Love from Beyond

Chapter 2: staring into his dark eyes

The hooded man stepped closer " I am someone who just saved you from killing yourself".

He tilted his head from side to side as if to get a closer look at the odd girl in front of him.

In her ears, his voice sounded sweet and soft so decadent, like melted butter.

" Kill my self? Save me? I believe you've got the situation wrong mister. And what exactly are you doing here?" She looked at him as he had stopped moving and was now watching her like a predator waiting to strike it's prey.

"Really? I see so you weren't trying to jump off the cliff, that sounds weirdly interesting"

he said and took another step closer to her. When he got to the log, he hauled himself on it and casually sat on it while Liana watched him with a questionable glare as she had become for unknown reasons frozen in her steps while her heart continued to beat faster than usual.

As he made himself comfortable on the log he looked at her "By the way, who are you?"

Liana looked at him with anger in her eyes, feeling offended and a tad bit embarrassed that he had no idea as to who she was, like who didn't know the daughter of the king of Ravens peak?, Or was he just messing with her

" you don't know who I am!!"

The man brought down his hood, placed his hand on his knee and rested his head on his hand, and then looked at her face with all seriousness boring his black eyes feeling into her

" Nope, I have no idea am I supposed to know you? Is that how famous you are in this kingdom, that you feel every stranger you meet is expected to know you?"

She could feel her heart pounding as though it was hell-bent on leaving her chest. This stranger spelled trouble and danger.

He had no idea who she was which means he was an outsider. Or was it that his pack stayed far from the kingdom's capital cause she was sure everyone knew who daughter she was, but anyhow she had to get out of his sight as quick as possible.

She scanned the area looking for an exit and an opening to flee, even though he was yet to pose a threat to her she couldn't help but feel weary and scared.

She could feel his black eyes on her, watching her every move

"Relax little mouse, if your heart continues beating at that rate it could explode"

Liana quickly faced him and fluttered her long eyelashes as a wave of realization hit her, of cause he could hear her thudding heart.

"Your eyes are glossy, and I smell a small hint of salt were you perhaps crying? Is that why you're here by yourself this late?"

He asked while looking at her tender blue eyes.

Liana slowly moved away from him towards the exist but for some weird reason she didn't want to leave,h er body felt rooted to the ground as it argued against the thought of leaving the mysterious stranger behind

. No no no not him, she meant her safe haven. Leaving her safe haven behind in the hands of this hooded man.

"I wouldn't be so quick to leave if I were you" he said with a smile

"And why is that?"

She asked him looking a bit shocked that he knew she was about to leave. As if on cue, she heard the sound of horses and carriages passing by.

"I'm not here alone, I'm actually amongst an entourage" he laughed softly when he saw the confused look on the girls face

" Well you see, there'll be a grand wedding in a few days time and we have come from the outskirts to witness it"

"A grand wedding? I don't think I'm aware of it" she rasped, whose wedding was it that would entertain such a huge number of horses and carriages

"ahhhhh I see you're not aware, for someone who acts all important you seem to be quite uninformed, well if you must know, the princess is getting married" he whispered as the sound of hooves kept passing by.

Oh so it was because of her arranged marriage but that wasn't happening anytime soon, she thought to her self " why are you whispering though?" She furrowed her brows while looking at the strange man

His lips formed a small yet cute smile that brought about cute dimples on his cheeks.

For a minute Liana couldn't breathe and her heart skipped a beat, He was devilishly handsome and beyond all reasonable doubts and his brows were so perfectly shaped, his lashes were so long and full and pretty, his lips were perfectly bow shaped on his perfectly chiseled face and his black silky hair- oh his black silky hair would feel so nice if she threaded her fingers in them and his eyes...

Oh heaven's what was she thinking.

"I'm whispering because I wouldn't want someone hearing our voices and coming over her to check up on us, I mean I have no issues with that but I don't really think you'd be close to being comfortable if someone were to catch us together in such a secluded place under the moonlight with you wearing such a flimsy cotton dress"

he whispered enough for her to hear him as he pointed to her night gown

It was at that moment she realized, that in her fit of rage she had stormed out of the castle without wearing proper clothes. He was right, what would people think of her if they were to catch her with a man in the woods especially now that her marriage had been fixed.

Seeing that she had no choice she nodded her head gently.

"Shouldn't you be with your troupe?"

She asked while listening to the fading hooves sound and trying to keep up an unbothered façade

"I should be, but I don't think anyone there misses me. In fact I doubt if they've even noticed my absence" he shrugged. His taste worthy lips tugged up " you didn't answer my question earlier, "why were you crying out here all alone?"

Liana felt the urge to run but her body just wouldn't respond to her " My Father wants me to marry someone I don't know, someone I don't love, a man older than me probably a person of his age group and I'm so angry at him and myself because I have no choice"

The stranger seemed to freeze at her words, after what seemed like an eternity he finally answered her while staring at the unknown

"well that's worth jumping off a cliff I guess, why don't you just refuse the offer"

She let out a dry laugh "it isn't easy as you think it to be, I don't think I'd be able to escape this ill fate of mine"

"I presume you're royalty? Because from what I know only royalties are forced into marriages inorder to form an alliance or strengthen a bond"

She looked at him wide-eyed while his voice turned cold " And if that is the case I believe your father must be a wise man"

Liana couldn't believe her ears, she let out a small laughter and casually walked towards the massive tree

"This conversation is over, I hope you enjoy the wedding, oh and welcome to Ravens peak Capital".

As her pace increased, she was gently pushed to the side of the tree, trapping her with his body and cupping her mouth with his arms inorder to stifle any form of noise from her mouth

"There's another group coming" he whispered into her ear making goose bumps form all over her skin, Liana quickly stilled as her blue eyes stared into his black eyes with fear.
