Chapter 5: Chapter 5: First Bounty

Me and Yuma started to make our way towards the Grand Line in our new ship. Though we did encounter some problems along the way.

"You know this trip is going to be 20 times longer than it needs to be if we don't have a real navigator. You're terrible with directions." Yuma said.

"At least I'm not as bad as Zoro." I thought.

"And it'd be nice to have a nice cooked meal instead of canned mackerel everyday."

"I like mackerel."

"Basically we're not going to be able to make this trip by ourselves. We need to get some more crew members."

"Yeah, you're right. But it's not exactly like there's people lining up to be a pirate. It'll probably be tough to find people who want to join." As I finished speaking a seagull dropped a newspaper on my face. "Ah! What the? Oh it's Newscoo."

"Hey toss that here." I then threw the paper up to Yuma, this was still a year before the start of the One Piece story that I knew. So I figured there wouldn't be any news that'd really interest me.

"Whoa! Awesome. Gai check this out." Yuma had come to shorten my name for Gaileo to Gai. I didn't mind because it was a made up name to begin with. "It's you! You got your first bounty!" He said as he brandished a wanted poster with my face on it.

"Whoa that's cool! Let me see! How much is it?" I was curious how much it would be. Luffy's first bounty was 30 million, but that was pretty unheard of and I don't think I'd done enough to earn a bounty that high. I was still hopeful that it'd be over 10 million though.

The poster read: Wanted Dead or Alive "Beast Sword" Buster Gaileo, 20,000,000.

"Whoa! 20 million that's not a bad start. But "Beast Sword"? I was kinda hoping I'd get a cooler pirate name."

"Hey I think it's a pretty cool name. It could be worse at least. Plus it makes sense you have two swords that can turn into beasts. That's a pretty unique ability by the way. Where did you get those swords?"

"Oh uh, I dunno. I just found em somewhere." I said as I changed the subject. It'd probably be troublesome to explain that I'm from a different world and got a bunch of abilities from different anime, so I'll try to avoid that if I can.

"Anyway, pirate crews usually take the name of their captain. So I guess that'd make us the Beast Sword Pirates. That good with you Yuma?" I asked.

"Yeah I don't care what people call us anyway. I wonder when I'll get a bounty."

Yuma and I continued along our journey, looking for potential crew members along the way but not having any luck.

"Man, we couldn't find any decent crew members on that island either. We really need a bigger crew. I don't think we should try to enter the Grand Line until we find at least three more members, and one of them has to be a navigator." Yuma said to me.

"Yeah I agree." I replied.

"So what does the map say is up ahead?"

"Um, I dunno. This part kinda small and on the edge of the map, it's hard to tell."

"Oh okay. Wait! You said we're around the edge of the map?"

"Yeah so?"

"That's a map of the entire West Blue! If we're going off the edge it that means we're about to enter the Grand Line!" Yuma said panicked.

"Oh cool." I said nonchalantly.

"It's not cool! We just talked about how we weren't ready to go there yet!"

"So? Can't we just turn around?"

"No it's too late for that. The current is too strong and these waters are filled with jagged rocks and shallow reefs. If we try to do anything other than ride the current our ship is going to get torn apart!"

"Well there's no point dwelling on the past or pointing fingers. We'll just have to keep marching forward."

"Don't say it like it's someone else's problem! And there's no pointing fingers! It was clearly your fault!" Despite throwing a hissy fit, Yuma brilliantly navigated the treacherous stretch of water that we were stuck on and I was reminded of how lucky I was to stumble across a talented guy like this.

After tense struggle through the strait we ended up back on the open sea. But this wasn't just any sea. We were now on the Grand Line.

"Wow, so this is the Grand Line? Awesome!" I said as I scanned the waters in front of me.

"It's not cool! We're totally screwed! Two guys can't make it by themselves on the Grand Line! Plus we don't have a Log Pose! It's impossible to navigate the Grand Line without one!" As Yuma was blowing a gasket a large pirate ship was approaching us.

"Haha! I love the smell of new rookies to crush. You guys are going to regret coming to the Grand Line after meeting me." A pirate captain called down to us from his ship. "You two tell the rest of your crew to come out here! And have em bring all your valuables while you're at it."

"Do you think he would laugh at us if I tell him this is our whole crew." I whispered to Yuma who wasn't in the mood for jokes I guess. Just then I got a really good idea. This was actually a great stroke of luck!

"Hey you guys definitely have a Log Pose on your ship right?" I called back up to them.

"What? Of course, what kind of fool would come to the Grand Line without a Log Pose?" The pirate captain called back to me. For some reason I felt like Yuma was giving me a dirty look when he was saying that.

"Well that's perfect, see Yuma our luck is turning around we just found a Log Pose we can use." I said with a smile. Yuma shot a grin on his face as he figured out where I was going with this.

"Hehe, you're a crazy one, Captain." He said.

"Then you must be just as crazy to follow me, Vice Captain."

"Bankai! Hihio Zabimaru!!!!"

Me and Yuma went on to trash those small fry pirates and I used Zabimaru to sink their ship. After we grabbed their Log Pose of course.

"See, things always turn out alright in the end. You don't need to worry so much Yuma."

"Yeah we just got lucky this time. We're still in desperate need of crew members."

"Yeah you're right. But I got a good feeling that we'll find a new crew mate on the next island. Now let's see where the Log Pose is pointing us to first."
