Chapter 9: Chapter 8: The Organization Needs to Talk
Nori followed Rika out of the room and through the portal back to the main room that Aki resides in. A giant table was setup with plenty of seats for people to sit at.
A couple of people already appeared to be here, some men and women in suits with masks covering their faces. The masks appeared to be made of some sort of white ceramic material and they all remained silent.
Aki was also already seated at the end of the table and he just looked towards the two of them. "Take a seat guys. We were just about to start." Aki speaks up with a bit of enthusiasm in his voice.
I don't like how enthusiastic he is about this, these guys are all dressed rather odd. Rika didn't mention much about who these guys are or what they want to talk about.
I'm kind of in the dark with everything here but I'm sure I'll find out more soon enough.
"Let's take a seat." Rika whispers to Nori.
"Yeah." Nori responds while pulling out one of the chairs.
I didn't mind the weird situation at first but I'm not familiar with anything that's going on so it's kind of odd.
Nori sat in silence as the conversations began about what needed to be done with the current situation at hand.
One man with a black mask which was different from the others was the main person speaking currently. "Dealing with an S class Abyssal stalker is proving to be a lot more demanding than we expected. Are your people capable of assisting in this matter?" The man asks with a bit of curiosity in his voice.
An S class what? Speaking about these things as if I know what they are is kind of annoying. What was the creature that I dealt with before? He also mentioned a class which is probably something like a ranking for these creatures.
What would the highest ranking be for these things? The one I fought had to be pretty high up there if it was able to deal that kind of damage so easily right.
"Don't worry about the class stuff right now Nori. I'll explain more about that to you later on." Rika whispers with a slight smile on her face.
I got to give her credit, she's able to give a smile about most of these things going on. I barely understand what's happening with this whole conversation.
Aki speaks with a bit of confidence behind his voice. "I'm pretty positive my people can help with this. They've all proven to be rather strong so far. Obviously you wouldn't be coming to us if you didn't think we could do anything." Aki speaks while staring directly at the man with the black mask.
Whispers went about the room as they thought about what Aki said. It was considered disrespectful but the man in the black mask didn't have an issue with it.
"You're right. Chronos needs as much help as we can get." The man responds with an understanding tone in his voice.
The Chronos organization? I'm pretty sure they are the ones responsible for handling any issues involving monsters, demons, or anything in that category really.
I never got to see much about them in the news or even in some of the papers when I went to the store near my apartment. Chronos is pretty quiet and under the radar for the most part.
It doesn't surprise me that they'd be so mysterious to me since the general public didn't know much. The government probably wanted it that way for a reason so that the people didn't panic about it.
"So where are the rest of your people?" One of the other members asked. A softer tone in their voice, it was definitely a woman.
I was actually thinking the same thing as her since I didn't really get to meet the other people yet. I was supposed to meet them before but they were apparently busy or something if I remember right.
Aki takes a moment before letting out a sigh. "Yeah they are quite busy handling things. It's a pain when we have to deal with so many problems all the time." Aki answers while crossing his arms.
Rika nudges Nori. "He's not wrong, you'll be busy soon too. I'll be by your side of course but they are always dealing with creatures." Rika says quietly while murmurs are heard around the room.
"I guess that's something." Nori whispers back while looking around the room.
It could be a long time before I meet these people so I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up too much about it. Rika seemed pretty excited about me meeting them before so maybe she'll tell me about them.
I don't even know how many of them are in this group that Aki runs but Chronos seems to be pretty well aware of the strength here.
Nori sat there with Rika as the conversations continued on for awhile, nothing to important, mostly just business. Aki seemed to have some sort of deal with Chronos for certain gear and weapons.
It makes sense since it's hard to get hands on weapons that they use there. Aki also has gear made by Chronos which is shocking to know.
Rika wasn't too interested in the conversations and mostly stared at Nori the whole time.
I've felt my heart racing this whole time since Rika's eyes have been locked on me since we got here. I don't mind it but I'm definitely not use to a girl staring at me for such a long period of time.
Aki is definitely meant to be a leader by the way he talks to these people, maybe he isn't so bad after all. It kind of shows that he had good reasons to send me to that creature without any hesitation.
The conversations came to a close and the man with the black mask seemed to be focused on Nori.
