Chapter 23: Call for Friends
"Professor." Rope's expression was serious and heavy.
Professor Oak knew it wasn't a small matter as soon as he saw that expression, so he also sat upright and asked, "What is it?"
"Professor do you know about Hoopa?" Rope came out of his earlier shock and worry with a serious but still steady look.
Professor Oak frowned, thought for a while, and said, "I remember hearing Professor Sycamore mention it. He said it was a Legendary Pokémon with good spatial manipulation ability, but not very powerful. He saw it in a place called Arche Valley where Arceus believers live. It was a very naughty guy."
It was indeed an old story that Professor Oak had dredged up from the nooks and crannies of his mind, remembering that Professor Sycamore at the time was still just a fledgling researcher. He hadn't yet had a detailed plan for his research direction, and had talked to himself about it during a summit, but only as an anecdote to be talked about on his travels.
Rope shook his head.
"According to my research, Hoopa is not weak, but too strong. Ordinary Legendary Pokémon are probably no match for him. He is called the Super Demon God. He also has the ability to summon other Legendary Pokémon and teleport them to other places. What Professor Sycamore saw was probably Hoopa sealed by Arceus."
Professor Oak nodded, signaling that he knew. He didn't question the information Rope had said about Hoopa. For one thing, Professor Sycamore wasn't studying Legendary Pokémon and Legendary Pokémon. The ones he was most familiar with would be the X-God Xerneas and Y-God Yveltal of the Kalos region. because the Mega Evolution that Professor Sycamore was studying was inseparable from these two gods.
Secondly, Rope is definitely the one who is most familiar with Legendary Pokémon in the research community. It could be said that Rope's words right now, in this field, were the authority.
"But what happened to Hoopa? Isn't he in the Kalos region?" Professor Oak asked rather puzzled. He was confused by Rope's words.
Rope solemnly said, "Professor, a few Pokémon Hunters brought the Prison Bottle containing Hoopa's evil thoughts to Kanto, and they are most likely trying to cause pandemonium in Kanto."
Professor Oak's face became slightly grave as he sniffed. After listening to Rope's description of Hoopa, he also guessed the subsequent development of the situation.
"Are you saying that they could possibly manipulate Hoopa's evil thoughts to summon other Legendary Pokémon and then attack in Kanto?"
Professor Oak's face hardened a bit. He didn't know much about Legendary Pokémon, but he never dared to underestimate them. The biggest threat to the Hoenn region was never Team Aqua or Team Magma. Even without these two villainous organizations, Groudon and Kyogre are just as likely to get up and fight as they are to fight.
A single screw-up is the destruction of one or even several major cities, and for a regional League, breaking bones is absolute. If Legendary Pokémon is allowed to wreak havoc. Then the demise of the entire League might be possible.
Legendary Pokémon, in the midst of Rope's research was the defender of the natural order. But in the eyes of more people, their powerful natural disaster-like power is the hidden danger of order, the bomb of instability.
It's hard for Professor Oak to think of more than three Legendary Pokémon having fun in Kanto.
But Rope shook his head. Amidst Professor Oak's puzzled gaze, he said with a bit of helplessness
Rope nodded seriously, "I will continue to investigate and get evidence next. But before I get the evidence, Professor you can try your best to help me lay the groundwork."
"This is no problem, I will go now, aiya, you little brat never let me worry. First it was Charmander, and it didn't take long for this Hoopa thing to happen again."
Professor Oak covered his forehead and felt very helpless.
Back then, he thought that Red and Blue, who fought with Team Rocket, were already capable of causing trouble. But when Rope went out, he realized that there was really a mountain that was higher than the other one.
Rope can only smile helplessly, he doesn't want to. He only wanted to train well and then participate in the Indigo Plateau Conference to get a championship back. Then he would travel around and find new bonds and goals in his travels.
But who would have thought that trouble was like the wind, always with him.
He was just a new trainer! His abilities were still small, so how come he ran into such big events!
Professor Oak waved his hand helplessly before hanging up the phone.
Rope took a deep breath, then got up and took Charmander and Growlithe back into the ball. He looked at Entei and said, "Next, you'll need to go with me to gain the trust of some people and get evidence that can be convincing to others."
Entei frowned slightly for a long moment, nodded in agreement, and growled.
Rotom translated very promptly, "We've reached out to some of you, as well as Blaine from Cinnabar Island..."
Rope nodded, "But we still need proof, proof that the others will believe us and then evacuate from the neighborhood. Defeating Pokémon Hunter and Hoopa was supposed to be our job, there's no need for civilians to be sacrificed."
"But we're on a tight schedule loto!"
"If you don't want to, then hire someone else. I'm not giving up on finding evidence, and I'm not going to let this one come to an unneeded sacrifice."
Rope looked Entei straight in the eye, not a hint that he was going to back down.
Not letting Hoopa wreak havoc was why he'd agreed to be a part of this. He wouldn't stop Hoopa just for the sake of stopping Hoopa. his fundamental purpose was to avoid loss.
Entei looked into the eyes of the human in front of him.
It saw unwavering determination and a determination to part ways.
It nodded slowly.
It was Legendary Pokémon's recognition of human.
Rope took a deep breath and looked at the rain outside the cave, his face sullen, not knowing what he was thinking.
