Chapter 22: The Shadow of a Demon God
Rope only felt a drop of cold sweat sliding down the corner of his forehead.
Entei is fine, Entei is fine in this cave, Entei is fine in front of Rope, there's a problem.
Rope wasn't Ash, the Chosen One could run into anything, and any Legendary Pokémon who hadn't seen Ash could leave the group.
Rope met Mew and the Three Legendary Giants when he was squatting at the Tree of Beginning, the God of Nightmare because of Fennel's dream energy, and then the Twin Gods of Time and Space because he caught the Alamos Town episode.
Rope could have sworn that he hadn't seen Ho-Oh and didn't have anything Ho-Oh related on him, so it would be out of character for the Entei pair of the Ho-Oh Guard to show up in Rope's presence of their own accord.
Rope isn't some innocent and pure Rainbow Hero. Rope doesn't think it's best to be innocent like Ash.
He doesn't want nothing but Pokémon in his head.
He still wants to abduct Cynthia back...
But the situation at hand obviously didn't allow him to think about that much anymore. Ever since his fight with Darkrai and the Twin Gods of Time and Space Rope had stopped thinking that all these Legendary Pokémon were friendly.
They weren't supposed to be biased, and humans were just ants. Never think that meeting a Pokémon is luck.
It's only luck if you come back alive.
Rope wasn't too nervous, though. If he had seen Yveltal, Rope would have run for his life. The Ho-Oh Guard still had a good reputation.
He looked at Entei, who was staring at him, and settled his nerves, clearing his throat before asking with a calm demeanor, "Entei, may I ask why you are here?"
Entei looked down at him for a long moment and let out a low growl.
Rotom Pokédex, beside Rope's shoulder, had the presence of mind to translate, "Entei says he senses the twin gods of time and space, the Nightmare God, and Mew in you. Loto."
"I did see them, but I don't recall any entanglement with Ho-Oh." Rope's demeanor was growing calmer.
Since he was willing to talk, there was no Legendary Pokémon that he, Rope, couldn't convince (fool).
Entei sniffed, gave Rope a deep look, and once again growled lowly.
"It says that since you're still alive it means you've gained the trust of those guys, so you're the one who only has my trust. I need your help, human. What the hell? Loto! You need our help?!"
Rotom looked at the serious looking Entei with a shocked expression.
Rope could tell that the one in front of him, was definitely the strongest of Entei's pack, sharing similar energy fluctuations as the Darkrai from Alamos Town that he had seen before. It was really the first time that Rope had encountered a flame energy that made him feel blazing hot.
Rope shook his head, "I don't know what I can do to help you. You're so powerful, it's rare among humans and even Pokémon that I know of. And I'm just a new trainer, these three in front of you are the only partners I have."
Rope pointed to Charmander, Growlithe, and Rotom with a serious look on his face.
Entei shook his head and continued to growl.
Rotom continued to translate, "We have sensed a certain powerful presence entering the Kanto region. And this being could cause us very great trouble. We need the help of the humans, and you, I would like you to help us contact the strongest among the humans and come over to help if possible. Lotto."
Rope immediately frowned upon hearing that.
This kind of request couldn't just be agreed to. Although it was true that with Rope's current connections, he had the ability to gather the strongest set of people in the human race over, but it wasn't a matter of ability. What would Elite Four champions from all over get together for?
There were very fucked up politics involved.
But the fact that Entei made such a request means that this matter, I'm afraid, is really a bit too big.
A thousand thoughts flashed through Rope's mind, he frowned and rubbed his brow with one finger, for a long time.Rope looked up and said seriously, "Entei, I don't want to get into this mess, but you've already said this, I hope that you can come up with a reason that will convince me, and the alliance. I am the Pokémon Professor of the Alliance, and I have the ability to meet your demands, but I need reasons."
Entei nodded.
"This is the sort of thing you should have been told, loto."
Entei organized his words.
"Ho-Oh has awakened a few days ago. She sensed the presence of that person and the overwhelming resentment. This is not a problem she can solve alone. But inviting other gods to help is a very unreliable thing, so she only invited Lugia, the God of the Sea who has strong mental resistance, and then asked us to start looking for helpers everywhere, preferably humans. Loto."
Rope tugged helplessly at the corners of his mouth, "Get to the point, I know it's the tense that's serious, what I need is a reason to convince someone."
A flicker of embarrassment flashed in Entei's eyes, but it was instantly suppressed. It said seriously, "I have only heard of that one's great name, but I have not seen it in person..."
The Rope was dumbfounded.
No one had told him that Entei, who was a big name in anime, manga, and games, and was super popular, was such a talker...
"He's the Demon God Hoopa, it's said..."
"Wait!"
Rope bellowed, interrupting Rotom's translation and Entei's telling.
Everyone present looked at Rope.Rope had a shocked look on his face at this moment. In one swift step, he rushed over to Pokémon Hunter, who was also dumbfounded at this point, and yanked him up from the ground by his collar so that he was eye-to-eye with himself.
The big man was dazed on one side, and there was a hint of trepidation.
No chills, the look in Rope's eyes now was terrifying.
"You guys, what's a robbery?!"
"Well... like, a bottle."
"Was it Arche Valley you guys robbed?"
"I... I don't know, but, maybe."
The question and answer ended, and Rope straight away felt the wires in his head threading all the bits and pieces all the way through.
Pokémon Hunter had grabbed the Prison Bottle from Arche Valley, and the leader of the Kalos had asked Rai to send the pot to Kanto, and the Kanto region was going to use the Hoopa, or Paldea to be exact, in the pot to grab a breeding site.
Just kidding about the nifty jokes! Unless the Pokémon Hunter leader of the Kanto region didn't know what Hoopa was capable of, he would never have used it for just such a trivial task!
But if he didn't know about Hoopa, why would he specifically want Prison Bottle!
Damn, Kalos's stupidity was fine if he knew, but if he didn't, then I'm afraid the thoughts of this Kanto region's chief would have to be guessed in the worst direction.
Rope violently threw Pokémon Hunter to the ground.
"Damn!!!"
After all this, Rope didn't think Hoopa would be able to handle all those Legendary Pokémon as well as he did in the movie.
The movie didn't have a simple solution like the Alamos Town incident.
If the Prison Bottle falls apart after releasing Paldea, it will even have to be brought back to Kalos to be repaired!
Moreover, the destructive power of those Legendary Pokémon is not as gentle as shown in the movie.
Legendary Pokémon that are manipulated by evil thoughts and fire at full power won't be as restrained as the ones that fought in Alamos Town earlier.
And that was just two. It's not certain how many more...
"Rotom! Contact Professor Oak immediately!..."
Rope took a deep breath to calm himself.
"Kanto's going to be in big trouble this time."
