Fated to My Enemy

Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Moving to a New Home

Jian Wanrong was a clever person and quickly understood Yan Ye's intentions.

"Although that girl has a bit of a temper, she's still quite attractive and has the makings of a beauty. Mr. Yan, if you have any orders, just tell me."

At the funeral home, Lian Jie's body was placed inside.

Lian Xinying wiped away her tears with one hand but couldn't stop the ache in her heart.

"Yingying, once your dad is cremated, you should go back with grandpa. Even though your dad is gone now, he has left a tarnished reputation. It won't be easy for you to stay here."

Lian Xinying's grandfather rushed over upon hearing the news and roughly understood the situation. Although he didn't believe his son would commit suicide out of fear, he also had no power to search for evidence to clear his name.

"I'm not going with you. I'm staying here. My dad was framed; he wouldn't do anything bad, he promised me," Lian Xinying choked up, biting her lower lip until it turned purple.

"Ah! With this incident involving your dad, nobody wants to be associated with us. Yingying, don't be stubborn. The most important thing is to find a good family to marry into once this blows over."

Lian Xinying shook her head, shook it vigorously.

She didn't want to hear this kind of talk, didn't want to be a coward, didn't want to be like a soft persimmon that people could squeeze.

"If you don't go back to our hometown with me, where can you stay here? Your dad didn't have any siblings, and we don't have a place here anymore! I plan to bring your dad's ashes back to the hometown for burial." The old man's heart ached more than Lian Xinying's.

An old man losing his son is undoubtedly a huge blow.

Yet, in front of his granddaughter, he had to stay strong.

"I'll stay with my classmate for now; I've already talked to her. I'll learn to work and earn money, to support myself..." After Lian Xinying shared her plan, the old man's tears fell, and he turned away.

His precious granddaughter had never suffered before, and now she was talking about working to support herself.

She wouldn't bow her head if she weren't driven into a corner.

After the body was cremated, the old man, holding the urn, prepared to set off back to his hometown.

During his final farewell with Lian Xinying, Jian Wanrong arrived.

"Dad, didn't you agree that I would handle the aftermath?"

"Wanrong, you are still young, and now with what has happened to our family. I would not object to you remarrying in the future."

"Why would you say something like that? We are family, even though Lian Jie is gone, I still think of you as my father and Xinying as my daughter..." Jian Wanrong's words were sincerely spoken.

"Really? Xinying doesn't want to go back to the hometown with me. If you could help take care of Xinying..."

"Grandpa! I don't need her to take care of me! I'm not a child anymore, I can take care of myself, don't worry about me." After Lian Xinying gave Jian Wanrong a stern look, she pulled her grandfather away and they left.

Jian Wanrong's usual attitude towards her was cold as ice; now she was so enthusiastic, there must be some conspiracy.

After sending her grandfather off, Lian Xinying found that Jian Wanrong was still following her.

Jian Wanrong forced a smile, "So you still have to live with me."

"According to the law, once my dad died, your marriage to him ended too! You have no control over me!" Lian Xinying bit her lip, refusing to have any contact with her.

"Then I can be your guardian. Besides me, is there anyone else capable of taking care of you? Lian Xinying, you suspect me of killing your dad, don't you? If you want to find evidence, then stay with me." Jian Wanrong's eyes were filled with glee, her red lips curled, "Now, let's go to our new home."
