Chapter 14: 14. A Gentle Misunderstanding
Kingsly Scott stayed in the presidential suite, which included a small dining area where they shared their meal.
His manners were impeccable, and he ate almost silently. Rachel Foster kept her head down, barely tasting the food, her mind occupied with thoughts of what would come that night.
After they finished dining, Kingsly called the server to clear the table. Feeling restless, Rachel wandered over to the floor-to-ceiling window, captivated by the night view.
Once the server had finished, Kingsly approached her from behind, embracing her gently. "Do you like the view here?"
Rachel's body stiffened, her heart racing. "I... yes."
Kingsly leaned in, softly kissing her delicate neck, his voice muffled. "I like how you look in pajamas."
Her heart pounded even harder, her face flushed with embarrassment. "Don't misunderstand... I stayed at Silverstone all night, didn't bathe or rest, so I..."
"Do you love Jasper a lot?" he asked, turning her to face him.
Face to face, his hands wrapped around her slender waist. She looked into his dreamy eyes, her heart racing, body tense and unable to move, staring at him with wide, apprehensive eyes.
Her scent filled his breath, and the male desire it evoked made his eyes even more heated and hazy.
She looked at him uneasily, her mind blank.
"Are you afraid of me?" he asked her.
She heard her own nervous heartbeat softly replying, "Yes..."
"Am I that scary?"
She took a deep breath. "No, it's because I have to please you."
He chuckled. "You're honest."
She managed a small smile.
"A good girl like you deserves to be treated well," he said.
"Huh?"
He laughed again, taking her hand and leading her to the large bed in the room.
He had already brought her to the bed before she could figure out what he meant. Her heart raced, feeling like it might leap out of her chest.
He suddenly picked her up.
She let out a soft cry as her body was lifted, her arms instinctively wrapping around his neck.
He gave a faint smile, gently laying her on the bed.
She immediately closed her eyes, trembling with nervousness, as the lights around them dimmed, her heart in her throat.
However, the expected touch didn't come. Instead, he pulled the covers over her.
She slowly opened her eyes, looking at him in confusion.
He sat on the edge of the bed, his face showing a gentle smile. "You probably haven't slept well these days. Get a good night's sleep here tonight." With that, he stood up.
She immediately reached out to grab him. "You..." She couldn't bring herself to say what was on her mind.
He chuckled, turned back, and gently laid her back on the bed, speaking softly. "I love my wife very much and won't be unfaithful to her. Being with Natalie Lewis was just for show... As for tonight, I invited you here just because you seemed very tired, and I wanted you to rest. I naturally care for women. Of course, don't worry, I'll still help you."
