Wheel of Actual Fortune

Chapter 1: An Actual Roll!

[ Due to these factors, you have recieved the Gacha System:

1. The world you find yourself in is headed for destruction

2. The character you find yourself in is fated to die

3. There are no opportunities available for you in your situation

4. You have knowledge about the concept of Gacha

5. It has been assessed that your luck is at rock bottom ]

"Ouch"

[ You have bound with the Gacha System ]

"First of all, cliche. Second of all, thanks.", I mutter quite drearily. I've been sitting on a park bench for quite some times already, trying to just process my situation for quite some time.

I've already accepted the fact I transmigrated an hour ago but the stress I underwent when I had to prepare to go in Belladonna Academia was really high when I had to also process my memories too.

I can't believe I've been transported in a villain novel, and in the second arc at that. That's just too much! I'm at a disadvantage no matter what. My only life saving key is this Gacha System.

My eyes widen, apparently I get my abilities from certain stories.

[ More Ability packs available in the future! Complete quests to get them! ]

Alright, tone down the question marks. It may be a guess but does the quest have something to do with the storyline?

[ Quest Name: The Great Filter

Quest Line: The Great Filter is the first plot point in the Second Arc of 'Dystopian Descent'

Quest Description: Quest taker must stop The Great Filter.

Quest Reward: 2 Ability packs ]

I question the thought of having more ability packs. The more abilities meant more of the useless powers from their story but more ability packs also come with a chance for their respective overpowered abilities.

But it didn't matter, I still had to stop The Great Filter anyway, because I'm going to die there, according to my character.

I'm still sad about the fact that even though I possessed Kaizen, one of the one off characters, I still lost his ability.

His ability was to give buffs and effects to everything, which is very strong but unfortunately everyone else was stronger.

I might have had a problem if people already knew that but Kaizen never really used his power until ability practice. And since today is the first day, I can just change my story.

'Roll'

[ You have drawn 'Muda' from 'Bleach' ]

'Eh? How's that possi- oh ok..', I was confused at first how I was going to use this ability but it's apparently modified to suit the power system of this world.

I open my phone camera to look at myself as I went to school. I used up all the excess time to process everything, I now have to face the storyline head on.

"Huh, faint snake skin...", I saw my neck having faint snake skin patterns. Thinking about it apparently makes it appear as I experimented on making that feature visible or not. Safe to say I can have faint snake features appear on my face, neck, wrist, and thighs. I don't know why there though.

Abilities in this world revolve around the concept they have since their existence. A person with the fire concept will have fire abilities and so one. The conditions for acquiring these abilities also depend on that concept and there isn't a sure way of making abilities other than 2 conditions that increase your probability, which is the understanding of your concept and the desire and experience of creating a specific ability related to your concept.

Take for example Kaizen's concept, which is 'Enhance', while he could not discover the specific word, he was able to vaguely determine it due to his capability of giving buffs. He's made abilities such as 'Stat Buff', that enhance the stats, and also 'Special Effect', that give special functions to items.

If only he stopped thinking in game terms, he might have had a better understanding of 'Enhance', I could think of a few but they're all behind me now.

As I look at the academy from afar, I couldn't help but think if I also had a concept.

[ Due to being the host of the Gacha System, your concept has been overridden to be 'Gacha System'. And anything you acquire from here is your abilities ]

Interesting, now no one can guess my concept. Sometimes people finding out your concept can be a downfall since countermeasures can be made against your abilities or they could cut off your opportunities in making more abilities.

I scratch my head, maybe I'm a bit paranoid but I might start going crazy anyway if I'm going to be meeting that villain of a protagonist, Gu Kiseong, also known as Dystopia.

I enter the school with that thought of dread, it's like willingly going to a slaughter house, no, rather, it's walking into a minefield, you may survive but it's unlikely and every step fills you with that dread.

It contrasts with the fresh breeze and cool weather, I can still smell the fragrance of the academy's front garden but I knew the poison waiting, which made me feel conflicted.

This world, this school, it's where humanity's 'last hope' stands. Just 3 days ago, Dystopia took down Alita, the Shining Valkyrie, who stood as the strongest hero and symbol of hope for the people.

This meant that we've entered an era of chaos under Discordia, Dystopia's organization of villains with the top heads forming the Insanitas Brigade, Dystopia being the strongest and unquestionably their ruler.

Their goal? They have their respective ideals but they're united under a banner of causing chaos, whether that be their endgoal or means to that end.

But for Dystopia, his has been clear, especially to Utopia, the opposing hero faction. His goal is for a universe of dystopia, and at the end of the novel, he really did succeed and he made sure it would be like that for as long as he lived.

Now my back was cold and legs trembling for a second, but I made myself bounce in my steps just to keep myself going. I had to stop it.

I made it to class early, even if I took a lot of time in the park, I actually panicked when I transmigrated after all. In fact, I could have taken my time to pack my stuff.

I placed my things down near the window and tried to leave the deserted place.

I made my way to the roof to get some fresh air, and also to use my abilities. Passing the hallways, I could see some students already here, most were the studious or athletic types who came round early morning for the facilities this academy provided.

Usually that'd be a good time to meet up with others and build some great bonds. With that said, I could already see some 3 guys trying to outrun each other outside the window, or are they playing tag? Not too interested in what they're doing except that I notice their feature's match some descriptions I know.

Red hair, blue eyes, cocky attitude, definitely Heinz Durt. Grey hair, really fast, and sanpaku green eyes, Griff Talks. Curly black hair, brown skin, brown eyes, he's Keene Boulevard.

They're... significant characters, just that they're going to oppose the main character, you know? Which means they're headed for destruction.

Passing the second floor, the library happened to be near the stair case and I could see a boy and a girl silently reading together. If I had to say, the author was great at portraying romance but he let them suffer such a tragic fate?

I mean, in terms of tragedy plots, it's 10/10 but I really had hoped they'd escaped in the end...

I sigh as I keep going up, not intending to stop by those two, Samuel Shinefort and Mula Brinestar.

This was a three story building so I made it to the top eventually, I could see the sky and the traffic in the distance, the cars speeding through with magnetism and electricity is still fascinating but that's how it is with sci-fi technology.

Thinking about it, this world setting should have space travel, science fiction, and super powers.

So far, with the current society, we've only discovered hostile alien races, but the future tells of an encounter with a society much more advanced than us. By that time, Dystopia had been ready for a greater stage.

Putting that aside, I used my power. My skin molted as it expanded outward with a barrier made out of energy. It covered half a meter around me till I was exhausted significantly.

This is Muda, it allows me to shed my skin and add it to a barrier made of energy, allowing me a domain of concealment and defense. It's peak form could be likened to a hill, if I remember correctly, so I'll have to develop it from here.

Thankfully, the laws of this world dictate 2 things about energy.

1. The more you train your abilities, the lower the energy consumption and higher your energy storage.

2. The more abilities you have, the higher the energy purity and higher your energy storage.

With that being said, I can rely on that second rule to give me high amounts of energy storage. While others can't guarantee obtaining an ability in a year much less in a quarter, I'd be raking in once a day for as long as I can live.

Glancing at the darkened space from the inside of my Muda, I can see how the place is able to conceal me using optic camouflage and energy barrier. This means vision, thermal, and energy visions won't be able to see me, and will be bent to keep me and anyone inside invisible.

This is a good ability, I hope I'll roll something just as good tomorrow.
