Chapter 17: Chapter 0016: Design Director Ricky Lewis
When Jaylene arrived at the entrance of Sincere Limited, there was already a large crowd waiting for the interview.
Looking at each of the professionally dressed colleagues, Jaylene felt a lack of confidence in her heart.
Sincere Limited's requirements for designers were originally high, and they specifically wanted people who have past works, something she cannot provide at the moment.
So, even before the interview arrived, she could already see the outcome.
Today, someone might be selected, but that person would definitely not be her.
At 3 p.m., the interview finally began, and a staffer from the Human Resources Department came out to distribute numbers to candidates.
"One by one, today our Design Director will interview you, so everyone must be well-prepared with their own information, and don't miss the opportunity."
After saying this, the staff from the Human Resources Department began to distribute numbers. Since Jaylene had already foreseen her own failure, she was not proactive and lined up at the back of the queue, naturally becoming the last candidate.
After distributing the numbers, the HR clerk led the twenty-odd candidates into a conference room within the company.
The conference room seemed to have not been used for a long time, as the office desks and chairs were covered with a layer of dust. Two female candidates took out tissues from their bags to wipe the chairs, and then reluctantly sat down.
As for the male candidates, they could only stare wide-eyed. Everyone was dressed to the nines, so naturally, they couldn't sit on these dust-covered chairs and stools without ruining their image.
Jaylene thought that since she wasn't going to pass the interview anyway, and knowing that the interview might take a while, she brought a water bucket from the restroom and cleaned the conference room, which was just a few square meters in size.
It took Jaylene about ten minutes to clean the tables and chairs in the conference room, after which she invited everyone to sit down and wait.
Although no one helped her during the cleaning process, they all thanked her when they sat down after she finished cleaning.
Just as she finished, the HR staff came to inform the first candidate that it was their turn to be interviewed.
The interview officially began, and everyone started getting nervous. After all, Sincere Limited was a famous construction company in Bay City, and their products were always known for their quality.
So, their hiring process was particularly stringent. It was said that the requirements for ordinary employees were extremely high, let alone the designers in the design department.
Soon, candidate No.1 completed their interview and returned, and the HR clerk came to inform the No.2 candidate to enter.
"How was it?"
"What did the main examiner say?"
"What were the questions asked?"
"Did you get accepted?"
...
Everyone asked a variety of questions to the candidate who just came out of the interview.
"They asked some basic questions that can be found in the materials, then told me to wait for their notice." The No.1 candidate replied before turning around and leaving.
Everyone exchanged puzzled looks. The famous Sincere Limited hiring process was actually this simple? It was completely different from what they had imagined.
Yes, just how famous was Sincere Limited? Everyone originally thought they would have to go through many difficult challenges, but the interview just ended with a notice to wait.
Soon, candidate No.2 also came out, and everyone immediately crowded around again, asking the same questions as before.
The answers from candidate No.2 were quite similar to those of No.1: just ordinary questions and instructions to wait for further notice.
..
As each candidate was called in one by one, the conference room went from being a lively discussion to a quieter atmosphere, until finally, Jaylene was the only one left.
She was the last candidate, and she didn't participate in the discussion with everyone else.
Because she was a newcomer, though she had worked at Clayton Group for two years, she had no works of her own to show for it. Yet, everyone who came here for the interview had more or less a piece of work to show off.
Actually, she didn't need to wait for the interview at all, but since she had come, it was hot outside, and most importantly, she didn't have any job search experience.
Going through an interview would be good, even if she wouldn't be selected (which was certain). But it could help her gain some experience and practice her courage for future interviews, she told herself.
"Number 28, Miss Ziel," the HR clerk called out with a professional smile, "It's your turn for the interview."
"Thank you!" Jaylene got up and followed the HR lady towards the interview room.
"Our Director Lewis is waiting for you inside." The HR clerk pointed to the closed door.
Jaylene nodded, walked up to the doorway, took a deep breath, straightened her professional attire, and made sure her outfit had no faults, before knocking on the door with her curved fingers.
"Come in!" A deep voice came from inside.
Jaylene was immediately stunned; she had heard that the Design Director of Sincere Limited was a designer in his fifties, but this voice didn't seem to match that description.
Jaylene opened the door and was greeted by a young man in his thirties, sporting short hair, a striped white shirt, wheat-colored skin, deep, dark eyes, a prominent nose, and sexy thin lips. His facial features blended handsomeness, maturity, and stability, exuding extraordinary masculine charm.
(Haha, our Male No.2 makes a grand entrance, right?)
"Hello, I am Jaylene Ziel, number 28, and I am here to apply for the designer position." Jaylene introduced herself with a hint of nervousness.
"Have a seat," Ricky Lewis pointed to the seat in front of him.
"Thank you," Jaylene said her thanks and sat down opposite Ricky Lewis' office desk.
Meanwhile, Ricky Lewis had already picked up her resume and looked it over with a smile. "From B University? Your teacher is Bella White?"
"Yes," Jaylene answered honestly and then lowered her head and said, "I've been too embarrassed to see Teacher White since I haven't had any works released in the two years since graduation."
Ricky Lewis chuckled at her remark, then proceeded to say in a serious tone, "Our company not only considers whether a candidate has a work portfolio but also looks at their character and responsiveness. We recruit creative designers, not designers who just sit there and wait for orders. We need people who can adapt on the spot, solve problems promptly, and not just wait for their supervisor's commands before knowing what to do."
Jaylene was confused by his words because she didn't quite understand what Ricky Lewis meant by saying all this, and she hadn't connected her act of cleaning the conference room to his mentioning of "on-the-spot adaptability."
In the end, Ricky Lewis asked her a few simple questions before smiling and saying, "Alright, today's interview is over. Go back and wait for further notice."
"Thank you!" Jaylene stood up and thanked Ricky Lewis before turning around and heading towards the exit.
She didn't ask when they would notify her, because she knew she wouldn't receive any notification. So, tomorrow, she would have to continue her job search.
