Chapter 14: The Examiner (2)
When Ahcehera approached the main station, the bustling crowd stilled, and a wave of silent awe rippled through the assembled personnel.
Heads turned, and eyes followed her every movement. Her unyielding aura, coupled with a face devoid of emotion, demanded both respect and caution.
Whispers flickered through the crowd, but no one dared approach her.
"Strategist Hera..." one soldier muttered under his breath, barely audible.
Unfazed by the attention, Ahcehera stopped near the command console.
Her gaze swept over the holographic displays, noting the students' positions and the examiners' movements. Without a preamble, she issued her orders.
"Inform Admiral Stone that I will roam the planet when night falls," she said, her voice steady and commanding.
The officer closest to her hesitated, concern flickering in his eyes. "Strategist Hera, it is dangerous to explore at night. The planet's terrain is..."
"Just do as I say," Ahcehera interrupted, her tone leaving no room for argument.
"Yes, Strategist," the officer replied, bowing slightly before hurrying off to relay her command.
Ahcehera's eyes returned to the displays.
Though she stood still, her mind was already mapping her night plans, calculating risks, and preparing for whatever the planet might throw her way.
The darkness holds answers. I need to uncover them.
With a final glance at the holograms, she turned, her cape trailing behind her like a shadow as she exited the station. The crowd parted instinctively, giving her a wide berth.

It wasn't long before Ahcehera received Captain Ava's reconnaissance report and additional data about the planet.
The findings were both fascinating and foreboding.
Planet 0072 consisted of 60% water and 40% land, and its terrain was a chaotic blend of active volcanoes, deep seas, freshwater lakes, and unknown landforms.
Towering carnivorous plants dominated sections of the landscape, their vines thick and pulsating, while others lay dormant, appearing deceptively benign.
These plants might truly harvest lives.
The fauna, almost exclusively carnivorous, had sharp teeth and gleaming eyes that hinted at their predatory instincts.
Plants are ferocious and without food or water, the students will be forced to scavenge.
Several cave-like structures had been identified across the land, their interiors uncharted and shrouded in mystery.
Only the fittest and the strongest will remain on this planet.
Deaths are inevitable.
Captain Ava's team had marked them as potential hazards, but no deeper exploration had been attempted due to limited time.
I wish they could have prepared more information and sent it to several instructors and examiners.
Ahcehera pored over the details with growing unease.
These caves give me a different feeling.
There were no signs of Zerg infestations yet, but her memory of the novel painted a starkly different picture.
She recalled vividly how the villainess princess had been trapped in one of those ghostly caves, surrounded by unhatched Zerg eggs.
Zergs!
Zombie virus!
The memory of that harrowing event sent a chill down Ahcehera's spine.
I must avoid the same tragedy from happening!
In the novel, the villainess barely survives by doing the unthinkable, ingesting the Zerg eggs to mask her scent and avoid detection by the silent Zerg army guarding the nest.
It was a gamble that had paid off, but the trauma had scarred the villainess deeply.
Ahcehera's gaze darkened. I need to locate that cave and warn everyone about it. If my memory serves me right, it's close to the sea. The students must not go anywhere near it.
She committed herself to action. As night fell, the alien skies cast an eerie glow, the stars illuminating the rugged terrain below. Ahcehera suited up and prepared to depart.
Her armored war spacecraft gleamed under the faint moonlight, a masterpiece of military engineering.
Compact yet powerful, it resembled a sleek, flying car equipped for battle.
It could traverse long distances at breakneck speed, powered by a combination of energy stones and solar energy, making it ideal for the harsh conditions of Planet 0072.
Accompanying her were three colonels, a brigadier general, and a squad of ten war soldiers, all armed to the teeth.
The group of fifteen set off from the main station, the sound of their crafts cutting through the stillness of the night.
Ahcehera piloted her spacecraft with precision, her mind already calculating their route.
The air was thick with tension as they left the relative safety of the main station, venturing into the unknown. The landscape seemed alive, shadows moving in the corners of her vision.
Her grip on the controls tightened.
We must find that cave before it's too late.
-
Ahcehera directed her spacecraft northward, heading toward Zones 1, 2, and 3.
The northern terrain was rugged, marked by dense vegetation and scattered cliffs that created natural obstacles for the students.
Along the way, the team observed students scattered across the area. Some were locked in fierce battles with the planet's massive beasts, their weapons blazing with energy blasts.
Others were resting in makeshift shelters, nursing injuries, or hiding from the predators that roamed freely.
The creatures were colossal, with scales that glimmered under the pale moonlight and claws that gouged deep scars into the earth.
The team adhered to strict examination protocols, they had no right to intervene unless a life was in critical danger.
Remaining concealed, they masked their movements from the students to avoid giving away their presence.
Inside her spacecraft, Ahcehera monitored the situation through the live feeds from the flying camera bots scattered across the zones.
She had requested full access to their footage, meticulously setting distinct alarms to alert her if a life-threatening situation arose or if anything unusual was detected in the examination zones.
Suddenly, an alert blared through her control panel. One of the flying camera bots had been destroyed.
"What happened?" Ahcehera demanded sharply.
A soldier controlling another bot redirected it to the site of the disturbance.
The camera zoomed in, its lens scanning the area, but before it could relay any useful data, the feed was cut off abruptly. The second bot had been destroyed as well.
A heavy silence fell over the team.
"Prepare for immediate deployment," Ahcehera ordered. "Something's not right."
The armored war spacecraft shifted into high speed as the team raced toward the site. Ahcehera's mind raced faster.
The location of the destroyed bots was disturbingly close to a designated examination area, one hosting over a hundred students.
