Wife, Let's Remarry

Chapter 16: Chapter 0015: No One Will Wait for Anyone in the Same Place

After dinner, Randy Ziel's face had softened considerably, and Nancy Scott was already smiling, apparently accepting Joseph Thompson as her new son-in-law.

Joseph Thompson accompanied Randy Ziel to the living room for a chat, while Jaylene accompanied her mother to wash the dishes in the kitchen area.

"Jaylene, have you really thought about it? Are you really planning to marry Joseph Thompson?" Nancy Scott asked her daughter, who was washing dishes, as she wiped the kitchen counter.

Jaylene thought to herself, I never planned on it. Isn't it because Auntie Bailey brought in Gabriel Lexio? I had no choice but to call Joseph Thompson, right?

Now that her career was almost settled, what could she say?

So, nodding her head, she replied: "Mhm."

"Alright, since you've made your decision, your father and I will respect your choice."

Nancy Scott looked at her daughter and sighed softly, "Originally, your father and I had hoped that you would end up with Alexander, but who knew that Alexander would have such high ambitions? Since he has already found a better path, we don't have to be with him at all costs.."

Jaylene just listened to her mother's words. She understood all these reasons, but sometimes it's easier said than done.

Meanwhile, in the living room, the conversation between Randy Ziel and Joseph Thompson was quite different.

"Who else is in your family?" Randy Ziel asked, looking at Joseph Thompson.

"My grandmother, my father, and my Aunt Susanna." Joseph Thompson introduced his family situation very naturally.

"What about your mother?" Randy Ziel asked with a slight frown.

"My Mum?" Joseph Thompson hesitated for a moment before saying lightly, "My Mum died of illness when I was very young. Aunt Susanna is my father's second wife, I suppose she's my stepmother."

"Is there... no objection from your family to your marriage with Jaylene?" Randy Ziel asked anxiously.

"No objection," Joseph Thompson answered confidently, "I called my grandmother before I came, and she was very happy to hear that I found a partner. She even wants to invite your family to dinner, so we can all meet and set a date for the wedding."

Jaylene, who happened to overhear this while serving fruit, immediately said, "Isn't it too fast to set a date so soon?"

"We'll discuss the date later. I think Joseph is right; it's correct for both parties' parents to meet first and settle things."

Nancy Scott chimed in, "Since you've proposed and everyone's willing, it doesn't matter whether you get married sooner or later."

Hearing Nancy Scott's words, Joseph Thompson immediately became as happy as if he had found treasure, hastily nodding his head like a pecking chicken: "Mhm, Mum, you're absolutely right. That's what my grandmother said, too."

"Let's eat fruit, let's eat fruit," Nancy Scott portioned out apple pieces with a toothpick, and the atmosphere lightened up.

As they ate the fruit, they discussed the parents' meeting for a while, roughly reached a consensus, and only then did Joseph Thompson take his leave to go home.

After Joseph Thompson left, Randy Ziel watched as Nancy Scott happily fiddled with the gifts he had brought and sighed lightly. He glanced at his daughter, wanting to say something, but seeing her lower her head like a child who had done something wrong, he ended up saying nothing.

Jaylene quickly helped tidy up the living room and then went back to her room. A short message came in on her mobile phone. Even without a name, just a string of familiar numbers, she knew it was from Alexander Preston.

Alexander Preston must have asked her to wait for him to become successful or something, but what right did he have to ask her to wait?

Without even looking at the short message, she directly chose to delete it. Since he had already made another choice, she could make another choice too, right?

In this society, no one waits for anyone!

When Joseph Thompson drove back to Pure Waterside Villa, it was already past 10 p.m.

Surprisingly, the Old Madam wasn't asleep yet; she was sitting on the living room sofa listening to the radio.

"Grandmother, why aren't you sleeping yet?" Joseph Thompson cautiously approached, sat down next to the old lady, and whispered, "Didn't I tell you that staying up late makes women age faster?"

"I'm already 75 years old, how much older can I get?"

Sophia Wilson glanced at her grandson, "I just heard that you're getting married and couldn't sleep because I'm so happy. I was afraid that you were lying to me over the phone."

Joseph Thompson couldn't help but smile and cry at the same time, "Grandmother, marriage is such a big deal; how could I lie to you?"

"Hmph, you never know," Sophia Wilson snorted, "I asked you to go on a blind date a while ago, and you refused. How come all of a sudden now you're willing to get married?"

Still puzzled, Sophia Wilson looked at him, "Really... getting married?"

"Of course, it's true," Joseph Thompson put his arm around his grandmother's shoulder and said, "Haven't you always wanted me to get married? Now I'm really going to marry a granddaughter-in-law for you, so you'd better treat her well."

"Go ahead, I'll definitely treat her well. I'm just worried that you won't treat her well," Sophia Wilson glanced at her grandson and asked, "By the way, this girl you're marrying, what's her name? Does she look... um, beautiful?"

Originally, Sophia Wilson wanted to ask if she was as beautiful as someone else, but she swallowed the words and simply asked if she was beautiful.

"Do you think your grandson would bring back a monster for you to become a granddaughter-in-law?" Joseph Thompson playfully glanced at Sophia Wilson, loosened his grip on her shoulder, and stood up to yawn.

"Don't worry, Grandmother. You'll surely like her after you see her tomorrow night." After saying this, Joseph Thompson turned toward the stairwell. As he reached the foot of the staircase, he reminded her, "Grandmother, go to sleep early."

"Mhm," Sophia Wilson replied, and when she saw her grandson go upstairs, she quickly asked, "By the way, for tomorrow night's parents' meeting, do you want your Aunt Susanna to go too?"

"No need," Joseph Thompson replied confidently, "Aunt Susanna isn't my parent, so what's the point of her going?"

Sophia Wilson froze at his words, and ultimately, she said nothing.

So long as her grandson obediently marries a granddaughter-in-law, she's completely satisfied, and she has no energy for other things.

Following the arrangement of the wedding, Jaylene didn't feel any better due to not having a job and not sleeping well. The next day she still woke up with panda eyes.

Her parents had gone to work, and she opened her laptop to search for jobs again. She didn't expect to have an email notification in her inbox.

She hurried to open it. It was a response to the resume she sent to Sincere Limited yesterday. The reply was polite and courteous, informing her to come to the company for an interview this afternoon.

Being invited for an interview meant there was a chance, no matter how small. Having a chance was better than having none, right?
