Chapter 5: Chapter 0004: I'm not the top performer
"So, you must take responsibility for me!" Joseph Thompson, ignoring Jaylene's silence, shamelessly spoke on.
"Isn't it just the first time? What's so great about it?"
Jaylene grinded her teeth with anger, "I'll treat it as if I engaged a male prostitute, I'll just pay you a fee and be done with it."
"Pay a fee?"
Joseph Thompson raised an eyebrow, "A person's first time is very precious, especially a man's first time. Do you think I would just hand that over for less than two or three million?"
"What? Two or three million?"
Jaylene stared wide-eyed at him, "Do you even know the market rates? Go ask at a nightclub, the best ones only charge ten to twenty thousand for night."
"I'm not a top-rated gigolo," Joseph Thompson shrugged, "I'm not a gigolo at all. My only first time was taken by you, even if someone offered me twenty or thirty million, it wouldn't be enough."
"You're extorting me!"
Jaylene, unable to bear his words, roared furiously. She then puffed out her chest, and with a heroic aura, shouted, "I have no money, but I have life!"
"Ha-ha-ha" Joseph Thompson laughed heartily at her behaviour.
Turning his head, he saw her red-faced with anger, her tender cheeks puffed up, looking like a ripe apple in the fall, her pouting lips as fresh and tender as peach blossoms in March. She was staring angrily, looking like a child, treated unfairly but unwilling to admit defeat.
After laughing, he spoke softly, "That's fine. I never intended to take your money. Isn't your life synonymous with your body? I don't mind if you repay me with your body."
"Are you dreaming?!"
Jaylene shouted furiously, glaring at the man in front of her, "Who said anything about repaying with the body? Fine, if this is about me hiring a gigolo for a night, then go ahead and rip me off once. No need for half a year's salary, I'll give you thirty thousand, will that do?"
"Thirty thousand? You didn't ask about my worth?"
Joseph Thompson scoffed at her words, "You just said 'I have no money, but I have life,' So, now, not to speak of thirty thousand, even three million won't be enough. I have decided to claim your life."
"How can you be like this?" Jaylene growled in helplessness, "How have I ever wronged you?"
"Didn't I tell you this morning?" Joseph Thompson dropped another shocking statement, "You slept with me last night."
Jaylene nearly choked on her anger and finally asked, "What exactly do you want?"
"Didn't I say it? You need to take responsibility for me." Joseph Thompson spoke casually.
"Are you a crab?" Jaylene stared at him with wide eyes.
"Heh," shrugged Joseph Thompson, calmly replying, "Crabs walk sideways, but I am actually a Little Red Riding Hood who was completely devoured by a female wolf last night."
"."
This time, Jaylene was completely flabbergasted!
She had seen shameless people, but none as shameless as Joseph Thompson.
People say that one's zodiac year brings bad luck, and it seemed like it was true for her!
She attended a wedding banquet only to discover her fiance's betrayal, went to a bar for the first time and ended up in bed with a man, and lost her virginity on the same day she was heartbroken!
The worst part was that the man who took her virginity was now pestering her, clamoring for her to take responsibility!
Was there no justice in the world?
"Miss Ziel, where do you live?"
Joseph Thompson, waiting for the traffic light at the crossroad, turned to the fuming woman and asked, "Should I continue straight or turn there?"
"Take a left turn," replied Jaylene, she suddenly turned to him, "Wait, how did you know my name?"
"What's so strange about that?" Joseph shrugged, calmly responding, "You told me last night, don't you remember?"
"I can't remember," Jaylene truthfully answered, she really couldn't remember anything.
"Not remembering is fine as long as you don't deny what happened," Joseph didn't mind her memory lapse.
Jaylene shot him a fierce glare and pointed to a residential area in front of them, "I live there. Just pull over. No need to drive into the residential area."
Live there? Joseph's gaze scanned the residential area on his right. It seemed new and it only started selling units last October. The first-phase homeowners had probably not moved in yet, right?
Was Jaylene lying to him? Did she think he was an idiot?
Knowing that she was lying, he didn't call her out. Instead, he politely pulled the car over.
"Here," Joseph took out a phone and handed it to her, "This is the phone you left at the hotel room this morning. We'll meet again. I'm still waiting for you to take responsibility."
Jaylene snatched her phone, glared at him fiercely, and without a word of thanks, she pushed open the car door, got out, and slammed it shut with a 'bang'.
Joseph watched as she strode towards the bus station, shaking his head softly before slowly driving back onto the main road.
As for Jaylene, since he had set his sights on her, she wouldn't be able to escape his grasp.
...
By the time Jaylene managed to return to her residential area after changing buses twice, it was already past eight o'clock at night.
Walking a hundred meters forward and turning the bend with the big tree would lead to the side entrance of the residential area.
This path was a bit dark since the street lamp was broken. At night, few people used the side door, so Jaylene quickened her pace.
However, just as she was about to reach the big tree, someone jumped out and grabbed her wrist.
"Ah!" Jaylene shouted in surprise. Without even getting a clear look at the person, she yelled, "Robbery!"
"Stop shouting," the stranger quickly covered Jaylene's mouth and said loudly, "It's me!"
Jaylene felt the voice sounded familiar. Looking up, sure enough, it was someone she knew - it was Alexander Preston, who had just married Raine Thompson last night!
Jaylene quickly broke free and stepped back, "Director Preston, you just got married yesterday, and here you are today, seeking out your ex. Does your new wife know?"
"Jaylene?" Alexander called her with a furrowed brow, and he seemed unaccustomed to her cold attitude.
"My name is Jaylene Ziel!" Jaylene corrected him with a stern face, "Only the people closest to me can call me Jaylene, and you are not!"
Alexander's face twisted in embarrassment. Seeing Jaylene's cold and distant attitude, he anxiously said, "I sent you on a business trip because I was afraid you would see what happened yesterday. You don't know, seeing you so distressed yesterday hurt me more than anyone else."
"Save your sweet talk for your newly wedded wife," Jaylene coldly cut him off.
