Will I Always Be Weak?

Chapter 2. My Sweet Little Sister, Angie

Angie, my precious little sister, was everything to me.
She was born 5 years younger than me; she was beautiful—her golden hair, blue eyes, and of course her amazing peach skin. She was an angel, my angel I devoted every second of my life to her. I wanted her to grow up to be a star, a real angel.

She was the nicest, sweetest, most wonderful thing. Mother and Father adored her, I felt like I was starting to be forgotten but that was ok as long as it was for Angie. Angie excelled in classes and when she was only seven, she surpassed me in almost everything. She was an athlete; she danced, sang, and aced the hardest of classes. When she sang, it was like the world around me had brightened; when she danced, it was like I was watching the majestic ocean. It was like she was truly an angel.

One day I was tasked with picking her up from school; not that I minded anyway. Seeing Angie was worth the kilometres of walking I had to do. My feet stung but as I turned the corner and saw Angie waiting there, my heart lifted and the pain subsided.

"Big sister!" She yelled

"Angie!" I yelled back, running and giving her a massive bear hug

"How was school?" I asked, already knowing the answer

"Hmph easy!" she puffed out her chest with a big smile on her face. She took out her bag and opened it. She put her hand in it and shuffled around until she found what she was looking for. A white piece of paper popped out as she excitedly showed it to me.

"Big sister, look!" She said in a proud voice, I took the paper and read the big fat grade on the front.

"A+!" I exclaimed excitedly.

"Good job, Angie!!" as I put the paper in her bag. I then grabbed Angie and lifted her.

"Who wants ice cream!?" I asked with a big smirk on my face.

" I Do, I do!" Angie said already starting to run off toward the store.

"Angie! Be careful, look both ways and wait for me!" I yelled at her while smiling, then jogged off to catch up to her.

Once I caught Angie, I scolded her for not being careful when she crossed the road, but I couldn't stay mad, so we started talking about all sorts of things while we walked to get ice cream. Her dance competition coming up, the new song she made and all her achievements in her sports and school. We also talked about myself and the chores I do at home and finally, we joked about father and mother because of how silly they are. We both loved our parents dearly but they are weirdos.

Once we were about a block away from the shop, Angie grabbed my hand and stopped. She looked at me and with the most sincere voice, she said, " Big sister, I love you." Those words made my heart throb with happiness.

"I love you too Angie" as I gave her another hug and kissed her on the cheek. After that, we walked the rest of the way to the ice cream shop. She ordered Vanilla and I got nothing. I hated vanilla but I always ate it when Angie offered it to me.

" That will be $2.19, please," said the nice ice cream lady. As I handed her the money, Angie shouted.

"Thank you, miss!" the lady smiled and handed sweet Angie the cone. After that, we began our walk home.

When we were about a block away from the store, Angie was licking the ice cream; she was so cute.

"I love you," I said under my breath. Angie looked at me and smiled as she shot her hand up and shoved the ice cream in my face.

"Angie!" I yelled as I was splattered with this terrible-tasting ice cream.

"Oops, I didn't mean to, I swear!" Angie said I believed her; Angie never lied to me.

"I'll go get some napkins," she said as she dashed across the street towards a small restaurant.

"Angie, be careful; look both ways!" I screamed, but it was too late.

Angie looked back at me with fear in her eyes and dread in her voice. "B-Big sis-" An out-of-control truck sped up and rammed into her, cutting her off. That truck took away my angle.

"Angie!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. As I ran over, my heart sank. Her blonde hair was bleached red with her blood, her beautiful body lay there crushed like a watermelon, her blue eyes drenched in tears, and the look of fear on her face sent shivers down my spine.

"Someone call 911; someone help her, please!" But I knew it was no use, Angie was gone, she had returned to the clouds where she belonged. I wept as people dragged me away; the sirens filled my ears. This was all my fault. I shouldn't have gone to get ice cream, I should have held on to her hand tighter, I should have been stricter, and I failed as a big sister.

"Young lady, are you okay?" I heard an officer say, I drowned him out I just wanted to be alone

"Jasmin, Jasmin, what happened, Where's Angie?" I heard my parents scream as they arrived. They yelled and screamed, but I didn't respond; the only thing I did was cry, My parents left and the memories of my sister flooded my mind. She was all I can think of. My sweet little sister...

"Angie I'm so sorry."
