Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Victor Luxenberg
Victor Luxenberg was a boy born to Duke Vipon Luxenberg and his wife Vaella Cassell. He is the oldest of 4 children. He spent his entire life in Hannover, the capital city of the Dukedom of Luxenbeg. A once bustling city surrounding a glorious palace. Now a poor and quiet city with its splendour diminishing in recent years
Victor had almost turned 17 years of age and was of moderate height. With his long purple hair and light blue eyes, he was certainly the spitting image of his parents. Vipon is a tall handsome man with cold blue eyes and black hair.
Vaella was a slender woman with smooth and wavy purple hair. Her silver eyes were as mesmerising as a full moon. However, Victor couldn't remember his mother's soft smile or her face in general.
Victor was almost 2 years old when his mother Vaella died while giving birth to his first sibling Veronica. Due to complications during the birth, the attending physician had to cut Veronica out of Vaella's womb. The decision to proceed with the life-ending procedure was none other than Vipon.
Veronica managed to survive the birth and is now a short but sweet 15-year-old. Like Victor, she grew up despised by her father Vipon. Neither of them could figure out why their father despised them and showed not a single ounce of love to them.
It got so bad for Veronica that at the age of 12, she begged her maternal grandparents the Duke and Duchess of Cassell to take her in due to lack of love from her father and the harsh treatment she received from her half-sibling and stepmother.
Warmly they accepted her with open arms as Veronica resembled her mother so much so they couldn't even think of refusing her. Victor on the other hand was forced to stay in the Dukedom due to him being the presumed heir of Vipon Lineage.
Although the title of 'Heir' was in name only. The usual respect and power garnered from such a title was non-existent. Not only did his father treat him poorly but so did the vassals, soldiers and palace staff.
It was clear that the Duke of Luxenberg favoured the children of his second wife: Josephine Cruyff.
Josephine Cruyff is the sister of a neighbouring duke. Harold Cruyff and Vipon Luxenberg were once enemies due to minor border disputes that caused some petty skirmishes that ultimately led to pointless deaths.
When Vipon's wife died he quickly offered Josephine as a potential replacement since she was similar in age to him and rare beauty on the continent.
Her red hair and golden eyes could leave any man breathless. Accompanied with a stunning body and soothing voice it would be near impossible to refuse such a bride. Vipon excitedly accepted and with no time she had birthed a set of healthy twins, a boy and a girl.
Klaus and Katrina became Victor's newest siblings and they had everything he didn't. For starters, they were spoiled rotten and dotted on by both their parents.
They were only 3 years younger, but it was hard for Victor to deal with them. If the twins did something wrong or bullied their older siblings they would feign innocence and the matter would be dropped. Even with evidence, the cries of Victor and Veronica would fall on deaf ears.
What was worse was when Victor or Veronica took justice into their own hands and tried to scold or hit either of the twins they'd run crying to their parents and they'd unleash the wrath of two loving parents on them.
This would result in Victor or Veronica being locked in their rooms or forced to miss meals. Sometimes they would even get slapped by their father depending on his mood. It didn't matter what they did the twins could make trouble and just blame them.
Life at home became worse for Victor when Veronica left. The twins would destroy any prized possession of his whether it was his toy soldier or his favourite set of clothes. They even cracked Victor's most cherished item. A handheld mirror that belonged to his mother. From then on Victor made sure to hide anything of value to him.
Victor would never be able to make friends due to the everlasting torment inflicted by his youngest siblings or the constant lessons his father forced him to attend.
The lessons were hellish due to the old man constantly scolding and cracking a wooden stick on Victor's back for any failings during his lessons. Whether it was about history, military tactics or even literature if Victor got a single question wrong it would lead to disciplinary action.
Regardless of his pleading to make his lessons less brutal his father coldly said. "You are my heir. There should be no mistakes."
Marksmanship and Swordsmanship training was even worse. You could call it training but Victor called it brutality. When handling the sword he'd be consistently struck at beaten bloody by the instructor.
"Pain is the ultimate lesson Young Lord, remember that." Said the instructor with a cruel smile stretching ear to ear.
These were only a fraction of the emotional and physical abuse that Victor suffered from. It was an overwhelming feeling for Conrad experiencing all the pain and suffering that Victor went through.
"I will not let them hurt you anymore," Conrad whispered sobbing into his hand.
After a little while, Conrad managed to calm down. He still needed to understand more about the system and what it is capable of doing. More importantly, he wanted to know what the whole point of him being here was and how he came here.
'Understanding the system could help lead me to how this all came about. I'm pretty sure I died but I don't know how. Who was the voice that I woke up to?' All these thoughts swirled in Conrad's mind. He had been in this world for maybe 3 or 4 hours and he had gone through a lot already.
"I guess I am truly Victor Luxenberg now. I have his body and memories. I better get used to this," Conrad muttered to himself.
