Luisa and the Witcher

Chapter 17: Day two

"Huff..." Luisa gasped for air as her eyes shut open.

"No...no..." she mumbled. She was back, she felt goosebumps form on her skin as she began to feel the cold from the metal floor.

Where was she now? She slowly raised her head, her vision zooming in and out. She was in a four square room made of complete metal including the ceilings. There were no windows or door, or so it seems but she was being watched.

'Where were the others?' she asked herself. She tried to get up but only fell back down, she hasn't felt this weak and broken down in her whole life. Her hands reached for her hair as she laid side way on the floor.

She squeezed her hair until she felt pain, removing her hands from her head, she slammed it on the floor trying to get up again, her kneels and palms on the floor as she gritted her teeth in total pain.

Her veins started to erect again, the color of her veins fixating from dark green to midnight blue until it turned completely black, so did the pupil and the iris of her eyes, stretching to her entire eyeballs including the white part as if a demon had possessed her.

Black veins form on her temples, she continued to struggle to breathe, she was in the final stage of transformation, one of her hands went to her chest. She felt as if her heart was being squeezed or stabbed multiple times.

Her hand went back to the metal floor as she started to cough out black blood. All these pains from different directions, she felt like passing out again. Her chest hurt, her head also hurt and her entire body felt like it was being set on fire as she struggled to breathe.

She finally collapsed on the ground, everything began to spin in her eyes. Her memories began flashed before her eyes both the memorable and gruesome ones.

"Ahhh!" she screamed loudly as if it will end the pain, single tears rolled down her cheeks.

A blue hue appeared in the middle of her black eyes spreading to become her iris leaving a black hue as her pupil and what was supposed to be the white of her eyes.

The blue hue was like a vapor in her eyes, it started to change to gold, like a golden vapor, it look so much like a bright golden fire. Luisa felt her breaths returning but the pain in her heart didn't stop yet. Her veins started to relax slowly, she gasp for breath although her breath had returned, it hasn't settled yet.

"Luisa...Luisa," she heard that all too familiar voice but she couldn't see a thing.

Her whole vision was blurry with different shades of color in vapor form, as if someone poured sauce into her eyes and it hurt. She swiped her head left and right slowly. Zeke sat on the floor and held Luisa in his arms.

He stared at her so intently, she just blinked at him, her eyelashes flapping so slowly. She was so weak right now that she couldn't even move anything but her eyelashes which were also giving up now, that was the extent of how fatigue had overpowered her.

She blinked so slowly and blinked again. The next time she blinked and opened her eyes again, her eyes were no longer black but normal again except, her beautiful green eyes had changed to beautiful and powerful golden ones.

Zeke smiled at her, "Good girl, shortie. You did it," she smiled back at him before surrendering to the darkness once again.

...

Days later...

Only three of them were able to pass the trial of the grasses, the other one couldn't survive it and suffered of a heart corruption which led to the person's death.

The three of them stood in front of Nuka, the leader of the witchers in his large drawing room. Nuka's eyes were trained on them. Also present in the room were two senior mages and three senior witchers including Zeke.

"You three are the successful candidates of your set of recruits. I'm pleased to announce to you that from this day onwards you are now witchers and a part of the witcheryhood and brotherhood of kimoira," Nuka started.

"So when are we going to be assigned our first mission?" Gideon asked and Nuka let out a throaty laugh.

"Vampire boy here is too excited and can't wait for his first mission," Nuka responded, making Gideon to frown.

"I'm no longer a vampire but a witcher and don't refer to me as a boy," Gideon replied.

"Because you are a witcher now doesn't mean you stop being a vampire and I will refer to you however I like, I think you have forgotten your place," Nuka retaliated but Gideon continued to glare at him.

"You fresh witchers will perform a period of being a protege to three of our most prominent witchers which are actually seated here," Nuka continued.

"What? Protege?!" Luisa responded

"You heard right, sweetheart?" Nuka replied

"(Scoffs)...After everything you don't still think we're capable enough? And don't call me sweetheart," Luisa stated and Nuka snouted turning towards Zeke.

"I didn't expect less from recruits trained by Hezekiah Kadmiel, they're as rude as you!" Nuka highlighted and the corner of Zeke's lips pulled up a little in a smirk.

"Well that's the procedure here, fresh witchers are to serve a period of being proteges before they are granted the rights to hunt on their own," Nuka continued.

"For how long?" Luisa asked

"It depends. Your mentor will have to approve you field ready first, so don't give your mentor a hard time so that they won't give you a hard time. As a protege, you will follow your mentor to almost everywhere he goes and most especially to missions.

"Missions are not only assigned, you might be pleasuring your time away and a monster may pop out of no where, so stay sharp and don't die. Mentors? You may choose your proteges now," Nuka elaborated.

"Luisa," Zeke chose and Luisa smiled in her mind, of course he would choose her.

"I'll have the vampire," the other witcher mentioned.

"Oh, I see what you duo did there," commented the red haired witcher, Gar for short.

"You all left me with the human. (Taps the human boy's shoulder) hope you've got what it takes, boy," Gar told.

It was almost twilight and the evening breeze blown on them as the trio decided to stroll around together after they were dismissed.

"Isn't this great? We finally have freedom of movement?" the human boy started.

"Didn't we have it before?" Gideon asked.

"No, now we are allowed to leave kimoira anytime we like," the boy answered.

"Not anytime we like. Only with our mentors till we are (Mimics Nuka)...field approved," Gideon replied.

"Yeah whatever. At least now, we have a change of wardrobe, a room of our own -Separately. I was getting sick of the recruits quarters," the boy continued.

A horse wagon, covered at the top came to a stop besides them. Two witchers came out of the back and male children about nine to eleven years old started to alight from the back as well.

'New recruits,' Luisa thought.

There were no female among them. They haven't started recruiting girls, not like she will recommend it. Now, to think about it, she wondered how these boys were recruited. Were they abducted like in the stories she use to hear about the witchers?.

They walked passed.

"I really look good with these gold eyes. I was lucky to have survived, we've come a long way," the human boy continued rambling on.

"Yes, why don't we go hang out with some other fresh witchers? I'm sure we'll find some of them in that building ahead," Gideon suggested.

"Sure, but I thought we were the only fresh witchers?" the boy asked.

"No you dummy. I meant other witchers who are still in their protege stage. The recruits before us," Gideon tried to explain.

"Oh..." the human boy responded.

"You are such an airhead," Luisa finally spoke up, referring to the human.

"Oh...She talks. I was wondering when you were going to shut up," the boy joked sarcastically.

"Hey, what's your name?" Luisa asked.

"Oh, it's Hal...short for Hallard," the human boy replied Luisa.

"Well, Hal. You talk a lot. For the next few minutes that you're in my presence. You better stop rambling or I'll help you," Luisa warned.

They had gotten to the building which was just one floored and it seems to be a merriment spot as there were a lot of noise coming from inside. Luisa walked in first.

"I was just joking, jeez," Hal swallowed subconsciously and Gideon smirked at him.
