Chapter 277: Arche Takes Action
"Eriri, how are my skills? Does it feel good?"
"Ah... it feels great. Momo, your technique is really improving."
"Hehe, I've been practicing diligently lately!"
"Not bad, not bad. I'm very satisfied. Keep going, and you can press a bit harder with your fingers..."
"Got it!"
At this moment, Eriri was sitting on the living room sofa, while Momo stood behind her, giving her a shoulder massage.
This wasn't the first time they had such interactions. Momo's massage techniques, initially clumsy, had now become exceptionally proficient.
While enjoying the massage with her eyes closed, Eriri was also chatting with the group members in the chat group.
Over the past week, the group members had made significant progress in their strength. Even Eriri herself had advanced from Level 8, Stage 7 to Level 8, Stage 8, shortening the time it took compared to her previous advancement from Stage 6 to Stage 7.
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 8): Arche, when are you planning to enter the Great Tomb?]
[Arche (Level 5, Stage 6): Soon. All the worker teams participating in the mission have already gathered outside the Tomb. Photo.jpg]
[Chika Fujiwara (Level 5, Stage 4): Ooh, start streaming soon! I'm planning to soak in the bath while watching you act cool in front of the Overlord.]
[Ruri Gokou (Level 5, Stage 3): Excited, excited!]
Yesterday, Arche's black-market worker team, the "Foresight," received an invitation to explore ancient ruins. Arche immediately knew this marked the pivotal moment she had been waiting for—a critical plotline where, in the original story, she and her teammates met their untimely demise.
While Arche, with her current strength, could obliterate the entire world if she so wished, dealing with the Great Tomb of Nazarick was child's play. However, she hadn't acted ahead of time, precisely for this moment.
Although she hadn't destroyed the Tomb in advance, she had intervened in other areas. For example, she had eradicated the Eight Fingers organization of the Re-Estize Kingdom ahead of schedule, establishing connections with the Blue Rose adventurer group, who had also been targeting the organization.
Due to the early demise of the Eight Fingers, several story events had been disrupted, such as Blue Rose clashing with Entoma, the insectoid maid, or the scenario where the Overlord disguised as the adventurer Momon rescued Evileye from Demiurge.
[Arche (Level 5, Stage 6)]: Okay, I'm starting the stream now.
[Ding! Arche (Level 5, Stage 6) has started a stream. Group members can experience an immersive view by closing their eyes.]
[Ding! Eriri (Level 8, Stage 8) has tipped 10,000 points to the stream.]
Upon seeing the stream notification, Eriri immediately tipped 10,000 points, a habit of hers whenever a group member started streaming.
Whenever someone streamed, Eriri always sent at least one tip at the start and end of the stream. Whether she tipped additional times during the stream depended on her mood. However, it was contingent on the stream being engaging and not half-hearted.
Beneath the moonlit plains stood a colossal circular wall, encasing a vast expanse with a grand central mausoleum at its heart. Surrounding it were four smaller shrines, scattered across the periphery.
The pristine white walls of the mausoleum appeared almost polished, showing no signs of wear or stains despite the passage of time.
At the entrance of the mausoleum, a grand staircase made of marble extended upwards, flanked by ten towering stone pillars. Surrounding the mausoleum were several lifelike statues of giant warriors, resembling knights guarding their sovereign.
Several fully armed teams had already begun searching the smaller shrines scattered around the area. Only Arche's Foresight team remained on the main mausoleum's marble steps, seemingly idle.
"Arche, shouldn't we start exploring the smaller shrines too? Otherwise, all the good stuff will be snatched by the other teams," complained Hekkeran, the team leader, scratching his head.
"Yeah, Arche. While we don't lack money anymore, who doesn't want more treasure?" added Imina, the vice-captain, her tone laced with curiosity.
Hekkeran was a strikingly handsome man with golden hair, while Imina was a petite, purple-haired elf-human hybrid with long pointed ears. Despite her beauty, her figure was notably lacking. Even Arche, who was similarly modest in that regard, appeared slightly more endowed.
Their inactivity was at Arche's insistence. Unlike her original counterpart in the story, this version of Arche was far more calculating and powerful.
Though she hadn't flaunted much of her strength, her teammates knew Arche had surpassed the Realm of Heroes, a feat that had them in awe.
Moreover, under her guidance, they had successfully completed numerous high-risk missions, amassing a small fortune.
Despite their unchanged camaraderie, Arche's influence over the team had grown subtly yet profoundly.
In the original story, Hekkeran and Imina had been paralyzed by Ainz's magic while trying to cover Arche's escape, only to meet a horrifying fate as breeding hosts for the grotesque Kyouhukou's insects.
But the most tragic fate befell Roberdyck, the final member of their team.
Roberdyck was a well-built, altruistic man in his thirties who had become a worker to help the weak without being constrained by temples. Yet, he ended up as Ainz's test subject, enduring unimaginable horrors before being reduced to a grotesque, writhing meatball.
To Arche, Ainz had to die, and today was the day of reckoning.
"Haha, I'm not too worried. The real treasure's probably deep inside the ruins," remarked Roberdyck, stroking his golden beard with a hearty laugh.
"Hekkeran, Imina, relax," Arche reassured them with a smile. "By the end of this exploration, the treasures we'll obtain will far exceed your expectations."
And why wouldn't they? Arche intended to claim everything in the Great Tomb of Nazarick as her spoils.
With that, her gaze drifted toward the worker encampment outside the ruins, where Ainz, still masquerading as the adamantite-ranked adventurer Momon, awaited.
All was proceeding according to plan. Arche hadn't exposed Ainz's identity yet, ensuring the events would unfold as intended.
Her motives went beyond avenging her past self and teammates. She wanted to humiliate Ainz and give Eriri a grand spectacle, knowing how much she loved watching drama unfold.
Otherwise, she could have wiped Nazarick off the map with a flick of her wrist. But where would the fun in that be?
It wasn't long before the worker teams, having completed their preliminary exploration, gathered at the entrance of the main mausoleum.
In the original story, none of these teams survived. However, Arche had no intention of persuading them to retreat.
As the saying goes, "Cutting off someone's wealth is akin to killing their parents." Enticed by the promise of immense riches, these workers would never listen to her advice to leave. Instead, they would likely accuse her of wanting to monopolize the ruins for herself.
Moreover, most of these workers weren't exactly paragons of virtue, and some were downright deserving of their fate.
Take, for example, the so-called "Heavenly Warrior" swordsman standing arrogantly amidst the crowd. Behind him trailed three elven girls dressed in tattered clothing, their pointed ears cruelly cut in half—a sight that epitomized his cruelty.
Progressing deeper into the Great Tomb went remarkably smoothly. Arche refrained from showing any extraordinary displays of strength in front of the other teams.
Once the teams split up, Arche and her group encountered several waves of undead creatures.
At the moment, they were facing down a horde of undead, but Hekkeran and the other two showed no signs of panic.
They had faced far more perilous situations recently. With Arche, their powerful teammate, at their side, they feared nothing.
As expected, Arche dispatched the undead with ease, obliterating them with a single spell.
Arche knew that Ainz was monitoring the teams' actions but wasn't concerned that her performance would alarm him. After all, she was merely taking down a few low-level undead, none exceeding level 20.
If anything, her actions were likely to pique Ainz's curiosity even further.
Just as the last of the undead fell, a magic circle suddenly appeared beneath Arche and her teammates.
The next moment, a blinding white light enveloped the four of them.
When the light dissipated, the scene before them had completely changed.
Looking at the dimly lit corridor and the bright glow emanating from its end, a sly smile curved across Arche's lips.
"Finally, the real show begins," Arche remarked with a chuckle, her crisp voice echoing down the stone walls.
Her comment wasn't directed at her teammates but rather to the group members currently watching her livestream.
At the same time, the chat group erupted in a frenzy of rapid-fire tips and comments. With each group member now flush with their own 3 billion points, they were more than willing to toss a small fraction of their wealth as tips.
[Ding! Eriri (Level 8, Stage 8) has tipped 100,000 points to the stream.]
[Eriri (Level 8, Stage 8): Is it starting, Arche? I'm looking forward to your performance!]
[Ding! Chika Fujiwara (Level 5, Stage 4) has tipped 5,000 points to the stream.]
[Chika Fujiwara (Level 5, Stage 4): Go get 'em, Arche!]
[Ruri Gokou (Level 5, Stage 3): Charge! Charge!]
[Ding! Ruri Gokou (Level 5, Stage 3) has tipped 5,000 points to the stream.]
[Ding! Arifureta (Level 5, Stage 9 / Group Leader) has tipped 10,000 points to the stream.]
[Arifureta (Level 5, Stage 9 / Group Leader): Here's 10,000 points. Can't wait to see the look on Bone Daddy's face when he realizes Arche's strength. laugh.jpg]
[Chika Fujiwara (Level 5, Stage 4): Haha, I can already picture it.]
[Ding! Kiss-Shot (Level 5, Stage 9) has tipped 10,000 points to the stream.]
[Kiss-Shot (Level 5, Stage 9): Kekeke, count me in on the fun!]
[Ding! Nodoka Haramura (Level 5, Stage 7) has tipped 10,000 points to the stream.]
[Nodoka Haramura (Level 5, Stage 7): Um, me too...]
[Ding! Yuuki Asuna (Level 5, Stage 4) has tipped 5,000 points to the stream.]
[Ding! Lala (Level 7, Stage 1) has tipped 5,000 points to the stream.]
[Ding! Elaina (Level 5, Stage 5) has tipped 5,000 points to the stream.]
[Ding! Kaguya Shinomiya (Level 5, Stage 4) has tipped 5,000 points to the stream.]
"What's going on? Arche, do you know where we are?" Hekkeran asked, his tone tinged with confusion as he surveyed their unfamiliar surroundings.
Imina and Roberdyck also turned to Arche, awaiting her explanation.
However, seeing the confident smile on Arche's face, their initial apprehension melted away.
Arche's earlier muttered comment hadn't escaped their notice. Though they weren't entirely sure what she had meant by "the real show," her demeanor reassured them that she had anticipated their current situation.
"Mm, at the end of this corridor is an arena," Arche began to explain. "It's part of the sixth floor of this underground tomb."
"Arche, how do you know so much about this place? Have you been here before?" Imina asked curiously.
Over the past three months, Arche had undergone a dramatic transformation. While her personality and demeanor still matched the Arche they knew, her strength had grown by leaps and bounds. To this day, none of them knew the true extent of her power.
They also had no idea what had triggered such a monumental change in her.
Arche had kept the existence of the chat group a secret from everyone except her younger sisters. It wasn't that she didn't trust Imina and the others—she simply felt the time wasn't right.
Had they asked her directly, she wouldn't have hesitated to tell them the truth.
After all, ever since witnessing the memory images of how her teammates had sacrificed themselves to protect her, Arche had come to see them as family.
Shaking her head, Arche replied earnestly, "I've never been here before, but I've gathered a lot of information. Besides, everything that's happening now is the main reason I came here."
