Chapter 3: Start at the academy
In the blink of an eye, I found myself standing before the grand gates of the most prestigious hunter academy in Artemia—SERA. I hadn't expected to get used to my newly upgraded phone this quickly, let alone its GPS.
Looking around, I saw countless students chatting and walking confidently through the gates, bright smiles plastered across their faces.
"They have no idea what's about to happen to them."
And it was true. Judging by their carefree attitudes and easy laughter, my suspicions were confirmed—we were right before the practical entrance exams, likely around Chapter 5 or so.
The entrance exam for SERA—or any other hunter academy—is divided into two parts:
1. The Written Exam:
This is essentially a standard test of math, history, and language, but with an added twist. Questions also cover towers and their monsters, asking students to identify monster species, classifications, and ranks ranging from F to D.
If you pass, you're granted temporary admission for five days, where you undergo preparation for the second and most critical part:
2. The Practical Exam:
You're sent into a simulation of the tower's first floor to hunt monsters and accumulate points—a minimum of 40 points is required to pass. The stronger the monster, the more points you earn. The monsters present aren't overly dangerous if you have basic hunter knowledge:
- Slime [Level: 1, Rank: F] = 0.5 PT
- Goblin [Level: 2, Rank: F] = 1 PT
- Wild Wolf [Level: 2, Rank: F] = 2 PT
- Red Wolf [Level: 4, Rank: E] = 4 PT
- Great Goblin [Level: 5 Rank: E] = 5 PT
If you pass, you become a confirmed student of SERA.
"But what happens exactly in this chapter? It's been so long since I read it..."
I pondered for a while, ruffling my hair in frustration at being unable to recall. Damn it, if only Mr. Justice hadn't deleted the novel-
I suddenly noticed a few snickers nearby. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a group of people looking in my direction with mocking expressions. The same was true for others around me.
'Agh... not again. I must stay out of sight; this can't happen again.'
I stepped away, trying not to attract further attention, and began analyzing the academy. It was radiant. Each glass window reflected the sunlight so brightly that it could blind anyone who dared to look directly at it. Seeing the academy in person was truly a magnificent experience.
'Ah, I almost forgot!'
"System."
The golden system interface appeared before me, just as I hoped, and fortunately, no one else could see it.
'I received a quest earlier on the train—let's check it out.'

In the shadow of night, a fire ignites,
Blue as the sky, the radiant light of a star.
They dance, wild, like freed souls,
Consuming everything, even sound.

Hands raised, defying divine weight.

For blue flames are chains of eternal ice." ]

'Alright, so these are my stats... but... I KNOW I'M NOT AN IMPORTANT CHARACTER IN THE STORY, BUT DAMN IT, AT LEAST MAKE AN EFFORT TO GIVE ME A BACKGROUND !'
I fumed silently, forcing a calm smile to avoid drawing more attention.
"Anyway, what interests me most is this quest—"
I then whispered:
"Yes, I want to see it."
A new window suddenly appeared before my eyes:

"..."
I exhaled and dismissed the window with a flick of my hand.
"Those bastards who created this system—at least give me some time to adapt.."
Suddenly, I heard an argument nearby:
"A...fight?"
I hurried toward the sound of voices, and before me was a crowd of people forming a circle.
"Argh-!!"
"Woho You're so strong Kim Sae-jin!!"
A female voice shouted.
"Wait, Kim Sae-jin?"
When I managed to get a spot where I could see the scene firsthand, I felt my heart clench.
"So, we're at this chapter..."
I thought with a smirk.
On the ground was a bulky and rather unattractive boy, someone not worth paying attention to because standing above him—
A tall, lean boy with a cold gaze, disheveled black hair reflecting the sunlight, and brown eyes that could almost be mistaken for gold.
He stood there in a heroic and fearless posture. It was him—the main character of 'Save The Humanity' Kim Sae-jin.
Behind him stood a girl with light brown hair and greenish eyes with a jovial look, Sun Daehyun, One of the main cast members and one of Kim Sae-jin's best friends
I couldn't believe I witnessed this scene in real time—it was simply impossible!
