Chapter 171: Hidden Scenario : Outbreak
I awoke from my pleasant, much-needed nap feeling fully refreshed.
I looked up to see Maria, her gentle smile welcoming me.
"Great Hunter, good morning."
"Morning. How many days has it been?" I asked, still stretching and enjoying the sensation.
"You've slept for five hours."
"I see. Thank you, Maria. I'll likely need you again next time."
"Very well. Have a good day." Maria vanished into glittering light as I sat up and looked around at the many Incarnations waiting for me to wake.
"V, finally, you're awake. Come," Selena said as she approached, her voice light and expectant.
"What is it?"
"Just come with us."
I stood and followed them, still stretching as I went. We walked toward a large gathering of people. Upon closer inspection, I saw they were from Winter Land—and they looked like a mix of Beastmen and anthropomorphic animal-like creatures. I already suspected they weren't purely beastly but rather humans transformed by some unknown, unseen catastrophe—similar to what I'd encountered before.
"You must be the one who slew the ice dragon and the yeti," one of them said, bowing deeply.
"Yes." The moment I admitted it, they all fell to their knees before me as if I were some kind of deity. It was nauseating. Their reverence felt forced, and I found myself shivering with disgust at their blind devotion.
I turned and began walking away from them without another word. Not because I sought recognition or heroism, nor because I wanted to save anyone or become the hero of this story. I didn't want to become a protagonist in someone else's narrative. I hated that, despised it. I was tired.
"V, where are you going?" Selena called after me.
I didn't answer. I preferred solitude, far from the masses.
"Return me back to Earth," I growled, glaring at Dokkaebi.
The Dokkaebi immediately went into panic mode, sending me back to Earth before anyone could stop me.
"V!" Anna called out, trying to catch me, but I was already gone.
Once back on Earth, I made my way to the Congress Library again.
[Constellations are confused why you dislike being treated like a god.]
"Satan, shut them up." I muttered to myself.
"Aiyo."
[Host bans audience from interacting with the Incarnations, due to Incarnation's request.]
The majority of constellations protested loudly, angry at the ban, but a few saw this as an opportunity to exploit my weakness. Being treated as a god? I wasn't going to deal with that nonsense anymore.
So now, the constellations could only watch without commenting or intervening.
I pulled out my own Pandora Box, opening it one by one.
First Box
I opened the first box and received a notification from the completed scenario:
< Main Scenario #6 – Frozen World >
Category: Main
Difficulty: SS
Clear Conditions: Challenge all First-Class Monsters, Powerful Inhabitants, and the strongest being in the planet called Winter Realm (Complete).
Time Limit: 7 Days (Completed in under 3 Days).
Reward: Frostmourne, Breath of Sindragosa, Sindragosa Fury, 89 Million Souls
Failure: Frozen Ice Skin Curse... Anomaly Detected... Due to user achievement of completing the scenario early, the curse turns into a Martial Art. Coin Toss.
[New Technique: Coin Toss]
This technique is part of the Heavenly Spear of God martial arts system. The technique involves the user flicking their spear into the air as if tossing a coin, catching it again in a different position or using it to execute an attack. Despite its simplicity, Coin Toss has multiple applications:
Disrupting an opponent's rhythm or timing. Creating openings for counterattacks. Changing the trajectory of strikes unpredictably, keeping opponents off-guard.
It could also act as a feint, tricking opponents into defensive stances prematurely.
I read through Breath of Sindragosa. It was similar to a WoW magic skill. However, it came with requirements—mainly the need for Dragon Crest or being a Dragonborn.
My heart had already harnessed the "source" of divine power, but I lacked the blood or magic pathways that dragon magic required. My Olympian Blood could channel god magic, but dragon magic would need dragon veins to manifest.
I considered combining this with the Elder Scrolls series, using their properties:
[Quick Extract The Game? Yes / No]
I pressed Yes.
"fyuh... no Hidden scenario." I muttered to myself.
Personal Attributes: Dragonborn (Myth)
Item: Gauldur Amulet, Ring of Bloodlust
Stigma: Imperial Luck Lv. 1, Lover's Comfort Lv. 1
Skill: Steal Lv. 1
I opened the second box and was immediately blinded for a brief moment, feeling a sharp pain in my back—as if my body were being torn apart.
[Hidden Main Scenario #3 – Round 2]
Category: Special Hidden Main
Difficulty: Fatalis Mode
Clear Conditions: Win against God, Elder, Zenith, Apex, and many stronger monsters pursuing you in Fatalis Mode. (Complete).
Rewards:
Fable Attributes: Calamity Slayer, Elder Dragon Slayer, Monster Slayer, Zenith Slayer, Great Hunter (Myth), End of the Giant Calamity (Giant), Dragon Tamer, Elder Dragon Tamer (Legendary)
Personal Attributes: Apex Hunter (Myth)
Skills: Monster Carving (Personal), Weapon Abilities (Exclusive)
Anomalies Detected: Due to the Fable Dragon God Red Lightning Gift, the fable has shifted into Poise and has granted Red Lightning Storm Affinity (Unknown).
8 Arachna Spider appendages Lv. 3 have evolved into 8 Hybrid Spider Frame Wings Lv. 1.
My body was surrounded by red lightning, a storm so dangerous it could hardly be compared to anything else. This lightning wasn't just an ordinary phenomenon—this was far more ancient, as if it were from the primordial world itself. To explain it in terms of power:
Zeus' lightning had a destructive capability of 500X.
Primordial lightning reached 1000X.
But this red lightning storm? It had a 5000X destructive power—five times stronger than primordial lightning.
The storm's strength was staggering, but the most terrifying part was that this red lightning was independent of the primordial lightning. While primordial lightning had no definitive form, this storm had a power all its own, uniquely terrifying.
I had predicted this moment: when the Primordial Essence vessel would form in the God of War, I would need to collect it. This would be a crucial step forward.
I opened the final box with anticipation.
[Additional Reward Upon Success (Complete)]
Fable:
Fatalis Hunter (Unknown), Forum of Fatalis (Giant), Equal Fight Equal Right (Legendary), Monster Forum Participant (Unknown)
Personal Attribute: Force of Nature Challenger (Unknown)
Skill: God Form (Transcendence), Human Monster (Transcendence)
Anomaly Detected:
Human Monster Transcendence Skill transformed into Personal Attribute, Buddies.God Form Transcendence Skill transformed into Deification Mode.
Item: Monster Hunter Badge (Unknown Grade Item)
I barely paid attention to the other rewards. The Buddies customization was my priority.
I focused all my attention on customizing my Buddies, and I decided to modify Kal'tsit, turning her into a version that would be more supportive and far less grumpy. She would be more useful, and most importantly, cuter.
[Felyne Kal'tsit]:
A bipedal cat capable of human speech, with support skills and many abilities you can teach her. She is your support companion on your journey, treat her well.
I took off my jacket and gave it to Kal'tsit. The jacket transformed into her usual daily clothes, though she lacked the Mon3tr (Monster) abilities from her original form.
Meanwhile, in Greater Ark, Kal'tsit watched her counterpart being treated with care and affection by me. The sight made her seethe with jealousy, annoyed beyond reason. She punched the air rapidly, trying to shake off her frustration.
Others observed her with confusion but continued to watch me, and then they all sighed as they plugged their ears.
"VALTOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!"
I took the opportunity to indulge in a wholesome moment with my newly customized Kal'tsit, giving her praise. "Who's a good cat, you are!"
She looked up at me with big, trusting eyes, and it filled me with pride to see her happy. However, I still needed to get her weapons. I checked the Monster Hunter Badge:
[Monster Hunter Badge]:
A special badge that marks you as a legendary hunter. This badge grants access to special items in the Monster Hunter World market. It also unlocks enchantments and crafting tables with new blueprints and codex available to you. The badge is permanent for the rest of your journey in this world.
I decided to shop using this badge, summoning a unique shop that appeared as a floating bookshelf filled with magical books and enchanted items. There was a small plaque above, marking the new items that had arrived.
I bought various monster armor and weapons for Kal'tsit, and I also sold off my collected weapons for extra money. Additionally, I purchased a Pouch:
[Bag of Holding]:
Capacity: Infinity
Weight: 0 pounds
Special Features: Item preservation, Magical restoration, Auto repair, Unbreakable
I used the crafting system to improve the pouch with materials I had gathered, upgrading it further.
Seeing this Divine Item was an outrage to many constellations. They couldn't help but be amazed at the sheer convenience it offered. Kal'tsit was overjoyed by the gift.
Meanwhile, in Greater Ark, the conversation took an interesting turn.
"Mael, do you know how to go to that world?"
"No clue. I have no idea how that bastard does it. The formula and equation are the things that make it impossible for us to follow him."
Just then, a scarlet-haired figure appeared, dressed in a luxurious outfit and holding a glass of wine. Everyone turned to face the newcomer.
"Who are you?" they asked.
"Satan," the figure said with a smirk.
"So, you want to exchange positions with him?" Before anyone could react, Kal'tsit's mouth was shut by Koshelna.
"No, don't be a fool. It's a devil's deal. Don't let your emotions blind you." Satan calmly observed the situation, his glass raised as he awaited the drama to unfold.
"What do you want in exchange?" Koshelna asked.
"Simple. Memory Reboot." Satan replied.
"What?" Kal'tsit's eyes widened in shock.
"Yes, your 14,500 years of memories related to him will be wiped clean. That's your precious possession, right?" Satan continued.
The weight of Satan's words hit Kal'tsit hard. Could she really sacrifice those memories, the ones that had been tormenting her for so long, just to be with me from the start? Was it worth it? She hesitated, torn between the promise of a fresh start and the precious memories she had.
"Cat, don't!" a voice called out, and Satan's tone grew serious.
"It's not worth it. Losing those 14,500 years of memories would be like betraying him. You should be grateful that he's chosen you, even if you aren't the original."
"Exactly, This is God's plan. You must be patient and accept what he's given you. The biggest surprise he has in store for you is you being here, as you are. Don't ruin that by acting out of emotion." Satan finished his wine, nodded, and vanished into the shadows.
"Thank you for spoiling Satan."
"No need to worry. I must return to entertain. The commercial break is over. See you around, loser." Satan's voice echoed as he left.
Back in my world, I went on a monster hunt with Kal'tsit, hunting many rampaging monsters to increase my skill. Still, I felt like I needed some manual assistance.
I took a rest, cooked for Kal'tsit, and called Maria for help. As I gave her the food, I worked on upgrading my Exclusive Skills and Personal Skills:
(E) Breath of Sindragosa Lv. 3, (E) Steal Lv. 3, (P) Monster Carving Lv. 10, (E) Weapon Abilities Lv. 3
Unfortunately, Stigma required specific materials to upgrade. Another quest awaited me.
I opened up a game—Virtua Cop—and took a trip down memory lane.
[Quick Extract the Game? Yes/No]
I pressed Yes.
[Personal Skill > Cop]
Just one skill? This game was lacking, but the nostalgia was enough to keep me entertained.
I knew it wasn't the right moment to focus on the side tasks. My mind shifted to the next big challenge, the next scenario that would push me further. I decided to explore a new Resident Evil series scenario, specifically one from before 2005—so, Resident Evil Outbreak.
[Hidden Scenario Detected... Creating... Complete]
Hidden Main Scenario #3 – Outbreak
Category: Special Hidden Main
Difficulty: Inferno Mode
Clear Conditions:
Return from Mansion Incident.Survive Outbreak in Raccoon City.
Difficulty Challenges:
Enemies are 4 times stronger, more aggressive, and persistent, affecting only the user.
Item and ammo spawns are significantly reduced.Higher enemy spawn rates.
Increased drop of Coins/Currency, fewer ammunition or rations.Boss AI is much smarter and adapts to the user's battle style.Bosses and mini-bosses will focus solely on the user.
A single bite means death; upon respawn, the user returns to the checkpoint, rewinding time to undo the mistake.
Checkpoints can only be used 7 times in specific locations, one per death. Once used, a checkpoint is permanently disabled.
Puzzles are easier to solve, but enemy spawns increase.
The user is stalked by an unstoppable stalker: defeating it will only cause it to rest, drop an item, and return later stronger, mutating to increase the difficulty.
Anomalies Detected... Creating Additional Scenario Challenges:
The user can only play as a villain character from the series.
Headshot kills must account for 70% of total kills to succeed (below that, rewards are void).
Collect Virus Samples from Umbrella (more samples collected = better rewards).
Defeat the Tyrant without weapons, using only hand-to-hand combat.
The user may carry a maximum of 3 weapons of their choice.
Anomalies Detected... Creating Special Personal Challenges:
Escape the Mansion.Survive the Outbreak.
The user may carry 7 Stigmas and 21 Skills only. The fewer items brought, the bigger the reward.
Time Limit: None
Reward:
Personal Attribute: Dual Wielding (Legendary)
Additional Reward Upon Success:
Item: Dependent on scenario success.
I had to plan my moves carefully. This challenge was intense, but I was determined to face it. I called upon the shop, and it appeared before me with a new selection of weapons.
Weapon Options:
Balrog IX: A pair of melee battle gauntlets developed by the Aegis Institute as part of the BALROG Series. The primary attack delivers a fast punch, while the secondary attack charges and delivers a massive explosive punch.
Infinity Laser Fist: A personal mini laser machine gun attached to the arms. Designed for firepower and mobility, it has an infinite energy source that allows for constant energy discharges.
M134 Vulcan: A modified M134 Minigun, fed with 300 rounds of 7.62 NATO ammo. It has a strong secondary fire mode using plasma ammunition that is deadly but limited by an overheat factor. It requires 20 minutes to cool down, but can be lifted for quick movement. (It can be modified.)
I grinned as I selected the M134 Vulcan. But I wasn't satisfied with just one. I needed dual firepower, so I crafted a second M134 Vulcan using the Crafting Table, enhancing both weapons for maximum damage.

[ Stigma and Skill Selection Complete]
[Transferring user to Scenario: Resident Evil 1]
Such a nice sound.
I was asleep, and my consciousness shifted to the character selection screen.
Villain here, obviously I chose Self-Proclaimed God: Albert Wesker.
January 1, 1998. Raccoon City Police Department. S.T.A.R.S Office.
I woke up, looking at myself with Wesker's face—still arrogant and annoying. I looked in the mirror and checked my clothing for any signs of change. My body had changed tremendously, likely due to Wesker's Virus mutation. This could be great.
"Captain." I heard Chris knocking outside my door. I quickly dressed and sat back down.
"You can come in."
Chris and the Alpha Team entered, and I looked at them.
"Captain, we received an order from the Chief of Police to conduct a weapons test."
I stood from my chair and replied, "Alright, I'll head to the shooting range."
"Roger!" they left, but I could hear whispers about changes in me. I ignored them—what mattered was finding my weapons.
I searched my room corner by corner and finally found them in a secret safe.
[Balrog IX]
Was it just Balrog? Laser Fist and Vulcan?
I checked the map and sighed in relief. Those two guns were in the armory or my locker.
I grabbed a few reports to study and improve my police skills.
[Cop Lv. 1 > Lv. 3]
Fast progress. I seemed to be a genius thanks to my intelligence. I had to read more reports, sign documents, and report findings.
I reached the training room with the reports in hand, reading and analyzing everything as I ignored the world around me.
"Captain... Captain... the Chief of Police is watching you." Jill whispered. I ignored her until I got scolded and punished by being forced to show the new recruits proper firearm use.
I handed the paper to Barry and approached the table. There weren't many weapons and ammo was limited.
I took a deep breath, focused, and displayed a proper gunfight demonstration. I showed proper posture, aiming positions, quick reloads, and performed battlefield simulations.
Headshots only. Every single shot was a headshot, even with a shotgun.
I returned to my group, took the paper again, and continued reading.
The reviews showed perfect headshot accuracy on long-range, moving targets, and short-range targets. Not a single bullet missed. It was an impressive record.
[Cop Lv. 3 > Lv. 7]
The team praised me, and several newbies saw me as their instructor. I declined the role, focusing on my research instead.
I pretended to leave and was called to Nest.
I met Birkin and Annette. After a long, winding journey, I decided to steal blueprints and gather virus samples for my personal use.
I successfully stole blueprints and collected samples from under Birkin's nose, despite him being unaware.
I left the Nest and ensured it would burn to the ground.
After collecting these samples, I needed one final thing: the Progenitor Virus.
I returned to the Raccoon Police and went about my daily routine, remaining discreet while gathering information on Umbrella's movements.
I studied the viruses and developed antivirus samples.
[T-Virus Complete Version, G-Virus Complete Version, Queen Leech Virus Complete Version]
"Time to do some drug experimentation." I injected all three viruses simultaneously.
I felt as if my body was consumed but felt no pain.
Briareus Vigor Lv. 5 > Lv. 7
Hecatonchires Muscle Lv. 5 > Lv. 7
Metamorphosis Lv. 3 > Lv. 5
My body was now stronger, but I knew that Nemesis Parasite and Progenitor would further enhance my Arche body and Unimind. I would need to test my body further.
I looked into the mirror and noticed how much taller, muscular, and vital I had become.
"Look at those muscles." I flexed, genuinely impressed with my gains.
I combined three viruses into a unique strain.
[Imperial Luck Stigma Active]
[T+G Queen Virus Complete: A unique virus that allows the user to adapt to any environment. One step away from achieving the Immortality Virus.]
"Immortality isn't total death immunity, just high regeneration and adaptability." I injected it and felt like I was on an LSD trip.
[Ultra Instinct Lv. 5 > Lv. 8]
Perfect. Now I only needed to visit the mansion.
Bravo Team departed, but I refused their orders.
"No, Alpha Team and Bravo Team will go."
"How dare you disobey orders?" The fat man had the audacity to be annoying. I decided to make him suffer.
"Your orders? You're just a fat man with a history of kidnapping women for your twisted sexual fantasies. I don't answer to someone like you." Brian raised his gun at me as I exposed him.
"HOW DARE YOU? YOU FORGET WHO I AM?"
"Oh, you mean the person responsible for numerous criminal activities and secret deals? Nice try." I exposed him in front of the Raccoon Police Headquarters.
"How about this?" I tossed him a badge—one only four people had.
Brian's eyes widened.
"Correct. Chief of Police Raccoon City, you are under arrest for numerous crimes. I'm Albert Wesker, a former General of the USA Green Berets. This badge grants me partial arrest authority. I could execute you here and now, and no one could save you—not even God. But I'll give you courtesy: after this mission, you'll no longer be Chief of Police. You'll be arrested by the U.S. government, and they'll arrive in 4 to 10 minutes."
A helicopter could be heard approaching. Imperial Luck was working its magic.
U.S. special forces landed and pointed their guns at Brian.
"Look at what we have here. Have fun in country jail, Officer. Spoiler: there's someone there who enjoys the same things you like—your victims."
Brian was arrested as I coordinated the special team to gather evidence across Raccoon City.
Umbrella had already prepared for this. I bribed Spencer by giving him the T-Virus Complete Version. His army and special teams arrived to mitigate this crisis.
"Captain, are you truly a Green Beret General?" I show my ID and my veteran card to Rebecca. They are indeed real and confirm my credentials.
"Alright, that's enough. We've arrived at the destination. Land us at these coordinates." The two helicopters land at the designated position, situated on a hill far from any zombies.
We disembark and gear up. I take my casket and equip the Infinity Laser Fist and Balrog. Fortunately, the Infinity Laser Fist is not visible thanks to Aetheris' nanotechnology.
We gather for a briefing, and I stand in front of 12 team members and 7 additional members from the RPD and the Central Government.
"Before we proceed, let us thank God for our safety. Amen."
"Amen." What the hell? They just tagged along for no reason. This is fun to troll them.
"Alright, I don't expect you to believe this easily. This mission isn't simple. Based on intel, we're not just facing humans but something entirely different. Do you believe in zombies?"
"Zombies? You mean from TV?"
"Yes, but this time, they are real. Remember this: One bite, and you are dead. No second chances. No mercy. You're either in or out. Quick question—who is the cause of these 'zombies'?"
"Simple. Right in front of you."
"Excuse me?"
"Let me show you." I grab one of the helicopters and toss it like a rock into the nearby forest.
"Superhuman experiments. Genetic superior humans produced by these experiments. I am one of thirteen individuals who survived this kind of experiment. My sister is somewhere far away, but she is far less powerful than me. I have undergone upgrades through extensive self-study."
"The Central Government sent me here to observe, stop these experiments, and erase any evidence before it leaks into public knowledge. Our task is simple: fight those responsible and erase evidence. But... zombies will make this far more complicated."
I pause, looking at everyone.
"You should know this: One bite leads to death. You can either fight to the last breath or take your own life. If you don't want to fight, return to Raccoon City and ask for reinforcements. However, beware of Zombie Dogs. They are faster, possess better tracking skills, and can easily hunt you down. Fortunately, this location gives us some advantage—wind patterns and the trees mask our scent."
Before I can finish, I sense something.
"We have company." A Licker suddenly lunges toward me with its tongue, grabbing my arm.
"Captain!" the team shouts, weapons drawn.
"NO! DON'T!" It's too late—their bullets fly. Dammit. I have to do something.
The Licker is down, and everyone looks at it with disgust.
"We're doomed. This place will soon be swarmed by zombies. We need to abandon this helicopter."
"Yes, Captain."
"Because our actions have already triggered these events, remember three rules:
If they don't speak human language, kill on sight. Aim for their head to stagger them or their weak points if they show abnormal features.Conserve ammunition. Every bullet counts unless absolutely necessary. If you're surrounded, use grenades or flashbangs to escape and reposition.
One last thing: Zombies are weak against blunt force. You can push or tackle them, but if you encounter the Licker type, use explosives and bullets instead."
I draw my Infinity Laser Fist, ready for combat.
I unleash explosions using Balrog, drawing zombies toward me as I fight.
After the battle, I collect many types of ammunition—everything from handgun rounds to sniper ammo.
[+ 8,130,000 Soul obtained. Ammo obtained: 870x]
I return to the group and meet Rebecca's partner, Billy and his team.
"Captain, you're back."
"This easy prey. So you must be Billy Coen, former 2nd Lieutenant of the Marines. Here is your pardon from the government." I toss him a government pardon.
"You have two options, boy: either rejoin the military or live free. All you need to do is give me your dog tag, and you can forge a new life in a nearby city."
"Sir, yes, sir!" Billy hands me his dog tag.
"Good. I'll need your services this time." I glance at the horizon and click my teeth together.
"Another company is approaching. These pests never end. Want to join the fun?" I ready my Infinity Laser Fist, which glows ominously.
"Ready on your command, sir."
"Good. Don't hold back." We fight together as a team. Every bullet must count, while I unleash bursts of destruction with the Infinity Laser Fist, giving us the tactical edge.
After the fight, I distribute ammunition to the team for resupply.
[+ 6,130,000 Soul obtained. Ammo obtained: 4870x]
"Captain, where did you find this?"
"I scavenged nearby military vehicles. Survival is about resourcefulness. Let's move." We make our way toward the train while encountering leeches. I burn them with Balrog's full might.
We solve a few puzzles on the train but are derailed after machine malfunctions. I don't care much.
"Everyone okay?"
"Yes, a little shaken but fine, Captain."
"Good. I'll search for rations."
"I believe we have rations here, Captain." I glance at the miserable supplies and shake my head.
"Fair enough. I'll hunt my own food, then." I dash into the nearby forest and return with deer and rabbit. I expertly butcher and prepare them, better than even a five-star chef. I use Balrog's ignition to improvise a fire and cook the meal.
"Why settle for cheap military rations when you have five-star hotel food in front of you?" I hand skewers to everyone, and their stomachs growl as they devour them.
I use the bones and other remains for traps, knowing they'll come in handy.
We press on through the wilderness, eventually arriving at areas reminiscent of Resident Evil 0. We encounter Marcus, who is hiding behind a videotape—my stalker.
"Welcome," he begins.
I yawn. I'm growing bored as his villain speech drags on.
"You will perish with my Tyrant." A Tyrant appears. I grin.
"You need five Tyrants to even try to defeat me, lady boy." I stretch my body, getting ready.
"No need to waste bullets. I'll handle that monster." I dash toward the Tyrant, tackling it into submission. I grab its arm and rip it off, then tear its head off in a brutal display, tossing it aside and giving Marcus the middle finger.
"Out of my way, Tyrant."
The screen flickers and dies. I chuckle.
"What a miserable person." I use the Tyrant's severed hand as an improvised weapon.
"Thank you for the weapon, failed experiment. Let's move."
We explore the facility, finding evidence of contamination in the water supply by the virus.
"Captain..."
"It's too late. Everyone has already been exposed. Most of Raccoon City is infected. Even the sewer rats have ingested it. A massive outbreak is imminent. We'll split the teams. The remaining group will explore the nearby mansion for a possible cure. Those returning will warn the city of the threat. The mayor is corrupt—don't waste time trying to reason with him. Warn his daughter; she will know how to act."
I gaze out at the spreading chaos.
"The defense mechanisms have activated. Things are about to get worse."
We sprinted for our lives as a horde of zombies spilled from the dark recesses of the facility. The air was putrid with the scent of rotting flesh, and the sound of groans and screeches filled the corridors. Marcus was hot on my heels, his monstrous form undeterred by my efforts to slow him down.
"GO NOW, ESCAPE!" I bellowed as we ran through the maze of tunnels leading toward the exit. The zombies closed the distance, their clawed hands reaching for us.
"CAPTAIN!"
I turned to see the team hesitating. Rebecca, Billy, and others were struggling to fend off the advancing zombies. My voice rang out again.
"ABANDON ME! GO TO THE MANSION AND RACCOON CITY—MILLIONS OF PEOPLE NEED YOU! GO, GO!"
The team hesitated for a split second before they fled toward the mansion and the paths leading back to Raccoon City. I stayed behind, the adrenaline surging as Marcus and his monstrous presence closed in.
"You ruin everything! You are the one that killed me!" Marcus hissed, his voice strained and venomous.
"I don't care," I growled.
I summoned my energy blade, the humming glow illuminating the sewers' damp, dark walls. I lashed at Marcus with precision, slicing at him with controlled fury. His body roiled as I cut, but the blade failed to feed my energy. Something was very, very wrong with the Energy Blade.
The blade's power sputtered instead of growing stronger. I frowned. My focus wavered.
"Something's wrong," I muttered to myself.
I plunged the blade again, this time focusing harder. The energy still felt sluggish. I noted this was likely some kind of interference—perhaps something about Marcus' biology or the leech connections.
"Raccoon City will fall... and you will be—" Marcus began, his voice breaking with the strain as he attempted to lunge at me again.
Before he could finish, I planted my foot firmly against his leech-infested head and smashed it into the ground. The sickening squelch rang out as his body gave under my strength. I wasted no time, carving through his body with precise, calculated strikes.
"Enough of this."
I looked down at his torn, lifeless corpse and stomped down hard on the final remnants of his mutated leech with my boot.
[Queen Leech Alpha Obtained]
The grotesque remains shimmered faintly as they dissolved into a semi-biological goo. I snatched it up, knowing this would provide answers later.
I sprinted from the collapsing lab as explosions erupted behind me. The fire roared and ash rained down from above as I ran out of the range of the blast radius.
I returned to the group just as they were regrouping. Bravo Team had retreated, while Alpha Team stayed behind with two RPD officers and one from the Central Government. Rebecca and Billy had remained with them.
"Captain!" Rebecca shouted as she approached. I was smeared in leech goo and covered in dirt.
I wiped my face with my hand, trying to clean off the filth as best as I could.
"That lady boy was tough but weak," I muttered, my voice hoarse from the exertion. "Let's move. The mansion awaits. It will become a nightmare."
We trudged forward toward our destination—the mansion. It loomed ominously in the distance, its windows dark and menacing.
Inside the mansion, we found the air heavy and cold. The sound of chains dragging against stone echoed through the dimly lit halls. The damp stone corridors felt alive with hidden movement, with every sound amplifying our fears.
We reached a series of prison-like cells when the sound hit us.
"MOOOOTHHHEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" A blood-curdling scream came from the dark end of the corridor. It was raw, guttural, and full of anguish.
