed towards the floor. "I ask for your forgiveness Saoirse, I am forever in your debt for helping me rise to so much power, and all I did was betray you.

I am so sorry, I will be forever loyal to you and your husband and I will do whatever you ask of me."

Then he looked up at them and said, "but if you cannot forgive me, I can also take my own life as a symbol of my penitence."

He drew his dagger and pointed it at his own neck and waited for a response.

Sirius was about to tell him that trust cannot be restored so quickly once it has been broken so fiercely, but Saoirse stopped him and came closer to Aksel, not close enough to be within range of his knife, but close enough to see his face better.

"What makes you think I will trust you Aksel? You have taken away my very soul and stomped on it."

He looked at the ground and nodded.

"Why have you killed the Alpha and switched sides?" She asked, "is it because you want to be on the winning side?"

Aksel sighed, "Saoirse, I know you from when I lived in a place called The Estate. At first when you declared yourselves the Alpha and the Luna of my home I was angry.

" Your brother Linus was our brave, strong ruler and grandfather to us all and he said your husband had defeated him in battle, nearly sucking him dry of blood and you protected him from death, and so I fell in love with you."

"I thought you were the fiercest warrior there ever was since no one could defeat our Alpha until that day. All of his children and others who wished to rise to power had failed to become his successor. But then a vampire!!!! He gave his Alpha seat to a vampire!!!! I was so angry! If anyone deserved to be by your side, I wanted to be!

"But now I realize that back then, when the two of you rose to power, it wasn't the first time. I believe that you two have reincarnated over and over and over, always to end up rising to power and I can't come against that.

"Aksel looked up fiercely at them and declared, "Instead, I hope you will allow me to serve you! I will help you with whatever goals you two have and I won't try to come between you again.

"I know where your family lives and I can take you to them. If you ever don't believe in my loyalty, you can kill me yourself."

He handed his knife to her and turned into a panther beast, the one that he had only showed to Saoirse and howled the Alpha submission howl, transferring his newfound authority to her. The rest of the pack turned as well and howled, bowing towards their new Luna. Barely missing a beat even though he was not a wolf.

Then Aksel howled at Sirius and the pack submitted to him as the Alpha.

The sky cleared and the sun came back out and Saoirse took the knife from him and grabbed Sirius by the hand. He wasn't aware of what type of custom this was, but as she turned herself into a wolf and howled back at Aksel, he decided to follow her lead. He transformed himself as well. The wolves looked at him in shock. This was a different kind of vampire, one who could shape shift. They were more astonished than whatever Aksel had become.

Sirius opened his mouth to howl and power would surged through him, but suddenly Aksel narrowed his eyes. He was still not ok with having Sirius as his alpha, even more so that if he could shift then that meant Taz was in there the whole time.

He realized that when he became Alpha, his muscles and everything about him became stronger. He would use that to his advantage and not kill him this time but he would capture him or something. He hadn't thought it through. And then he realized that it would be pointless to fight.

"Wait." Aksel said. "Can I stay alpha for longer? I don't think the pack wants a vampire as their alpha."

The majority of the pack nodded as this would be an outrage.

"Then you must fight." Saoirse said, but Sirius lowered her sword. "Let him."

Saoirse would not be caught off guard. She shoved Sirius to the ground. "MY HUSBAND IS ALPHA, NOT THE TRAITOR WHO KILLED YOUR ALPHA. MY HUSBAND DOES NOT KNOW THE CUSTOMS BUT I DO AND I AM THE ALPHA SLAYER SO WHO DARES CHALLENGE ME I WILL DEFEND HIM!"

She barked the same speech in wolf tongue as well, letting out a series of growls and barks as Sirius lay on the ground watching her in shock.

It didn't seem to matter to anyone but him that she was pregnant!

The time when he had been attacked in the shower must have been the last time Saoirse had done a transfer of power like this.
