Wheel of Actual Fortune

Chapter 3: Tumultuous First Class

'WHat?', I jolted awake as I heard a surprised shriek beside me. I feel so groggy, what happened?

"How did you appear??", A guy with soft features and blue nervous eyes stared right at me.

"Er, *cough* guess?", Immediately sobering I play it of naturally as I lean back on my chair, my eyes scan the room, not confronting him but rather getting a layout of the class.

He seems exasperated and just kept quiet, ending the conversation there.

It seems a lot have come in. I can see the trio, playing tag outside have made their space behind me but on the left near the exit of the class. They seem to have their priorities straight.

Another 2 figures here I recognize, A girl with rounded and green rimmed glasses and a guy with spiky orange hair.

I was able to identify the girl's hazel hair that was braided into one side, she is Mabel Flintstone. The guy with drooped orange eyes is Nagasawa Satoshi. They're important because they are the 2 targets of Singularis Corp alongside a senior.

They're practically topper and sit at the front. Wincy Willower...Willover? Yeah, sparkles is in front of me. She gave me an amused smile over what just happened. Not one to back down, I gave her a helpless grin.

I should start remembering their names more. It's unfortunate that only memorized the names of those whose going to suffer in the future arcs.

If there's one more who I remember then it would Little Hope's name, Sarah. Just like Alita and me, She is also one of the Runners.

Some of us decide to take on the last names of the planet we came from. Others even took under the name of Revenger and Runner, the former even becoming a group with a vendetta against the villains.

I pause... it seems like I am not so hopeless after all.

I thought the odds were stacked against me but...

The Revengers, Utopia, Belladona Academia, The Student Council, Class 1 - Alpha... I thought about whether student here referred to the academy as academia or not but like hell if I care, I'll use both.

I began writing more things as I felt energetic in my head, even when my body felt tired. I felt inspired like an author who stayed up late at night.

...Hot damn, there are many possibilities but best case scenario is a landslide... let's not talk about the worst case scenario.

This... I needed this, thank you Gacha System. I slumped a bit on my seat.

I also turned to the entrance of the class as I was swept by the atmosphere that my fellow classmates made. Everyone turned to look at out 2 new additions. By then, I realized why the quests popped out now.

The girl reading on a bench, the one I saw from the window, she had those red fiery eyes that could stir feelings inside of boys and a cold expression to balanced things out. Little Hope, Sarah. But we in the fandom called her the Villain Killer, a subversive play on words like the Hero Killer.

Once again, I still pity her, but she definitely won't accept that.

Next to her is a plain looking boy with dark brown hair and dull looking brown eyes. He was not too handsome and not too ugly, just above average looks, a perfect extra character.

Yeah, right? He's disguised as a student he tortured, killed, and took the identity of. He's ruthless and crazy and incredibly lucky too.

Like honestly, the stuff he speaks sometimes literally exposes him as a psychopath. Thankfully, as a reader, he doesn't expose anything about his identity as Dystopia.

And that makes things unfortunate to me, as a person in the story. Dystopian Descent, I will always have a love-hate relationship with you.

As if by fate, those two met up while walking to school. They'll soon become friends, and unfortunate enemies. Thankfully, Dystopia is unaware of the Little Hope he's meant to crush that slipped past his nose.

Thankfully, the most socially isolated person, Wincy is soon to be my friend. And I can work around hanging out with Protagonist and Antagonist as a group. Others can be done at their own time.

I glance at the time of the clock. I say to the guy beside me, "If you're actually curious why I appeared. I was just using my ability to disguise myself in plain sight."

Being surprised due to finally being answer, the guy beside me might think I'm kind of eccentric already, "I'm not interested anymore but why're you using your ability here? Won't you get in trouble for that?", I can tell he's a guy that doesn't care much about others at first glace, it could go both ways, either he doesn't really care or he does when it really matters.

"Psh, nothing happened yet, as long as I don't cause any actual trouble, the teacher might not catch me."

"Might? You don't sound so confident yourself.", Oh, he's a talker alright, but is he sharp one?

"What? Are you scared?", I give him the goofiest smile I could make, this line works best if I look like a laughable idiot.

"Of you getting your ass handed to you? Yeah, I'm totally scared.", I don't know if I should say I enabled him but he had the biggest eye roll alongside his bare sarcasm.

I hit the nail in the head.

Honestly, disregarding anything, he's going to be fun to banter with. So I gave my honest reaction by laughing.

I ended it with a "Yeah, right?", and moved on to finding ways to recover my energy levels.

Energy corresponding to abilities don't equate for stamina or some kind of mental capacity, it is it's own thing. Sadly, being drained of energy does give off phantom feelings of both physical and mental fatigue, horrible.

I look up to the front, huh, the teacher just passed through the class entrance while making phantom image. Yep, now I remember this description in the novel.

He's him, Skipper, the Agent Hero. One of the most confusing hero's because no one has discovered a sniff of what his abilities revolve around.

Some people think it revolves around speed, but that doesn't explain how he can pass through obstacles. Some say it revolves around ghosts because of how he can talk to the recently dead, but that doesn't explain how he can hack into electric communications and even have phone-to-mind telepathy...

The readers literally raged when he died to the Black Thorn Assassins, like bro, where can we find such a unique character ever again?

In other news, I'm also somewhat grateful that he's our teacher. He's highly competent and is well versed in not only academics but also in the strangeness of abilities.

I know it, somewhere in him is a chance to exploit our lessons for even greater growth in this class.

"Good morning class 1-Alpha, I'm Mr. Skipper, and you must address me as such for the duration of the 3 years of school you will be experiencing.", Mr. Skipper fires off with a stern demeanor, causing everyone to settle down immediately.

The Agent Hero is no joke, and the vibes he give makes it harder to mess around.

There is a certain saying I remembered among leaders, Start off strict and lay down the standards. Then you can ease it over later, or else they'll push every boundary.

Mr. Skipper nods at everyone before getting to the main topic of class schedules, representatives, and the opening ceremony.

I internally groaned, I'm going to have to sit for about 2 hours later afternoon listening to speeches? If I'm going to somewhere, I definitely have to sit with someone chatty enough to entertain me while being either foolish or daring enough to disregard the ceremony while it's happening.

I sweep my eyes around before landing on Sarah, I mean, she would be daring, in fact, I can still remember how the novel described her dying inside as the ceremony happened.

I look at Wincy, nah, she follows rules, even if I can get her to be chatty, she won't open up in a ceremony. I guess I'll find someone else later.

I would try the guy beside me but he wants me out of his hair, so it's best to pass.

"You guys can make your own representative yourselves. Be ready also for club day tomorrow, an extensive physical assessment on Friday morning, and an intensive ability assessment on the same-Friday afternoon."

I look thoughtful as things were being planned before me. In light of this, I'm not gonna mess with anything. I was just not intereste— wait being the class president might be a good idea...
