Vampire Queen : Fated Love

Chapter 29: Chapter 29 : Family first!!

Eithan, despite his lazy and carefree nature, had one unshakable principle: family always came first.

He might avoid work, procrastinate on tasks, or feign indifference, but when it came to standing up for his family, Eithan never wavered.

His loyalty was unwavering, even when frustrations bubbled beneath the surface. The situation with Josh, however, had pushed his patience to the limit.

Eithan leaned against the wall, his arms crossed as he observed Adi. The younger boy looked embarrassed, fidgeting awkwardly under the weight of their disagreement.

It was clear that Adi wasn't used to seeing his brothers argue, especially over something as personal as responsibility. Moments ago, Adi had been terrified, caught up in thoughts of vampires and ghosts. Now, his fear had been entirely replaced by a sense of shame.

The shift in emotions was almost enough to make Eithan feel bad, but his frustration with Josh remained firm.

---

Ruhr, standing beside Eithan, had her arms crossed as well, her expression hardened with disapproval.

"It's not just about disagreeing,"

she said softly, though her tone carried a sharp edge.

"It's about priorities. You don't just ignore your sibling because you want to chase after a girl. That's... pathetic."

Eithan nodded, his jaw tightening.

"Exactly. Family is family. You don't throw that away for something temporary."

Adi, still red-faced, looked up at his older siblings with wide eyes.

"I didn't mean to cause any trouble,"

he mumbled, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I just... I got scared, that's all."

Ruhr softened slightly, kneeling beside Adi and resting a hand on his shoulder.

"It's not your fault, Adi. You did the right thing by coming to us. Josh should've been there for you, but he wasn't. That's on him, not you."

Adi nodded hesitantly, still feeling like he had somehow caused the tension. But the warmth in his sister's voice helped ease the knot in his chest.

Eithan, however, was still stewing.

"Where is Josh now, anyway?" he asked, his tone clipped.

Leo, who had been silently observing the exchange, spoke up from where he stood by the doorway.

"I believe he's in his room, young master," he said calmly, his voice as steady as ever.

Eithan's eyes narrowed slightly, and for a moment, it looked like he might march straight to Josh's room and confront him. But then he exhaled deeply, his usual laid-back demeanor creeping back into place.

"Figures," he muttered, shaking his head.

"Of course, he's holed up somewhere, probably daydreaming about girl's instead of thinking about what he's done."

Ruhr's lips pressed into a thin line.

"Typical Josh," she said.

"Always thinking with his heart instead of his head."

---

In his room, Josh was indeed lost in his own world. Sitting on the edge of his bed, he stared out the window with a faraway look in his eyes.

The sunlight streamed through the glass, casting a warm glow over the room, but Josh hardly noticed. His mind was elsewhere—entirely consumed by thoughts of Sarah.

To Josh, Sarah wasn't just another girl. She was... different. Special. He had never met anyone like her before.

In his mind, she was a vision of perfection: her long black hair shimmering like silk, her blue eyes sparkling like sapphires, and her pale skin glowing with an ethereal light. She was a muse, a goddess, a living embodiment of beauty itself.

Josh's thoughts began to take on a poetic quality, as if he were composing an ode to Sarah in his head.

"From the moment I was born,"

he thought, "I've known many girls. But you... you're the first to captivate me like this. Your hair, darker than the deepest night. Your eyes, brighter than the clearest sky. Your skin, as pure as freshly fallen snow."

He sighed dreamily, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

In his mind, Sarah was like autumn: gentle, fleeting, and impossibly beautiful.

She was the warmth of the sun on a crisp fall day, the vibrant colors of the leaves as they danced in the wind, the quiet serenity of a world preparing for rest. She was the sun and the moon, the flower and the tree, the very essence of nature itself.

Josh leaned back against the headboard, his hands resting behind his head as he continued to daydream.

In his mind's eye, he and Sarah were walking hand-in-hand through a field of golden leaves, her laughter ringing like a melody in his ears.

He imagined the way her hair would catch the sunlight, the way her eyes would sparkle when she looked at him.

"She's perfect," he thought to himself.

"Absolutely perfect."

But as he basked in his fantasies, there was a knock at the door.

Josh's dreamy expression immediately darkened, his brows furrowing in irritation. He sat up, glaring at the door as if it had personally offended him.

"Who is it?" he snapped, his voice sharp and impatient.

"It's me," came Adi's hesitant voice from the other side of the door.

Josh groaned, running a hand through his hair in frustration.

"What do you want, Adi? Can't you see I'm busy?"

Adi hesitated for a moment before replying, his voice small.

"I... I just wanted to see if you were okay."

Josh clenched his fists, his temper flaring.

"Seriously, Adi? You're disturbing me for that? I'm fine. Go bother someone else."

There was a long pause, and for a moment, Josh thought Adi had left. But then, the door creaked open slightly, and Adi peeked inside, his expression timid.

"I just... I didn't want to be alone," he admitted quietly.

Josh's anger flared even hotter.

"You're unbelievable," he spat, standing up and stomping toward the door.

"You can't just come barging in here whenever you feel like it. Go find Ruhr or Eithan if you're so scared. I have better things to do."

Adi flinched at the harshness of Josh's tone, his eyes watering slightly. Without another word, he turned and hurried away, his footsteps echoing down the hall.

Josh slammed the door shut, muttering under his breath.

"Unbelievable," he said again, shaking his head.

"Doesn't he realize I have more important things to think about?"

But as he sat back down on the bed, the guilt began to creep in. He tried to push it away, telling himself that Adi was just being a nuisance.

But deep down, he knew that Eithan and Ruhr would never have treated Adi that way.

Josh sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair again.

"Why does everything have to be so complicated?" he muttered. But even as he tried to shake off the guilt, his thoughts drifted back to Sarah, and the cycle began anew.

" Is this because of love ?? How much prideful I am to fallen love for you "
