My Beast Evolution System

Chapter 19: 19. Reclaiming The Farmlands.

His blade sank deeper into the alpha's neck causing it to growl loudly as its movement gradually became frantic in a bid to free itself.

"Now!!!" Aaron shouted and the girls converged. Their attacks were coordinated and Glimmer leaped onto the Alpha's back before sinking its sharp teeth into the beast's neck.

Meanwhile, Aaron delivered the final blow as his sword pierced into the heart of the Alpha, causing the Alpha to let out one last, guttural roar before collapsing and disintegrating into ashes.

Aaron and the girls stood in silence as they breathed heavily while staring at the Alpha's lifeless body which was slowly turning into ashes.

However, the moment was broken as Glimmer padded over to Aaron to nuzzle his leg.

"We did it," Aaron heard Aurora's voice behind him. Although, her face still had a look of disbelief written all over it.

Meanwhile, Diana sheathed her sword with a faint smirk on her face. "Yeah, we did, and it's not bad for a first major fight."

The moment Diana said this, Aaron saw a system notification pop up in front of him.

[Congratulations to the host, your Glimmerfox's loyalty has risen to 30%.]

[Your Glimmerfox has also unlocked a new skill {Dual Strike}.]

[Cumulative bond energy is now 30 bond energy points.]

[The host has also obtained a new skill {Dual Strike}.]

[Dual Strike:- This skill allows the host's bonded beasts to synchronize their attack to increase the damage and precision of any attack made.]

Aaron read the notification displayed in front of him, then he glanced down at Glimmer and his lips widened into a smile. "You did well today, Glimmer."

"Yip!!!" Glimmer let out a happy yip while wagging her tail excitedly.

"It's time to go home."

And with that, the farmlands had successfully been reclaimed.

They got back to the capital with success on their tails and the moment they arrived, Luna's face lit up with relief as she ran towards Aaron to give him a huge hug, burying her face in his chest. "You're back!! I knew you could do it!!"

Aaron smiled and patted the back of his little sister's head. "Yeah, we did it together, and now the farmlands are ours again, but we still have a long way to go."

Luna nodded her head in understanding, but she was just glad to see them alive again.

A few minutes later, Luna stood in the town square to face a gathering of the townsfolk. The sound of everyone murmuring filled the air and the townsfolk had mixed expressions of relief and uncertainty.

The news of the reclaimed farmlands had spread like wildfire throughout the capital and many of them still couldn't believe the farmlands had been reclaimed.

"The farmlands are now ours again," Luna began as she addressed the townsfolk. "Princess Aurora, lady Diana, and my big brother have dealt with the demonic beasts that plagued the Farmlands, including the alpha, and now, it's safe for everyone to return."

The sound of murmuring rippled through the crowd and an older man raised his hand to ask a question. Luna nodded her head for him to speak. "But what if more of those beasts come back? We've seen what they can do, and the other towns and villages within the barony are still filled with demonic beasts; who's to say that even stronger beasts won't return to raid the farmlands?"

Diana, who was standing behind Luna, nodded her head before speaking. "You're right and that's a possibility that the Baron had already thought about. He has decided to set up patrols and fortify the area to ensure the safety of everyone," She said and Aaron couldn't help but notice how Diana referred to him using his father's title.

Of course, the townsfolk noticed this as well and this prompted a woman to step forward with a worried look on her face. "Why should we trust the Baron's son? He fled during the last beast tide in the farmlands. Who can say that he won't do it again?"

"Ugh!!!" The lady's words hit hard, and an imaginary arrow aimed straight toward Aaron's heart, but to his surprise, Aurora had something to say about that.

"You're right. Aaron had done something a leader should never do, but no one is above making mistakes, and he has proven to everyone now what he's capable of doing."

Silence reigned in the town square as they listened to what Aurora said. Luna stepped forward once again and supported Aurora. "Princess Aurora is right, Big brother has changed, and I believe in him. He risked his life to take back the farmlands and I'm ready to support him as the Baron."

The crowd exchanged glances after listening to what Luna had to say, and every single one of them gradually began to give a nod of agreement as well.

Since Luna was ready to believe in her brother, the townsfolk were ready to believe in her as well.

Although Luna was adopted, just like Aaron, the townsfolk had come to love and respect Luna a lot because of how friendly she was to everyone.

Even when there was no food in the town, Luna had been doing everything in her might to help keep the morale of the people high.

She gave everyone a reason to live and stay alive, and many of the injured knights were prepared to lay down their lives for her.

Of course, the knights were also listening to everything that was being said right now and many were prepared to work for the new Baron if the situation called for it, but for now, they were all focused on healing.

Aaron left the gathering with renewed energy to protect his sister at all costs, so he returned to the mansion.

He entered his bedroom and the first thing he did was to plop down on his bed.

"Ugh," He groaned as he turned over on his bed and stared at the ceiling.

Glimmer hopped onto his bed to lay down beside him, and Aaron decided to take a look at his status.
