The Tycoon System: I Have a Universal Land

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Xu Yiru

"Host! Of the 1.4 billion yuan you've acquired, only that amount comes from your company. The remaining 9 billion is provided by the Universal Land and the system. Assets from these sources don't count toward upgrading either the system or your personal level," the system explained.

"Oh, I see. That means there are still a few days before the auction. The 11 billion yuan I have might grow even more by then!"

Shang Yunyan wasn't well-versed in the real estate industry, nor did he understand the land prices in the capital. His only option was to accumulate as much as possible.

Exiting the Universal Land interface, Shang Yunyan stepped onto the expansive balcony of his home. The morning sunlight bathed the vast estate below. For a moment, he thought the system might be right—if he could bring in some pandas, alpacas, or other animals to roam the yard, it could be a wonderful way to live.

Right now, though, he had a bigger issue to address: explaining to his parents how he'd come to live in such a massive villa, complete with a housekeeper, luxury cars, and a company under his name.

After a long deliberation, Shang Yunyan decided to tell them he'd won the lottery. He couldn't bear the thought of his parents continuing to live in the remote village of Daluo, especially during the harsh, cold winters.

"Hello, Mom? What are you up to?"

"Yunyan! Your dad and I are harvesting the fields. It's autumn, and if we don't get it done soon, next month's frost will ruin the vegetables!"

"Mom, I need to tell you something. I bought a house in the capital. And a car too."

"Son, it's almost noon. Are you still half-asleep?"

"I'm serious! I won the lottery. I used the money to buy a house, a car, and some company shares. Things are going pretty well for me here. I want to bring you and Dad over to live with me."

There was a long silence on the other end of the call.

"Son, your father and I have to stay home this year. He's the eldest son, and it's his duty to observe the mourning period for your grandfather. We can talk about other things next year," his mother finally said.

"I see. Alright then. But Mom, I'm sending you and Dad some money. Please use it to take care of yourselves. Go on a trip, relax a little, and don't worry about the vegetables in the fields. I'm really concerned about your health."

"Son, we don't need your money. Life in the capital is expensive, and you need it more than we do. Let's leave it at that—I've got dirty hands right now and can't keep talking," his mother replied hurriedly before hanging up.

To her, Shang Yunyan's "house" and "car" probably meant a small apartment and a basic vehicle. She couldn't have imagined the reality of his current situation.

After thinking for a while, Shang Yunyan transferred 2 million yuan to his mother's account. That amount would be more than enough for his parents to live comfortably in Daluo Village for years to come.

Having sent the money, Shang Yunyan wandered through his garden. His massive villa estate included two smaller villas, which he'd allocated to the staff, except for Duan Yurou. She lived on the second floor of his villa, while the third floor remained vacant. Knowing that Shang Yunyan planned to bring his parents over in the future, Duan Yurou had already cleaned and prepared the rooms.

Sitting on the swing near the front gate to relax, he was interrupted by a knock on the outer gate.

"Coming! Who's there?" he called out as he approached the gate.

"Hello, sir! I live at No. 11. I was hoping to borrow something," came a polite, feminine voice from outside.

Shang Yunyan opened the gate to find a beautiful young woman, about 170 cm tall, standing there. Her eyes widened momentarily when she saw him but quickly returned to normal as she spoke. "Hi, I'm your neighbor. Do you happen to have a weed trimmer and an Allen wrench?"

"Uh... I'm not sure. Hold on, I'll ask the housekeeper," Shang Yunyan replied, unfamiliar with what an Allen wrench even looked like.

Behind him, Lingling stepped forward. "Young Master, we don't have a weed trimmer. Our lawn is maintained by a professional team on a regular schedule. However, we do have an Allen wrench set inside."

"Oh, alright. Come in, and I'll have someone get it for you," Shang Yunyan said naturally, leading the way back into the estate.

Xu Yiru swore she had never seen a house this grand before. Even during her university days abroad, she had never encountered such an enormous villa with such sprawling grounds. It resembled a castle more than a house.

"Your home is huge! The yard is enormous, and there are even two more villas outside the main house! It's so strange. My house is in the same neighborhood, but it's much smaller and so far away," Xu Yiru said, awestruck.

Curious, Shang Yunyan turned to ask, "Aren't all the houses in Tianhua Elite Villas the same?"

"No, Young Master," Duan Yurou interjected. "Only your No. 13 is the most prestigious. The other villas range from 1,000 to 2,000 square meters, with much smaller yards—only a fraction of yours. Of course, the price difference is substantial too. Miss, here's the Allen wrench you needed. I'm sorry we don't have a weed trimmer."

Xu Yiru took the tools Duan Yurou handed her and nodded gratefully. "Thank you! I'll return these as soon as possible."

"Lingling, see her out," Duan Yurou instructed.

"Understood, Yurou," Lingling replied.

As Shang Yunyan watched the young woman leave, he thought to himself, What a polite and adorable neighbor.
