Chapter 4: Class [1]
I couldn't believe it—I was witnessing this scene in real time with the actual characters.
Kim Sae-jin and Sun Daehyun, the first two main characters we are introduced to:
Daehyun was someone very outgoing, and able to socialize with anyone. She was fearless and always ready to help others. In recent chapters, she ranked among the top 20 most powerful hunters in the entire world. Not surprising, since she was a descendant of a very powerful family of hunters.
She also became the head of a highly renowned hunter company after winning a succession war.
During the great war, humanity waged against evolved monsters, which is the main arc currently on hiatus, she was decisive in nearly all her battles.
And then…
I turned my gaze toward the main character himself, Kim Sae-jin.
'Kim Sae-jin…'
Among all the characters, Kim was my favorite. Of course, he was the sweet and kind protagonist everyone loved, but he could also be cold and calculating when necessary. His charisma was astronomical, yet he retained a good heart and fought for the survival of humanity.
I won't give you a full description, but Kim Sae-jin is a simple genius. He could become one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, SS-ranked hunters, born with a unique talent.
As I looked at him, I couldn't help but smile.
"Sae-jin can copy the abilities of his opponents!"
"Urgh… you bastard—!"
The bulky guy lying on the ground then looked at Su Daehyun with disdain.
"You really need your boyfriend to save you, huh, you filthy b—"
"Hey…"
Interrupting the chubby student, Kim Sae-jin gave him a cold, piercing glare.
"Finish that sentence, and I'll do much worse to you, you piece of crap."
'That's so cool; he's acting just like the Kim Sae-jin I'm used to reading about.'
The chubby guy panicked and stood up immediately, gritting his teeth in frustration.
"You bastard…!"
He clenched his fist, filling it with Mana.
"WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, YOU JERK?! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHO I AM?!"
He charged at Kim Sae-jin, raising his fist to strike, and then—
SMACK!
A punch landed, but it was the bulky guy who found himself on the ground again, missing several teeth and with his face marked by a blow.
I hadn't been able to see anything—it had all happened so fast. But of course, it was Kim Sae-jin we were talking about.
Everyone around was astonished, unable to understand how Kim Sae-jin had done it. Among the crowd were future allies and rivals of Kim Sae-jin.
"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!"
A female voice shouted, and everyone turned toward its source.
The girl had very dark, straight black hair and deep blue eyes.
'It's her!'
The girl blessed by the gods, one of the most powerful second-year students at SERA, and the first hunter to reach A-rank at just 18 years old in the future.
Lim Seo-yeon, the Divine Hunter.
'Man, I had forgotten that this chapter introduces characters !'
Lim Seo-yeon approached the scene of the fight, walking up to Kim Sae-jin and Sun Daehyun.
"What is going on here?! Aren't you supposed to be in class right now?!"
She crossed her arms, maintaining an angry expression, though we later learn that Lim Seo-yeon had watched the fight from the very beginning and was very impressed by Kim Sae-jin.
I'll spare you the details, but she falls in love with him later—
"This is incredible; everything is unfolding just like in the novel!"
Everyone around stayed silent at the sight of Lim Seo-yeon. She was the head of the disciplinary council and one of the school's most powerful students.
I then looked at Kim Sae-jin, who seemed relaxed in front of Lim Seo-yeon, as if her status didn't bother him. However, he pretended to feel uneasy to avoid getting into more trouble.
A small smile appeared on my lips.
'This guy, seriously…'
Lim Seo-yeon then looked at the bulky guy lying on the ground, and a small smile appeared on her lips.
"You're the cause of all this, aren't you?!"
She said in an angry tone. She was good at acting...
Everyone, including me, gradually left the scene, leaving Lim Seo-yeon, Kim Sae-jin, and Sun Daehyun alone with the bulky guy's unconscious body on the ground.
This story doesn't concern me, and there's nothing more to gain from it—except that I got to see the characters in real life.
---
"Well, well… I don't know if it's luck or coincidence—"
I had found myself at the threshold of my classroom, and to my surprise, it was Room A-20—the classroom of the main character and the entire main cast.
I crossed the threshold of the automatically opening door and saw about 30 students talking among themselves in small groups. They were all discussing what had happened earlier that morning with Kim Sae-jin and the bulky guy.
Among all these people, I recognized four: Kim Sae-jin's rival, sitting with his feet on a desk, surrounded by several people talking to him.
White hair, violet eyes, a cold and haughty gaze—the stereotypical bully and troublemaker, if you know the type. His name was Park Ha-joon.
Because of what Kim Sae-jin had done earlier, attracting everyone's attention, Ha-joon harbored an indescribable jealousy toward him.
'But beneath that angry rival facade, he's someone very powerful who puts the well-being of others before himself…'
"LEAVE ME ALONE, YOU IDIOTS!"
He shouted, making everyone around him back off.
'He has a good heart, but he's not someone who can express himself well…'
Then there was Sun Daehyun, sitting in the middle, looking thoughtful.
She must have felt guilty about Kim Sae-jin's summons to the office, but there's nothing to worry about—it's not like he'll be expelled.
Next, a girl with violet-edged hair and piercing red eyes. It was… Lee Ye-rin, a future ally and companion of Sae-jin. She secretly had a small crush on him.
And finally, his best friend and companion, Lim Astread.
He's someone… funny and very powerful… yeah.
[Without knowing why, Lim felt a small pang in his heart, feeling left out.]
After observing almost all the main cast characters, I sat down in a seat somewhat isolated from the rest.
I took my bag and pulled out a strange-looking tablet—nothing like the ones from 2019—and a stylus.
"If I want to pass this practical exam, I need to gather as much information as possible."
Digging a little further, I pulled out glasses that didn't belong to me—strange—and a little deeper still, I found a family photo.
It was me and…
I put the photo back in my bag and set it beside me. In any case, it felt good that the system had kept something like that with me.
Kim Sae-jin should arrive a little late, as he's currently with the administration discussing his case.
A few minutes later:
"SILENCE AND TAKE YOUR SEATS, PLEASE!"
Said a feminine voice:
The woman infront of the board had light brown hair and completely normal black eyes. It was Mrs. Kang Min-seo, a retired hunter due to an injury.
This woman was very powerful and had been part of the Fourth Golden Age of hunters.
Everyone sat down immediately, and the teacher began roll call.
...
After about twenty names, it was finally my turn:
"Next student…"
'This is taking forever…'
I thought, bored.
"Kim [---] Sugil "
