Delayed Transfer

They left the tiny quaint village where Nicholas the toymaker lived early the next day. Something happened the night before though. Nicholas visited Mark and requested to join his retinue.

According to the toymaker, he was inspired by the movie that he had seen that afternoon and since the twins waxed eloquent about the Star Wars movies, he wanted to join the circus so he would have the chance to see all of the movies. According to Nicholas, he planned to create toys based on the movies and he would then open a stall to sell his toys.

Before the toymaker could continue persuading Mark on the idea of him joining, Nicholas’s family arrived. The parents of Mark, Nicholas’s grandson argued with the toymaker that he was too old to join the circus and that more than likely, the circus would never return to their town again.

That meant that if Nicholas wanted to return home, he would need to do so by himself and since he was old, the journey would be highly difficult.

Nicholas’s daughter was able to persuade the toymaker to stay by announcing to the old man that she was pregnant and not only that, his grandson Mark, would soon marry his fiancé, and that meant great grandkids for the old man.

The toymaker went with his family sadly and he kept looking back at the shiny circus as if his dreams were leaving him while Mark and the kids waved goodbye to Nicholas.

Mark didn’t know if Nicholas’s daughter was telling the truth about everything that she said but it was their family’s business.

Nedertu would be driving their RV while Connor and Milena would be driving the second RV. At the same time, They would also be teaching Milena’s assistants how to drive so more people would know how to.

It wasn’t an issue for Connor to teach anyone while they were traveling since the circus movement was really slow.

Mark also decided not to dive into the dungeon that day because when he told everyone that he would be leaving for the day, Liriel threw a tantrum and then asked Mark to hold her. After that, she wasn’t letting go.

That meant that Liriel could understand their worlds and for now, she was adamant about not letting Mark out of her sight.

Rendira arrived to tutor the twins and Mark told her that she didn’t need to that day since she could be busy with helping her family with the start of the journey.

“They would be able to handle it without any problem and honestly, I wanted to get away from them for a few hours and it’s very comfortable here in your carriage,” Rendira told Mark.

So Rendira started the tutoring session. Mark and Liriel joined the lessons with them coloring some picture books, assembling Legos, and more. Rendira had to tell Mark and Liriel to go somewhere else though since they were distracting the twins.

During lunchtime, everyone ate some hamburgers, fries, and soda then they watched Naruto. After a while, the kids got sleepy so they all took naps, even Mark.

When they woke up, Mark talked to the twins about the things that they could and could not share with outsiders but the most important part was for them not to boast about their treasures to outside folks since that could invoke greed that could lead to violence.

Mark thought that the twins seemed to understand what they talked about so as a reward, he filled their storage rings with a lot of food and snacks again but reiterated that they could only eat those during emergencies. He did took the Wand of Ice Bolt and Necklace of Fire Bolt from the twins to avoid accidents.

The circus stopped when the sun was about to set so they all went outside to check the campsite. The caravan set up the campsite beside the road and after a few more walks, they could enter a lush forest. Since it was in the middle of summer, the forest was vibrant with greeneries and sounds of small animals.

The twins ran off to find their friends while Mark walked towards the forest while carrying Liriel. It was still a bit bright since it was twilight and Mark wanted to check what he could see in the forest.

Liriel kept pointing at the small animals she saw and Mark taught the little girl the name of the animals. Liriel’s guardian wisp was floating above her head and Mark thought that that could be why insects were not approaching them.

Mark was startled when suddenly the forest went dark as if the light was switched off and he remembered that it happened like that inside a forest. The guardian wisp brightened and served as Mark and Liriel’s light.

Suddenly they saw three goblins when they were about to return to the circus. Liriel got frightened and hugged Mark’s neck but the guardian wisp suddenly flew toward the goblins and attacked the monsters using Mage Bolt. The goblins were killed with just one hit from the wisp’s spell and after that, it returned to them and served as their light again.

“See Liriel, you don’t need to worry. The wisp will protect you.”

Liriel giggled when Mark said that to her and she replied by uttering his name.

When they arrived in the RV, Milena was serving the food so after a while they had dinner.

“Where did you go?” Isaac asked Mark.

“Liriel and I went to the forest earlier when it was a bit bright to check it out. We saw a lot of small animals like squirrels and we even saw a baby deer and it was so cute! The forest suddenly became dark though but Liriel’s wisp served as our light,” Mark replied.

Liriel then shouted Mark’s name as if saying he was not telling everything.

“Oh yeah, Liriel wanted to let you know that we also encountered three goblins but her wisp killed them immediately using a spell.”

Liriel then nodded as if she now agreed with what Mark was saying and the twins laughed at Liriel’s expressions.

After dinner, everyone was still energetic so Mark and the kids went to Yoda to visit the dragon which was lying down beside the circus. They climbed Yoda’s back and Mark asked the dragon to fly above in the night sky so they could appreciate the stars.

At first, the twins kept talking about what happened while they were playing with their friends but soon, due to how comfortable the seats were and Yoda’s slow flying, the kids were asleep. He commanded Yoda to fly down slowly and when they were on the ground, Mark lifted the children using Telekinesis so they would not wake up and he tucked them in on their beds.

Surprisingly, the children didn’t wake up while he was bringing them to their beds. Mark was happy to see that the twins and Liriel had smiles on their faces while they were sleeping and he felt gratified that he had provided a happy home for them.

Milena, Nedertu, and the others were already in their RV, and from what Mark could see and hear, they were having a party inside. Mark decided to just go to his bedroom to do some reading them after that he slept.
