Chapter 11: 11. Let's Continue Generating Electricity
Trainer!
A dream that every child in this world has.
Many aspire to become Trainers from a young age, but only a few manage to achieve this goal.
The first obstacle? Money.
After all, not every family is wealthy enough to support such a dream.
While many civilian Trainers are self-sufficient, most remain at the middle or lower levels, and only a handful ever reach the top.
Even though they may not rise to the top, many are content with just becoming Trainers.
People are willing to go to great lengths to pursue this path.
Some might even struggle daily just to afford powerful Pokémon, but they persist.
Though the initial investment is high, the rewards can be substantial if they succeed.
Naturally, the kids in the orphanage dream of becoming Trainers too.
If Evan had the money, could they become Trainers?
For a moment, all the children looked at Evan with hopeful eyes.
Evan smiled at their curiosity.
"Ajie, are you sure you want to be a Trainer?"
The skinny boy in front of him, Ajie, was a clever little one.
His question had taken Evan by surprise.
Was he really planning to train all these kids to become Trainers?
Evan hadn't thought about it before.
But if they were serious about it, he wouldn't mind helping.
When Evan asked, Ajie shook his head.
"No!"
"I don't want that."
"I want to make money!!"
"Lots and lots of money!!"
"But Brother Tiger and the others do want to be Trainers."
"That's why I asked."
His gaze was steady, showing his strong desire to earn money.
For Ajie, making money seemed more important than becoming a Trainer.
Evan chuckled at his determined, money-obsessed expression.
"Well," Evan said, "if any of you want to be Trainers, when I have enough money, I can help."
"But becoming a Trainer isn't easy."
"You'll need to study hard to achieve that."
"If you can get your certification by then, I'll prepare Pokémon and everything you need."
"So don't worry~!"
With just a few words, Evan made a promise to the little ones.
Immediately, excitement filled the air.
"Yay!!"
"Long live Brother Evan!"
"Evan brother is the best! Can you buy me ice cream?"
....
Listening to the request of a 4-year-old girl, Evan was momentarily speechless.
Sure enough, for a little girl, nothing is more important than food.
Evan couldn't help but laugh.
Mature kids like Luna and Tiger also made up their minds at that moment.
They were going to become Trainers!
And they would start working on it right away, so when the time came, Evan could help them get their Pokémon.
They didn't doubt Evan's words for a second.
After all, Evan had never lied to them.
Watching the group of excited kids, Evan smiled.
Maybe if he didn't want to be a Trainer himself, helping train future Trainers could be just as fulfilling.
The thought made Evan happy.
Still, this plan would take time to develop.
He'd have to wait until they were older.
Perhaps, by the time they reached junior high, he could start preparing Pokémon for them.
At that point, he could register the Pokémon under his name and let the kids take care of them.
Once they earned their certifications, the Pokémon would officially be theirs.
Who knows? By the time they graduated, they might already be strong enough to become Elites or even Champions.
After all, that's how many Trainers begin, right?
With this in mind, Evan couldn't help but smile.
....
Evan didn't say much more about the topic.
There was still a long way to go, and it didn't make sense to make too many promises now.
Today wasn't about making grand plans; it was about keeping the kids happy.
Too much talk could lead to disappointment later.
For now, his focus was on making money.
The energy cubes in the oven were finally done.
Once the oven temperature dropped to zero, Evan took out the energy cubes and set them aside to cool.
After cooling them down, he steamed them for five more minutes.
Once done, he carefully removed them, mixed the ingredients again, and had the kids help mold them before placing them back in the oven.
Soon enough, the first batch of Thunder Energy Cubes was ready.
When the finished product came out, everyone's eyes widened.
The energy cubes in front of them were like jelly—bouncy and shiny.
They looked amazing.
"This energy cube feels different from the ones Grandpa Dean used to make," Luna said as she poked the cube with her finger, clearly curious.
"It's better looking."
"Brother Evan, is this an advanced energy cube?" she asked, her eyes full of wonder.
Evan shook his head with a smile.
"Not quite," he replied.
"This is just an intermediate energy cube."
"We're making it the traditional way, and the formula helps give it that nice appearance."
"Alright, let's take these out now, clean the molds, and get the next batch of ingredients ready for baking."
"Oh, and Pichu, come here and give it a try! Let's see if you like the taste."
After explaining briefly, Evan got back to organizing the work.
They needed to reuse the molds for the next batch. At the same time, Evan called Pichu over to try the energy cubes, which were designed especially for Thunder-type Pokémon. With their lightning-like color and slight tingling taste, Pichu was bound to enjoy them.
Hearing Evan call, Pichu's ears perked up in excitement.
It had been eyeing the energy cubes since they came out of the oven, its curiosity turning into hunger.
Now, without hesitation, Pichu scampered over, grabbed a cube from the basin, and stuffed it into its mouth.
'Zizi~~!'
With one bite, a small jolt of electricity flickered through Pichu's cheeks.
(*^▽^*)
'Pichu~~!' it squealed happily.
Delicious! It loved the taste.
Pichu quickly finished the first cube and eagerly grabbed another, savoring every bite.
Watching this, Evan knew he had succeeded.
"Great! You love it," Evan said with satisfaction.
"Looks like it turned out perfect."
"Luna, can you grab some sealed bags? Let's store these."
"I'll keep working on the next batch of energy cubes."
Luna nodded enthusiastically. These energy cubes meant more money, and with money, they could improve their meals. Plus, Evan had mentioned something about registering a patent for the cubes. Once that happened, they'd have even more money—and with enough money, becoming a Trainer was no longer just a dream.
Thinking of this, Luna rushed out to help.
"Sis, wait for me!" a four-year-old girl called out, quickly running after her.
Meanwhile, Pichu was still busy munching on energy cubes. But after devouring four or five pieces, its belly started to swell.
It was officially full!
