Top Assassins Call Me The Lady Boss

Chapter 44: Crazy by default

Chapter Forty- Four

"It's Ahmet!" Another man shouted and she snapped her head in that direction. Was she surprised? Disappointed or did she feel betrayed?

She had suspected him at first but she knew he wouldn't be so low as to do that to her. Did he want to sleep with her so badly that, he would do anything?

'Please,' her plea from the night echoed in her head again. She had begged him when she was under the influence.

However, she remembered correctly, that he didn't do it. If it were him, why didn't he do it when she had begged? He could have had her.

'He kissed you earlier without your consent, forgotten so soon?' another tiny, and irritated voice echoed in her head. When he had forced her to eat, he kissed her. 'Yeah, and if he had wanted to put you under the influence, it would've been that night when he forced you to eat.' another voice echoed.

What was this? Since when did she start thinking too hard?

"See, Maxwell here had a land he wanted. There was nothing he needed in return from Ahmet. Then he promised he'll have you attend the meeting." The man concluded and Asli's head started spinning around again. If not for Ahmet, she wouldn't have come. But how did that mean he put something in her water?

"As much as I didn't want to mention his name, the truth is out now. Derick, let me speak. Ahmet would do anything and everything to get what he wanted. However, he is still one of our friends. Feel free to investigate whatever you think we did to you." the man she now knew was Maxwell spoke without any sign of guilt.

But then she still had a hunch. It was either Maxwell who did it or Ahmet and whoever it was, she did not care. She hated Maxwell's guts and Ahmet was going to die tomorrow anyway.

She turned to leave the room and heard how the Mafia leaders let out a collective sigh of relief. The quiet whoosh of air, made her turn her head sharply at them and she saw the gradual relaxation of their shoulders and the faint smile on their lips. She despised the sound, the smugness on their faces, and their belief that they were safe.

A spark of wrath flared within her, causing a rapid rush of adrenaline. She fully turned around so they would all see the intense fury in her eyes. They all flinched and before any of them could react, her hand automatically reached for her revolver. Her fingers locked around it with deadly familiarity.

Within seconds she raised the gun and fired at the chandelier. The sound of shattering glass and crunching metal filled the air as the light fixture came crashing down, plunging the room into darkness.

The Mafia leaders froze, momentarily stunned into silence. She could hear their heartbeat from where she stood... even through the noise. She seized the opportunity, her gun trained on Maxwell.

A cold, and calculated glint in her eye, she pulled the trigger. The sound of the gunshot was deafening, and Maxwell's anguished scream pierced the air as the others asked if she had shot him.

The room erupted into chaos, the darkness amplifying the sense of panic. She could hear the frantic rustling of clothes, the desperate fumbling for phones, and the muttered curses. But she was already turning her back on them with her gun still clutched in her hand.

As she strode out of the hall, she could feel their eyes on her, their fear and anger and shock. But she didn't flinch, and neither did she look back. She knew that to do so would be to show sympathy, and she was anything but sympathetic.

She was here and listened to their plans, didn't she? Good. Because she was going to ruin every plan of theirs. "Robbing the bank my ass." She whispered as she drove away.
