When he returned to the house, noisy music and loud conversations immediately reached his ears.

Jaxon quickly spotted Mary Jane and Betty, who were dancing together.

He looked at the two of them, enjoying the feast for the eyes.

"Two beauties, are you dancing? Can I join you?"

Mary Jane noticed Jaxon and asked, "Jaxon, where did you go just now?"

"Just wandering around," he replied with a smile.

Jaxon danced with Mary Jane while Betty decided to take a break.

"Jaxon, the opera I'm performing in will be happening in a few days. Will you come to see it?"

"Of course! This is an important day, and we definitely won't miss it. Not only me, but Gwen and Betty will also try to make time for it."

Mary Jane looked at him sadly, "You know, the person I care about most is you."

"Don't worry, I'll definitely be there," Jaxon assured her. "No one can stop me from seeing your show. Not even Jesus himself."

"I'm looking forward to your performance, and I believe you'll win over the audience with your own strength."

Mary Jane was deeply moved, "Thank you, Jaxon."

In the Bully Maguire version of the movie, Peter and Mary Jane had a conflict because Peter repeatedly missed Mary Jane's performances. Jaxon would definitely not make such a low-level mistake and would arrange everything. If something really happened, as long as it wasn't too serious, he'd leave it to law enforcement officers like George to handle. And if all else failed, he still had Peter and Tony to help.

Jaxon and Mary Jane continued to dance and chat. During this time, he noticed something odd—his good friend Peter wasn't with Liz.

Liz was busy entertaining her classmates, but Peter was nowhere to be seen.

"Mary Jane, have you seen Peter?"

"Oh, maybe he's feeling down," she replied.

"What happened?"

"He asked Liz to dance, but she turned him down."

"???"

Jaxon was stunned. Did something go wrong?

It didn't make sense. Why would Liz refuse Peter's invitation? It was just a dance, not a confession. There was no reason to turn him down directly.

"Did Liz accept any other boys' invitations?"

Mary Jane hesitated. "I don't think so. She seems to be busy entertaining classmates."

"Maybe Liz is just really busy. No need for Peter to be sad."

"I don't know. Anyway, I haven't seen him since then."

Jaxon felt concerned. "Okay, I'll check on him later. I hope he's not too down."

But Jaxon didn't leave right away; he still had his girlfriend to accompany. Between a girlfriend and a friend, did he really need to choose? Jaxon decisively chose to stay with Mary Jane.

After dancing with Mary Jane for a bit longer, he struck up a conversation with Betty.

"Betty, did you know that Liz turned Peter down just now?"

Betty, being close friends with Liz, nodded. "I saw it. I was there at the time."

"What exactly happened? If Liz only turned down Peter's dance invitation, why would he disappear?"

"Liz told Peter she already has someone she likes, so Peter was really disappointed."

So that was it. Jaxon had intercepted three of Peter's love interests already. This time, Peter had finally worked up the courage to pursue Liz, only to be let down again.

Curiosity got the better of Jaxon. Apart from himself, who else could have caught Liz's interest?

Flash, the brainless brawny guy? Ned, the chubby one? Or someone else? There wasn't anyone in their class who could compete with Peter. He was handsome, kind, and a top student. Since gaining his superpowers, he'd become more confident and optimistic. While not perfect, he was definitely popular among girls. So how did some nobody manage to steal his crush?

Maybe Liz's crush wasn't even from their class—that was possible.

"Liz has someone she likes? Betty, do you know who it is?"

Betty shook her head. "No, I don't."

"Betty, you're her best friend and a reporter. You have to believe in your instincts. You can probably dig up some clues."

"For example, has she ever mentioned what type of guys she likes? Or who she talks about most often?"

After thinking carefully, Betty glanced at Jaxon with a curious look.

Jaxon suddenly had a premonition.

Does Liz like me?

Just as Jaxon was mulling this over, Liz herself walked up to him.

"Jaxon, can I ask you to dance?"

When Jaxon heard her voice, he looked up to see Liz's long chocolatey legs before him.

As the captain of the cheerleading team, Liz had an amazing figure and beauty. Years of dancing had given her a sense of strength and grace.

"Inviting me to dance?"

With Betty and Mary Jane on either side of him, and noticing that Gwen and Hannah had returned, Jaxon hesitated. Wasn't this situation a bit… dangerous?

But it didn't seem right to refuse Liz, either. She was the organizer and the host of the party. As her guest, it wouldn't be polite to offend her.

Without much hesitation, Jaxon agreed. He'd explain it to Gwen and the others afterward.

"It's my pleasure."

Jaxon still didn't know Liz's intentions, so he kept his assumptions in check. However, the hints from Betty earlier and Liz's sudden invitation made him suspicious. Although Jaxon wasn't a narcissist, he was confident enough in his charm.

Jaxon and Liz's dance attracted a lot of attention. Liz was a popular cheerleader and one of the hottest girls in school.

Just moments ago, she'd turned down Peter's dance invitation. Now she was dancing with Jaxon. If Peter found out, he might faint in disappointment.

As they danced, Liz took the initiative to speak.

"Jaxon, it seems like you and Betty are pretty close."

"It's all right. She's close with Gwen, so we often grab coffee together."

Liz pressed on. "You know I'm not talking about just coffee. I mean a more… intimate relationship."

Realizing Liz was probing, Jaxon decided not to hide the truth.

"Yes, indeed. Why do you ask?"

Liz didn't answer directly, instead, she continued, "And your relationship with Gwen and Mary Jane?"

Jaxon saw no reason to hide anything and decided to test the waters.

"Yes, they're close to me as well."

As he answered, Jaxon's hand on Liz's waist accidentally slipped to her side.

Liz noticed but didn't stop him. She simply gave him a knowing look.

"They're all around, aren't you afraid of getting caught?" she asked with a mischievous smile.

"What do you mean, 'caught'?" Jaxon replied, feigning innocence. "And Liz, why all the questions?"

Liz looked directly into his eyes, and Jaxon noticed the heat in her gaze. It was a look he'd seen many times before.

'Hmm… could Betty's guess be correct?'

'Is my charm really that irresistible?'

Jaxon was a bit confused, as he was sure he'd never flirted with Liz before. He'd always focused his attention on Gwen, Mary Jane, and Betty at school. Occasionally, he'd tease Hannah, the shy beauty, but he'd rarely interacted with Liz.

But looking at Liz now, it seemed like she was offering herself on a silver platter.

'Peter, you can't blame me if I take this chance.' Jaxon thought, 'She's practically giving it away for free.'
