Chapter 8: 8. Going Out To Pick Up Money Is A Happy Thing
It is a very pleasant thing to find money when you go out.
Carrying the things she needed, Evan began to go down the mountain and headed towards the orphanage.
Walking alone in the forest without Pokémon, Evan didn't panic at all.
Because none of the Pokémon here could defeat him.
It could be said that Evan was now the little bully around here.
Of course, Evan didn't let it get to his head.
He only gets carried away when he uses his full Psychic abilities.
He felt invincible, even thinking he could take on an alpaca if one showed up.
Fortunately, Evan was very sensible.
That kind of thinking wouldn't work—after all, alpacas have super immunity.
He couldn't beat one, no way.
It was just like a certain situation with Paimon; no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't break through.
As he pondered these things, Evan quickly descended the mountain.
While walking, Evan suddenly felt the Poké Ball in his pocket shaking.
Sensing this, Evan hurriedly took it out and opened it.
Immediately, Pichu appeared before him, a small bump on its forehead.
"Pichu..."
The little Pokémon seemed a bit dazed.
Its big, adorable eyes looked up at Evan in confusion.
Slowly, tears began welling up in its eyes.
┭┮﹏┭┮
It started crying.
What a mess! Why had it suddenly been caught?
All it had wanted was to eat a fruit.
But then, out of nowhere, it had been knocked out, and now it had a Trainer?
'Pichu~~!' o(╥﹏╥)o
'Pi! !' (ノへ ̄,)
It kept crying, rubbing its eyes to wipe away the tears.
Evan's mouth twitched as he looked at the little guy in front of him.
"Alright, stop crying."
"From now on, you're my little one."
"There's no use crying over it."
After hearing Evan's words, Pichu began to spark with electricity.
(﹏.)zz
It stopped crying but covered its face, refusing to look at Evan.
Clearly, it was not entirely happy about this.
Seeing this, Evan scolded playfully:
"Are you going to be my Pokémon or not?"
"Give me an answer."
"If not, I'll have to take you to a Pokémon shelter."
"Just so you know, my Poké Balls are really expensive."
"If I drop you off, I might be able to trade you in for another Poké Ball."
"If you don't want to be my Pokémon, that's what I'll have to do."
Upon hearing this, Pichu snapped out of its sulk.
It quickly looked up at Evan.
'Pi?'
Its body began to spark, as if preparing to attack.
Seeing this, Evan didn't respond immediately but released a portion of his Psychic energy.
"What's this?"
"You want to fight?"
"I don't have any Pokémon with me right now."
"But, I think I can handle you myself."
As he said this, a sly grin appeared on Evan's face.
Pichu's intentions were clear.
It wanted a battle.
The little one sure had some pride!
.....
Feeling the immense psychic pressure, Pichu suddenly froze in fear.
'Pichu!'
'I surrender, I surrender!'
What a joke.
A human with such terrifying Psychic power?
It might be small, but Pichu wasn't foolish.
This was way scarier than the Gardevoir it had seen before.
No way it could fight. Absolutely not.
If it tried, it would definitely be beaten and tossed around!
With that in mind, Pichu quickly ran over and started nuzzling against Evan's legs.
'Pichu!'
(* ̄▽ ̄)((≧︶≦*)
I'll be your Pokémon now, okay? Just don't hurt me!
Evan smiled as he watched the little guy act cute.
"Very good, really good."
After saying this, Evan squatted down, picked up the little guy, and placed it on his shoulders.
As long as you're obedient, everything will go smoothly.
With Pichu now settled, Evan set off again toward the orphanage.
Pichu, perched on Evan's shoulder, felt a bit down.
It never expected to be threatened by a human.
Isn't this just too much?
This is really tough for the little one.
After all, it's still just a child.
Lying on Evan's shoulder, Pichu glanced at him with big, curious eyes.
It didn't know what to say.
Out of nowhere, it had ended up with an owner.
Uh-huh, this feels exhausting.
And this owner seems kind of strict.
Pichu could only hope it would be treated kindly in the future.
...
Evan had no idea what the little guy was thinking.
Carrying Pichu along, Evan soon arrived at the orphanage.
A group of little kids had already gathered all the berries Evan needed earlier.
When they saw Evan return, a group of them quickly ran over.
"Brother Evan, you're back!"
"Eh? Pichu, Pichu!!"
Luna became excited the moment she spotted Pichu on Evan's shoulder.
The second Pichu laid eyes on Luna, it felt a strange sense of dread.
Its little bump started to ache even more.
'Pichu?'
(ΩДΩ)
Why does it feel like this?
*afraid.jpg*
Evan placed the little guy down on the ground.
"Alright."
"Go play for a while."
"I'll make some food for you later."
"Don't run off, okay?"
With that, Evan started getting busy.
He had the kids help deliver the berries to the small workshop.
Then, Evan began the process of making treats from the berries.
Although Evan had told Pichu to go play, the little guy didn't dare wander off.
A group of mischievous kids were eyeing it with too much enthusiasm.
It felt dangerous here.
Better stick close to Evan.
Plus, Evan had so many berries in front of him.
Pichu's mouth watered.
'Pichu?'
Watching Evan work, Pichu became curious.
What is he doing?
"You need to step aside for now."
"I've got a lot to do, and you're too small to help."
"Stay over there."
"Luna, help me clean the juicer."
"Then squeeze the berry juice and store it away."
Evan called out to Luna and the others.
Hearing this, the group of kids quickly got to work.
The small workshop was clean and well-equipped. After a quick rinse, they could start working.
Making energy cubes wasn't as simple as tossing berries into a machine like in the anime.
It required several steps to make; it wasn't that easy.
You had to juice the berries, let the mixture settle, extract the necessary ingredients, mix them in the right proportions, and then process it all to finally create energy cubes.
Some berry juices even needed multiple rounds of processing.
You can imagine how troublesome it was to make energy cubes by hand.
Of course, large companies now used factories for mass production.
But the quality of those mass-produced cubes wasn't great. The cubes used by Elites or Champions were often custom-made by breeders.
No one wanted Pokémon care to be mass-produced, right?
Handmade energy cubes and mass-produced ones were two entirely different things.
