Chapter 2: Muda Muda Muda Muda?
I snaked my hands across my body, I could feel the sliminess from molting. It's kind of gross but I do with what I have.
I walked around the roof and apparently Muda follows around with me, which checks out. It's still consuming power but significantly less than activating it, so I start to go down the stair, I see as the energy barrier ignored the walls, I could see the optic camouflage snake around the walls, it's much more obvious from the inside but if I could take a guess, the outside hadn't changed.
I tried changing the size and it's also consumed energy, as I had to adjust the energy barrier with more energy. I would like to argue about the sense of energy consumption from shrinking a barrier but it's not like that'd make a difference.
The cooler air inside the school, much more than outside, gave me a satisfying chill on my slimy skin. Note to self, prepare towels.
Down back to my classroom I thought about consulting a teacher later on researching the molt liquid I had from molting just to make sure of some things. Thankfully, I'm not so autistic, bless those people, that I'd immediately go to the teacher staff.
I had a pressing matter of banding together some students earlier on and pushing them to their limits, gather enemies under the banner of a larger enemy, gradually hints to the school and Utopia of an impending doom, and lastly foil that darned Dystopia's plan.
I rubbed my chin, the cold is making me shiver somewhat, and I can't help to shiver more about the future, but I still kept my calm. I opened my phone to check myself, my hair's kind of damp so I groomed it a bit to fit the 'slightly wet' style, it's also cool that I have white hair. I'm not so sure about my red eyes though, but I can't argue about that, it's literally me.
In terms of handsomeness, I might be half-pretty boy and half-refined. I really can't describe it but I feel like my face is for an aristocrat. It's baffling to be honest.
Alright, that's enough narcissistic thoughts. Even girls might not be obsessed over their looks.
I open my notebook as I began writing a timeli- the wind blew on the pages. I swept my eyes over the window in annoyance. Outside, I could see the breeze on the trees and a girl in blonde hair sitting on a bench, reading a book.
It's her, huh?
Utopia's last hope. At least that's what they believe.
I honestly pity her, for her to undergo such a burden, for exact birth to be purposed to go against a being she shouldn't have to face alone.
I suddenly feel melancholic, I'm a bit of a romantic so I can't help but imagine a battered image of her as she faced of Dystopia alone...
I raked my fingers over my hair as if to get it off my eyes. Yes, I want to save her, that 'villainess' called the Little Hope.
I wrote a timeline, the first arc introduced Gu Kiseong normally with a family of four with him included. What turned from a happy family was actually hiding an far darker secret.
Gu Kiseong's parents were rich and corrupt bigwigs who settled in obscurity as they pulled the strings from behind. His sister, let me reiterate, his adopted elder sister is a boss of the underworld.
That dude, no, monster is capable of huge destruction just with his family alone, not to mention his organization and his power. It's more horrifying as the list goes on.
The whole arc was a set up to kill Alita at the end. The reason why the family went here and there, the strange meetup with people. And the secret and vague conversations, Gu Kiseong were making with undercover agents.
There was almost nothing like that first arc, a slow slice of life interrupted with a fast paced scheme, well thought out fight, and a satisfying and tragic takedown.
It was perfect, they knew where Alita was and had planted a trusted backstabber by her side. Utopia found out a step slower even though they had prepared for that inevitable. Gu Kiseong didn't forget to do everything where population was high just to shake the hero's morals.
My hand felt weak, knowing that I just missed a massacre. It felt nothing like knowing that a world war happened in history, it felt so real even when I wasn't there.
"And he's coming. Damn, that sounds ominous.", I still felt complicated.
His goal for entering the academy in the second arc isn't clear at first, and that was because he only snuck in due to his ability Eyes of Despair.
It is an enigmatic ability that allows the user to find the path of greatest despair. And somehow, he saw that this academy would give society that utter helplessness. He wasn't wrong.
Little Hope, someone who came from the Shining Valkyrie, will become society's Last Hope. And she is going to be at his mercy.
...Not yet, I'm still here. I can feel that hope in myself, but it's being slogged by the creeping dread. It's fine, Dystopia eats hope for dinner, and he can smell fear, it's best to fall under his radar.
The Great Filter happens in 2 months from now, a practical exam turns into a joint terrorism of interest. A few parties band together to hit Belladonna Academy for their own agendas, and Dystopia took advantage of it.
I scratch my head in slight frustration as I listed down the organizations and their goals.
Black Thorn Assassins - Their goal is to kill hero who works as a staff in this school, they are a one of the pillars of Utopia. I can't let that happen.
Singularis Corp - In the goal of obtaining the origin of power. They're trying to kidnap a few key students, one who wields the Akashic Records, one who wields Immortality, and one who wields the Philosopher's Stone. They're important, I have to stop the kidnappings.
Evilus - In the goal of getting rid of people's stigma to people having evil concepts. They want to threaten government officials by kidnapping their sons and daughters. They may have a good motive but the means aren't justified.
Damao Sect - They're low on resources, and they can obtain a lot from the students of Belladona Academy, whether weak or strong. I'm not going to allow those psychopaths have the pleasure of torturing a
Insanitas Brigade - To assist the chaos and plunge the school into misery and suffering. Individuals involved also have their personal agendas too.
"...this is not that bad...", I mutter very sarcastically.
This won't do, I can't just rely on my system to do all the work for me.
Glancing to my left, the entrance door opens up and a girl with purple hair and black piercing eyes entered. Wow that's straight hair goes down a long way, is her head oka- right, superpowers.
She glances at me. What a way to just casually piece my barrier. I forgot every student in this school is kind of overpowered.
I felt a spark in my eyes, it was slight but I knew she used her ability to 'see' me.
Sparkle, it's the ability to meet someone's eyes directly. She uses it to find someone's locations. Both people with make eye contact regardless of distance or barrier as long as they're not blind.
I rub my eyelid a bit, feeling a bit droopy from my ability while waving my hand. Now that her ability is active, she can see my whole form through my nervous system.
If I remember, that ability comes from the concept that sparks fly when people's eyes make contact, and it became like that for her.
In contrast with her sharp eyes, she reservedly waved back and asked, "What's you name?"
Snapping my fingers, I revealed myself out of my Muda, "Kaizen, no last name."
"Oh? One of the Runners? Sorry that I asked...", The girl's eyes lit up with curiousity but then apologized immediately after asking about a sensitive topic.
"It's fine. I am a Runner. Do you know of planet Ezkavan?", I spilled to her the beans.
"Ezkavan, Ezkavan...uh ah! The planet taken over by Cypher.", She soon gave me a shocked look.
"Yep, I got lucky when one of Cypher's ships got raided by a Utopian ship enroute to the Damao Sect.", I shrugged pretty nonchalantly before asking, "How about you? Got a name?"
"Well do I? Wincy Willover.", Wincy half-sarcastically asks before giving me a brief answer before crossing her arms.
"Well, Wincy Willover, what wonderful name.", Since she's still standing. I stood alongside her. Since she crossed her arms, I opened my hands for a handshake, "We'll be stuck in this school for the next three years, let's get along?", I worded myself in a way that we're forced to be together in this manner while avoiding it to sound like I'm invading her personal space. Maybe I was a bit forceful by dropping my tone at the end?
"Uh huh? We'll see about that, hot shot.", She's trying not to sound interested but it seems I got into her good graces, she even shook my hand. That's good for now, it's not like I'm thinking of going any further.
"I don't miss, miss.", With a firm handshake, I went back to my seat as she did too. I've got more important things to deal with.
Muda
Another barrier appeared as I rested my fist on my chin. I'm considerably exhausted. I'll take a nap after writing down a few more stuff.
