Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Dimensional Guild
(Hello, World - Bump of Chicken - playing in the background~)
After formally introducing themselves, Elysia and Rozen left the area together. As Rozen followed her, he soon noticed a helicopter descending toward them.
When the helicopter landed, its door opened to reveal a burly man with blue hair. From his appearance, he seemed to be a combat personnel member of the Flame Chasers.
"Captain Elysia!" the man saluted, and Elysia returned the gesture with a salute of her own.
"The target has been successfully eliminated, and the surrounding monsters have been dealt with. I recommend deploying additional combat personnel to handle any that may have slipped through," Elysia reported, her expression serious.
It appeared that the personnel who had arrived had not yet received Elysia's prior report—likely because her communication had been directed solely to the organization's higher-ups. Because of this, Elysia began re-briefing the man on the current situation.
As she continued her explanation, Elysia suddenly remembered Rozen and brought up how his assistance had been crucial in defeating the Herrscher.
"What?! Are you serious, Captain?" the man asked, disbelief evident in his tone. He had assumed Rozen was just an unlucky young man who had been saved by Elysia during her crusade against the Herrscher.
But now, Elysia was telling him that this thin and ordinary-looking man was the one who had killed the Herrscher? It was almost impossible for him to believe.
"I'm completely serious!~ Or~ could it be that Ato is doubting his cute and beautiful Captain?~ Oh~ I'm so hurt!" Elysia said, pretending to cry.
Seeing her mock tears, the two men present felt a pang of guilt and sadness at the sight of her beautiful face appearing to cry.
Ato? Griseo's father? I didn't expect to meet another character from the story so soon after encountering Elysia
Rozen thought to himself, studying Ato with interest. His youthful appearance, likely in his twenties, led Rozen to assume that Ato hadn't yet met Blanca.
"N-No! Captain! I'm not doubting you, it's just… I'm concerned that the other members, especially the higher-ups, might not believe it," Ato hurriedly explained. He clearly had no immunity to Elysia's sad expression.
"Don't worry~ I've already reported the situation to the higher-ups~ They believe me and are very interested in inviting Rozen to join our organization~" Elysia said, her expression shifting into a radiant smile. Both men were left speechless by how quickly she had changed her demeanor.
It's a Woman After All!
Both men shook their heads simultaneously, as if in sync. This action left Elysia confused and wondering what these two were thinking.
"Ah?~ What are you two thinking about?~" Elysia asked curiously. However, the pair simply shook their heads again and replied, "It's nothing."
"??? Hmph!~ But my instincts tell me you two are thinking bad things about me!~" Elysia pouted, crossing her arms, which unintentionally pushed her 'mountains' forward.
Rozen and Ato immediately exchanged glances, both shuddering at the same time.
Women's intuition is terrifying!
Seeing that neither of them was willing to speak, Elysia sighed in defeat and walked into the helicopter.
"Hey, young man, I'm Ato. Looking forward to working with you. Feel free to ask me anything since we'll be comrades soon," Ato said, extending his hand with a smile.
Rozen quickly grasped it, replying, "Likewise, Ato-senpai. My name is Rozen Itsuki."
The two shook hands firmly before parting ways. Rozen climbed into the helicopter while Ato stayed behind to handle matters at the site.
The helicopter began its ascent, leaving the devastated site behind. Inside, Rozen glanced out the window, observing the scene below.
With his superhuman vision, he could see the destruction in vivid detail—collapsed buildings, wrecked vehicles, and streets littered with blood and lifeless bodies. Countless lives had been lost, either to the Honkai Beast attack or crushed under falling debris.
Witnessing such devastation, Rozen clenched his fists tightly, his teeth grinding in frustration and indignation.
He knew these victims were strangers to him—people he had never met and had no connection to. This wasn't even his universe, so saving them wasn't technically his responsibility.
Despite that, he felt a deep sense of unwillingness. Whenever he encountered someone in need, he wanted to help them. Moreover, he had been given great power, and as one of his favorite comic book heroes character once said, "With great power comes great responsibility."
I'm still weak!!! Damn it! I can't save everyone!
[...]
Unconsciously, his clenched fists tightened to the point where his nails dug into his palms, causing blood to seep out.
Then, a soft, gentle touch rested on his shoulder, startling him. Rozen turned his head to see Elysia beside him, smiling warmly and looking at him with compassion.
"It's okay~ Don't feel so guilty~ This isn't your fault~ After all, even a hero can't save everyone~ Don't put such a heavy burden on yourself~" Elysia said softly.
Hearing her comforting words, Rozen felt a wave of relief wash over him, easing the weight that had been crushing his heart.
A smile appeared on Rozen's face as he responded, "Thank you, Elysia. You're right. I can't save everyone—I'm not a god, after all." He chuckled softly.
"From now on, I won't burden myself with the impossible goal of saving everyone. Instead, I'll do my best to save as many as I can." Hearing this, Elysia felt a wave of relief wash over her. At last, she had managed to enlighten this young man with his intense hero complex.
Though individuals with a hero complex like Rozen's could be a blessing in a world riddled with tragedy, Elysia knew deep down that such heroes often faced tragic and lonely endings. She couldn't bear the thought of Rozen meeting such a fate, so she resolved to guide him away from that path.
In Elysia's mind, a brilliant young man like Rozen deserved to smile and be happy in the future. Such joy would be the reward and karmic return for the virtuous deeds he had done as a hero.
The journey continued in silence, neither of them speaking. A few minutes later, the helicopter began its descent, finally arriving at their destination.
As the helicopter touched down, both of them stepped out, greeted by the sight of a crowd already waiting for them. Judging by their composed demeanor, they were most likely the higher-ups of the organization.
"Welcome..."
Time skipped to two hours later. Rozen, having now been introduced to the organization, was lying on the bed in his dorm room, staring blankly at the ceiling.
"Finally, I can properly rest," he muttered, letting out a relieved sigh.
"But... I've actually joined the Flame Chasers now? This still feels so unreal," he said, lifting his hand in front of his face and gazing at it thoughtfully.
I thought it would take a long time before I could join the Flame Chasers, but who would have guessed I'd be accepted on the very first day in this world?
But to think a Herrscher would descend on my very first day here... I don't know if I should be grateful or not, considering it was because of that event that I was able to join the Flame Chasers so quickly.
Rozen closed his eyes, trying to calm his mind as he recalled everything that had happened earlier—especially the Herrscher and Clark's tragic death.
That memory brought a wave of sadness over him once more, reminding him how terrifying the world of Honkai truly was in reality. He could clearly feel the overwhelming despair looming over the future of this world.
Knowing that the current civilization would eventually face destruction under the relentless assault of future Herrschers, he felt a growing sense of urgency. He needed to grow stronger—much stronger—before even more powerful Herrschers descended upon Earth.
With that thought, he resolved to reduce as much causality as possible. With his mind at ease, Rozen closed his eyes, deciding to rest. Soon, his consciousness drifted into slumber.
But in the next moment, his eyes snapped open wide, and he found himself in an unknown room.
"What the... Where am I right now? Is this a dream or something?" he muttered in confusion while inspecting his surroundings.
It was a grand and luxurious room, spacious and adorned with beautiful furniture. Chandeliers, which looked extraordinarily expensive, hung from the ceiling—more than one, in fact.
As he took in the details of this extravagant building, the word "guild" inexplicably popped into his mind. This sudden realization made him incredibly suspicious, as the inspiration seemed to come from nowhere.
[Notice. A sudden unknown change occurred to the master's body and soul while sleeping. Master's existence has been transported here.]
"Ah? Great Sage! You're here too, I see!" Rozen exclaimed in relief. "So this is an unknown realm, huh? But it also transported my body here. This realm seems highly unusual," he continued, his expression cautious.
"Can you detect where this realm is located?"
[Answer. Based on the absence of Honkai energy or any other familiar energy signatures, it can be deduced that this realm exists outside of the Honkai Universe. However, further information is required to confirm this deduction.]
"What?! A dimension outside the Honkai Universe?!" Rozen was utterly shocked and filled with disbelief. After all, he now stood in a realm inaccessible to human civilization.
"Wait! If that's the case, how do I get out of this realm?!" Rozen asked in a panic. Fortunately, Great Sage was quick to provide an answer.
[Answer. Master can access space and time abilities to leave this realm next month.]
Oh right! How could I forget that?! Rozen thought, immediately slapping his own face in realization. But now, at least, he could calm down about his current predicament.
As for how he would survive here without food or water for a month? Well, that problem could easily be solved by his cheat. After all, his cheat abilities were practically almighty.
Now, what I need to focus on is uncovering more about this unknown realm and the reason I was teleported here without warning.
Rozen thought, shifting his priorities to investigate his surroundings.
At the same time Rozen was deep in thought, an unfamiliar voice suddenly echoed in his mind. Unlike Great Sage, this voice was even more robotic and devoid of emotion.
[Ding! New Host detected! Initiating activation and binding of Dimensional Guild to the current host! 0%... 25%... 69%... 100%.]
"Eh?" Rozen tilted his head in confusion as a transparent sci-fi window appeared in his vision.
