Wheel of Actual Fortune

Chapter 4: Going for Class President!

e"May I have everyone's attention?", I stood up boldly once the teacher left.

Looking around and seeing the silence, I had created an authority just by letting my words linger in the air. While walking to the front I already began talking, "We're class 1-Alpha which makes us the best among the freshmen here in Belladona Academia.", I address them with my sweeping gaze, a moment of acknowledgement.

"Now you don't know me, for sure, so I am Kaizen. If you didn't already know, I was the one who startled my seatmate over there by appearing out of nowhere, sorry by the way.", I wave to him, he sighed with a, "Yeah, just don't jump me again."

"No guarantees!", I reply honestly.

Immediately after, not dwelling on that tangent, "Back on topic, We need a Class President that can represent the class fully. And I am in opinion that we have someone with both ability and smart to hold over us."

"Usually those in the front are the smart ones. What kind of president should we elect?", It's best to talk to the audience, and my original plan is to ask that to the whole class but I made a split second decision to check the front row because I'm fishing for a specific character there.

"I believe abilities do have some sway but we should consider if they can handle the position well, and see if they're willing.", Satoshi raised his hand as he answered, I knew this guy was going to answer so it makes things easier.

"If everyone agrees, should we nominate candidates and tally our votes?", This time I directed myself to the back with a huge gesture, hoping to elicit a consensus.

"...", Some students started chatting with each other, others giving shrugs and why nots.

Biding my time, my gaze went through each row before I reach the front one again, I had confirmed the unsaid agreement between the class and I just had to see if this one...

"Yes.", Mabel, in the front nods, wanting things to go over with. Yes, letting them feel in control of the situation is another aspect of trust so I responded to her and the class, "Come on then, who should we nominate first as president?"

When it comes to this system, those with more connections with the class is bound to be president if they desire, but other factors have to be taken in such as their willingness to play to role. How recognized they are as a leadership figure, and how that person would play into your interest if they're a leader.

People don't think like that but they do have simpler thoughts which work the same way.

'I'll just vote the president I knew back in middle school.', 'I'll tell the others I want to take a break from a leadership role', 'No matter what, she has to be our president, it went out so well with her.', 'I don't care who is leader, I'll just vote for the easiest one.', and 'I hope the leader isn't strict.', these thoughts, though simple underly their psyche and there are too many variations.

My goal is to not only know their general thoughts but to account for the general possibilities. And when it comes to first year votes, it's highly skewed to people you knew back from another school and leader figures you identify now, because everyone is a strange face here.

"U-uhm, I nominate Satoshi", When a guy, timid and short, raised his hand in slight hesitance, I didn't miss a beat and wrote his name on the whiteboard. Now, I have to say that I'm slightly paranoid, I didn't think that packing a marker with me would have been useful. It's also interesting that they're using whiteboards instead of the typical chalk and blackboard that I see in some schools too.

"Satoshi?", I look around in ignorance before I look to the same guy in the front seat, "Yes, that's me."

"You good?" "Yes."

"Anyone else? We take anyone.", I listed down 2 more before people closed the nominations.

While it was indeed saddening, no one did nominate me, which is one of the possibilities of this plan going south but isn't entirely out of my calculations.

"Then let's have a show of hands.", I continued. I didn't sulk, I haven't lost yet.

"...Congratulations, Satoshi. You've got majority vote.", When those who knew Satoshi voted for him, it was like a bandwagon effect that elicited everyone else to vote. He truly had it all with his temperament, past history, and his lineup of classmates from middle school. Overwhelming odds I can't compete with.

I clapped and everyone else did it along with me. In good gesture, I offered the whiteboard marker to him, "Would you like to do the honors, Mr. Prez?", I give him a playful grin.

I wasn't too overly serious after all. My goal is form friendships, not to take the top position of authority.

My plans can fail anytime, there is no guarantee, it's a gamble just like my Gacha System, and I'm willing to bet my odds.

"Don't mind me, Mr. Kaizen.",

"Call me Kaizen, Mr. Prez.", I pat his should as he replied back, "Just Satoshi is fine, Kaizen."

I merely smile at him, not replying. He'll have to wait before he knows if I listened. Humans are irrational creatures, sometimes one doubt can make them spiral on a sure thing. I like to bank of whether Satoshi thinks I heard him even when he clearly saw me acknowledge it.

At that point, it's just a matter of ones own self-confidence. And I'm sure he has that, so no worries.

"Thank you everyone for your trust, I won't let you down.", Just like his name, it seems he comes from a family of respectful etiquette, huh? I can see him bowing in thanks before proceedi-

"I'm sorry if it's abrupt. I'm going to nominate Kaizen for VP. Any concerns?", Satoshi has my back, for real. It seems he's more concerned about my consent because he made eye contact with me, I merely nodded.

Safe to say that I had the biggest break by befriending the president. And if the bandwagon effect worked for him, it's going to do the same now that he's backing me up.

The rest was history as we elected for a few more positions. Funnily enough, my seatmate, Bleu France, got Treasurer. As expected of a guy who I think could care less in most situations, I'm still not sure if he has any biases to close friends or not. I still don't get how he can have such a demeanor when he has such a soft... should I call it a baby face?

Anyway, with things done, I reintroduced myself to Bleu and we established some good friendship at the start. From my quest, I have already formally established two with Bleu and Satoshi. Wincy is on hold before we interact more.

[ Bonus Quest 'Extra Support' has met certain conditions:

Rewarding: 2 Gacha Spins]

"Kaizen.", Satoshi calls me over, I walk up to him, "Mr. Skipper, right Satoshi?"

"Yes. Let's meet with him first.", Satoshi nods at my quick thinking before we went.

Let's not waste time, 'Roll'

[ You have drawn 'Zangerin' from 'Bleach' ]

[ You have drawn 'Black Shadow Stone' from 'Yozakura Family' ]

...lemme check if... oh thankfully I don't have to practice chanting and can skip directly to using Hado 78 Zangerin but it seem I still need the energy reserves to do it effectively.

As for Black Shadow Stone, it's so powerful that it even has the aspect from the Hazakura Drug, the blooming effect takes place and ups the ante in my physical, mental, and even energy reserves. This is a huge buff!

For starters, Zangerin allows me to create a ring of energy outwards from a sword. It's a Kido sword that is able to slice of the whole building on all 360 degrees.

Black Shadow Stone is an ability where the person's body is composed of Black Shadow Stone alloy which changes shapes using electric shocks. In essence, that state allows the user to be liquid metal that can be both extremely sharp and deadly, while having extreme defense to it.

In fact, the ability could only be destroyed precisely by an attack made at a cellular level due to the fact that this organic alloy is stuck to the cells, a literal bio-weapon.

And it seems it doesn't stop there. Every ability had a blooming effect and Black Shadow Stone's true name is like the original user's personality,

Indifference

The original user is a psychopath that not only had the Hazakura drug but endured the torture of having the Black Shadow Stone grafted into them. The Black Shadow Stone is their original ability, it's the fact that they could ignore and adapt to it.

That's why, he could be so cold, unfeeling, and black, like the metal. How he could ignore all experimentation, just like a psychopath would to emotions, it even extended to pain, and even biological collapse.

If it weren't for an ability to literally destroy the cells, Indifference would have held on the user's biological makeup for anything. Thankfully the same ability allows him to recreate and regenerate his cells again.

I breathed. This is it, a cockroach like ability with a versatile use for attack and a big splash damage attack, covering for all my close combat fights.

I have both defense and attack. I just hope some long range attacks will come soon.
