Chapter 172: Chapter 32: Tricks Of The Trade
Continuing their journey to Goldenrod City for Mew's next gym battle, she and her friends are now passing through the seaside city of Pompona.
"It's great to be back near the ocean again, right guys?" Mew replies
Mew nods, "Yeah."
Suddenly, they hear a voice, "That's better. If you keep your back nice and straight, your shoulders won't look so sloppy. If you stand tall like that, people will see that you're a great Pokémon."
The group looks at a boy talking to his Pokemon. A tall, cyan Pokémon with a soft body. Its eyes usually appear scrunched, and it has a jagged upper lip. It has flat arms that are wider towards the tip and four stubby legs at the base of its body. There are two eyespots on its black tail.
"What kind of Pokémon's that?" Tomo asks.
"It's a Wobuffet," Mew says.
She brings out her Pokedex and Dexter says, "Wobbuffet, the Patient Pokemon. A Psychic Type. Wobbuffet like to live in dark areas so they can keep their pitch-black tails concealed. A Female Wobuffet has lipsticks on its lips while the Male doesn't.
The Wobuffet stares up at them with an almost pain expression on its face, as if standing so straight is causing it unnecessary strain
Mew waves and says, "Hello, Wobuffet. You look like a great Pokemon to me."
"Woooooobbbb…" (Tell me your name...) Wobuffet says.
Mew smiles and says, "Okay. I'm Mew, and these are my partners, Pikachu and Eevee."
"Pika Pika," (Hello there.) Pikachu says.
"Eev," (Hi.) Eevee replies.
"And I'm Misty. And these are Togepi and Pichu
"Hi. My name's Brock," Brock says.
"I'm Tomo, and these are my friends, Meloetta and Skwovet," Tomo says.
"Loetta," (Hello.) Meloetta says.
"Skwovet," (Hi there.) Skwovet says.
"I'm Jen and these army friends, Amaura and Snubbull," Jen introduces herself.
Amaura and Snubbull waves hello.
Then the boy says, "Hi! My name's Benny."
Then Mew asks, "What were you doing just now?"
"I was just trying to get my Wobbuffet to look as good as it can look. I'm taking it to the Pokémon Swap Meet," Benny says.
"The Pokémon Swap Meet?" Mew says, confused.
"Yeah," Benny replies, "Every year, trainers come here to the swap meet and if your Pokémon is in really good shape, you'll be able to make a really good trade."
"That makes sense," Mew says.
"It's a great idea," Brock says,
Misty leans to Wobuffet, "I don't know, Benny. I wouldn't get my heart set on trading this Pokémon if I were you."
Brock whispers angrily, "Misty!"
Misty then says, "I mean it seems so well-trained. Why would you want to trade it away?" and sheepishly laughs as she backs away.
"I think Wobbuffet is a nice Pokemon," Mew says.
"Thanks, Misty and Mew," Benny says, "I really loved raising this Wobbuffet, but I can't wait to try raising a different Pokemon."
"Mmm-hmm," Brock replies with a nod, "Then maybe trading is a good idea."
"I'd sure like to see what goes on at the Pokémon Swap Meet," Mew says.
"Could you take us?" Misty asks.
"I like to see it too," Jen says.
"Yeah," Meloetta says.
"Sure. I'm heading over there right now," Benny says.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket is washing up. Jessie is washing her face by the sink with Lickitung watching. James is watering his Victreebel.
"Just remember how well I take care of you the next time you decide to bite the head that waters you," James says.
"Ah! I'm finally clean!" Jessie says.
Then Lickitung licks Jessie's face, and gets throttled by Jessie while Victreebel bites on James' head
Jessie shouts, "I JUST WASHED UP AND NOW I GOT YOUR SLIMY SLURP ALL OVER ME!"
Soon, Meowth rushes over with great news, "Hey, guys! Listen up! Our troubles are over! I just heard there's a gigantic Pokemon Swap Meet going on right here in Pompona!"
"Did you say a Pokemon Swap Meet?" Jessie and James ask, surprised.
Jessie grows excited, "Just think of all the Pokemon, James!"
Even James, "You mean, just think of all the Pokemon we can steal!"
"This is the chance we've been waiting for!" Meowth says.
Team Rocket cheers, "Yeah!"
Soon, Team Rocket runs off to stake out the swap meet.
Meanwhile, Benny escorts Mew and her friends to the swap meet in town square and it's amazing.
"Wow! It's like a big festival!" Mew says, amazed
Suddenly, a young woman says in a panic, "HERE THEY COME!"
"Here who come?" Tomo says, confused.
Everyone look to see a herd of Tauros charing in
"A Tauros stampede!" Jen says, surprised.
The Tauros charge into the town and Trainers are either excited or running away to safety. Some are even chasing them.
Brock walks to one of the citizens and asks, "What's happening?"
"It's a Pompona tradition called The Running of the Tauros," Dude says, "Anyone who's brave enough to touch the horn of a Tauros as they run through town gets a big trophy presented by the mayor! Wish me luck!" and runs over.
"That guy must be crazy!" Misty says.
"There's lots of Pokemon events all week long, but this one's the most dangerous," Benny says.
This has Mew very excited, "I GOTTA TRY THIS!" and runs towards the action.
Misty says, "I don't know if I should be rooting for her or worried for her."
"I think Mew would be fine. After all, she has a Tauros of her own," Brock says.
"Yeah. I know Mew can do it," Jen says.
Mew soon gets in front of the stampeding herd. Mew stands her ground as the Tauros charges towards her. Seeing her chance, Mew not only touches one of the Tauros' horns, she grabs on to it and uses it to pull herself on to Tauros' back.
Mew says to the Tauros, "Hi Tauros. I heard that this is a special year for you."
Tauros talks to Mew.
"I see. So it's good for you Tauros to be able to run across town and get some good exercise as a herd," Mew says.
Then Tauros continues speaking to Mew.
"Thanks. Although, people might think I'm either brave or crazy to ride on a Tauros back," Mew says.
Soon the Tauros herd continues running, leaving Misty and the others behind.
Brock smiles and says, "Told you."
"Yeah. I was a little silly for worrying," Misty says.
Amazing, Benny says, "Wow. Mew must be an amazing trainer to not only touch the horn of a Tauros, but also ride one."
"Yeah. Mew is great," Tomo says.
"And really loves Pokemon and cares for them," Jen says.
"I agree," Brock says, "But we better catch up to her."
"Yeah. We don't want to lose her," Misty says.
Soon, Misty and the others follow the Tauros who are charging to a stadium.
Announcer: Here they come, ladies and gentlemen! The Tauros are entering the stadium and we're ready for what promises to be another action packed afternoon of rough and tumble, one one one Tauros competition!
And soon a battle begin between two Tauros smashing horns together
Announcer: And right from the get-go, we're seeing an amazing display of dual Tackle attacks!
The trainer calls out, "Go!"
Both Tauros lock horns, but one gets forced down by the other
Announcer: The match is over! Fernando's Tauros has now defeated an unprecedented five challengers!
"Wow. That is so cool," Mew says, and then brings out Tauros Pokeball, "I'm sure my Tauros would love this."
"Yeah. You and Tauros should battle," Jen says.
"Yeah. Your Tauros can take them," Tomo says
"Sure. Wish me luck," Mew says.
"You can do it, Mew!" Jen cheers.
"We're rooting for you," Mew says.
Back on the battlefield, the trainer and his Tauros have defeated more opponents.
Announcer: He's done it! Fernando has defeated an amazing ten opponents! There doesn't seem to be any more challengers willing to face him, so it looks like Fernando and his Tauros will retire undefeated.
Suddenly, Mew calls out, "Hold on! I want to have a go!"
Announcer: Wait! There seems to be one more challenger!
Mew calls out, "I'm Mew from Pallet Town, and I like to challenge you and your Taruos to a battle!"
"Bring it on, kid! We're ready!" Fernando says as his Tauros brace for battle.
Then Mew throws her Pokeball and calls out, "Tauros, I choose you!"
Mew's Tauros enters the battlefield.
Mew calls out, "Tauros, Take Down attack, now!"
Then Fernando calls out, "Tauros, Take Down attack!"
Both Tauros charge and lock horns.
Mew calls out, "Hang in there, Tauros!"
"Don't give up, Tauros!" Fernando calls out.
Meanwhile, Benny watches Mew's battle on the screen, "Hey, Wobbuffet, look! It's Mre! She looks the same in person as she does on TV."
"Wobbbbb!" (She does.) Wobbuffet says.
Elsewhere, Team Rocket are working undercover to stake out the potential Pokemon to steal as they sell food to the people
Jessie calls out, "Get your ice-cold soda! Snow cones, Sushi on a stick!"
Then James calls out, "Hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, bento box lunches!"
"How's business?" Jessie and James ask, walking past each other.
Jessie says to James, "I saw a nice Marill and a great Quagsire."
And James says, "I spotted a stunning Stantler and a super Sentret."
"Pretty soon we'll have every Pokemon we want," Jessie says.
Back at the stadium, both Tauros aren't giving an inch. Soon, Fernando's Tauros pushes Mew's Tauros back a bit.
Fernando calls out, "We can't let her beat us! Keep pushing with all your might!"
Fernando's Tauros keep pushing.
Then Mew calls out, "Let's win this one, Tauros! Take Down, now!"
Mew's Tauros starts pushing Fernando's Tauros back, and finally tosses it into the air, and it lands on the ground in defeat.
Fernando is shocked, "It can't be!"
Announcer: What an incredible upset! The challenger from Pallet Town has defeated Fernando!
Later, Mew and the others begin to enjoy the festival, after receiving a trophy from the mayor for the Running of the Tauros event.
One trainer says, "I guarantee, no matter how hard you look, you're not gonna find a Quagsire as shiny as this one."
Another trainer says, "Well, you're not gonna find a Sentret that can bounce up and down like this one can, either."
"Sounds like the trainers here like to brag about their Pokemon at least as much as they like to trade 'em," Misty says.
And Brock says, "Well, it takes so much work to raise a Pokemon, I don't blame em for bragging a little."
"Yeah," Mew says.
Soon, Mew and her friends notice a trade is happening now.
A boy trainer asks, "You wanna trade for my Marill?"
A female trainer then asks, "I'll trade you my favorite Ledyba for it."
The trade machine operator says, "If you're both free to trade, please place your Pokéballs on the transfer ports."
Both Pokemon do just that, and the transfer commences.
"The Pokemon exchange is now complete," The operator says.
The female trainer says, "Take good care of my Ledyba, okay?"
"Okay!" The trainer says.
Soon, the trainers part ways.
Meanwhile, Benny and his Wobbuffet show up.
Benny then has an idea, "Hey, Wobbuffet, would it be okay with you if I traded you to Mew for her Tauros? She oughta be around here somewhere."
Soon, he spots Mew and the others, "Hey! I'm gonna ask her right now!"
But stop to see a bunch of trainers gathering around Mew.
One trainer says, "That was an awesome battle!
"I gotta hand it to you, Mew, your Tauros is the bomb!" Fernando says.
Another trainer says, "It's the strongest Tauros ever!"
"Well, I don't know about ever," Mew says, sheepishly.
One trainer asks, "Mew, how about trading it to me for this great Onix?"
But Fernando says, "This Nidoqueen's super awesome!"
Another trainer says, "Mew, I'll trade you my Rhyhorn!"
Mew calls out, "Wait a second, guys! Thanks a lot, but there's no way I'm trading my Tauros for any Pokemon!"
That catches the trainers by surprise, "What? You're not trading?"
"I don't believe it," Fernando says.
Mew apologized, "I'm sorry, but my Pokemon are too important for me to trade away."
Hearing what Mew says, Benny says, "I guess asking her to trade is out of the question." But smiles, "But I can understand why."
"Wob." (I suppose.) Wobbuffet replies.
Soon, Benny spots a trainer with a Scyther walking by.
Benny walks for him and asks, "Uh, excuse me. That's a really good Scyther you got there. Would you like to trade it for my Wobbuffet?"
But the trainer says, "For that Wobbuffet? No thanks." and walks away.
"I hate to say this, Wobbuffet, but this may take a while," Benny says.
"Wob," (Perhaps.) Wobbuffet replies.
Benny sits down and says, "I know you're a great Pokemon, Wobbuffet, but it'll be tough to convince another trainer you are."
"Wob," (Might.) Wobbuffet says.
"Hey, Benny!" Mew calls out. "Looks like you haven't found anybody to trade with yet."
"Not so far, but I know I will, sooner or later," Benny answers.
"Wob," (Yeah.) Wobbuffet says.
"There's so many people and so many Pokemon here, there's gotta be one trainer who'd like to swap with you," Brock says.
Then Misty says, "Maybe we can help you find somebody to trade with."
"That'd be great! Thanks!" Mew says.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket set their plan into action.
Jessie calls out, "Step right up, everyone! Introducing the latest and greatest Pokemon exchange machine ever!"
And James says, "Not only does it provide super swift swapping, but as an extra, added bonus, it raises the level of each Pokemon in the process!"
All the Pokemon gather and are excited to try it out. Soon, two trainers place their Pokeballs on the machine.
"Good. Now, step back," Jessie says
"Initiating exchange!" James says, and pulls the switch.
And with that, the machine swapped the Pokemon.
"Excellent! The exchange was successful," Jessie says.
The trainers start clamoring again, looking to be next.
Jessie chuckles "Now, now."
"Everybody will have a turn," James says.
Inside the 'machine' Meowth is sitting on the Pokeballs.
Meowth laughs, "This is our scammiest scam evah, cause dem trainers think dey're swapping Pokemon with each other, but I'm really swapping dere Pokemon for empty Pokéballs!
"Get your Pokéballs ready!" Jessie says.
And James says, "This won't take long!"
James says, "You'll all get your chance!"
Meanwhile, the group decides to split up to find a trainer to trade Wobbuffet.
Misty looks around, "There must be somebody around here who'd like to trade for a Wobuffet."
Soon, Psyduck comes out of the Pokemon and pops out of Misty's backpack
"I suggest you stay inside your Pokéball, Psyduck, or you might give me ideas for trading," Misty says.
Soon, a trainer walks to Misty, "Look! It's a Psyduck!"
Another trainer asks, "That one's cool!"
"You don't really think Psyduck is cool do you?" Misty asks, surprised.
Soon, three more trainers came up.
One trainer says, "That look on its face is intriguing."
Another trainer says, "Like it's thinking about something serious."
"That's some brain!" The other trainer says.
Misty questions, "Psyduck has a brain?"
Soon, the trainers begin asking to trade Psyduck for one of their Pokemon.
"Misty panics, "I'm not trading now so just leave me alone!"
She runs away and stops by a tree, "Maybe you're worth something after all, Psyduck."
Meanwhile, Tomo and Jen are helping Benny.
Tomo walks up to a girl, "Excuse me. How'd you like to trade that Sentret of yours for this fine, upstanding Wobbuffet here?"
"Are you serious?" The trainer asks.
"Wob," (They are.) Wobbuffet answers.
But the trainer says, "Forget it."
"But, I…" Benny says.
"Wob," (Shame.) Wobbuffet says,
Jen turns to see another trainer, "Excuse me, would you like to trade one of your Pokemon for a Wobbuffet?"
"No thank you," Another trainer says.
"Okay," Jen says.
Snubbull snuffs around and realizes, "Snubbull." (Meowth.)
"What's wrong, Snubbull?" Jen asks.
Snubbull answers, "Snubbull Snubbull Snubb Snubbull." (Meowth is here, which means Team Rocket is here.)
"Really?" Jen asks.
Snubbull answers and walks away as she gestures to Jen and Amurua to follow.
"Okay, we'll follow you," Jen says, as she and Amaura follow.
Meanwhile, Brock talks to another trainer, "My my. What a fine Stantler."
"Well, it oughta be, I raised it myself," The trainer says.
"Obviously, you could only trade it for an equally fine Wobbuffet," Brock says.
The trainer becomes confused, "Huh?"
"As you can see, it's in mint condition," Brock says.
Then Tomo says, "It's got very responsive handling."
"Wob," (I do.) Wobbuffet says.
"A Wobbuffet?" The trainer says, confused.
"Just imagine the looks on other trainers' faces when they see you with this little baby," Brock says.
"We'll even throw in a 90 Day Warranty on parts and labor!" Tomo says.
Then the trainer says, "With an offer like that, how I can refuse!"
The group cheers.
Then Tomo says, "Shall we go and make the exchange now?"
Benny and the trainer take their Pokemon to the trading machine.
"It won't be long now till Benny has a new Pokemon," Tomo says.
"Yeah," Brock says.
Meanwhile, Mew, Pikachu and Eevee are looking for someone to trade for Wobbuffet.
"Hmm, I wonder if there's someone who can trade," Mew says.
Suddenly, Mew hears a familiar voice, "Step right up and get yourself a very unique Pokemon that hasn't been discovered yet."
"I know that voice," Mew says.
She turns to see a familiar salesman from the St. Anne incident.
"I'll happily trade you these lovely Pokemon for some cash. You'll never see any Pokemon like these," The man says.
"Hey!" Mew calls out.
"Yes," The man says.
He flinches to see Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee glaring at the man.
The man sheepishly asks, "Uh can I ask you miss?"
"Yes. Can you explain why you want to trade Pokemon for cash?" Mew questions.
"Well, you see, I uh," The man says nervously.
Mew turns her head and calls out, "Excuse me, there's a man who is trying to sell Pokemon for money, and I'm sure it's not a trading booth either!"
And with that, the con man gathers up his belongings and dashes off.
"Come back here you con artist!" Mew shouts and chases after him.
Meanwhile Benny is ready to trade his Pokemon for another one.
Wobbuffet says, "Wobbbb!" (So long)
Benny calls Wobbuffet into his Pokeball and proceeds with the exchange.
"Now all we have to do is put them in the exchange machine," The trainer says.
"Right," The trainer says.
Then Benny and the trainer place their Pokeball on the machine to make the trade. But as the trade is about to take place, the other trainer notices a trainer with a Hoothoot.
"Fine. And now, I'll make the exchange," The operator says.
But the trainer quickly says, "I change my mind! I just remembered, I really wanted a flying Pokemon! Later," And hurries off.
Benny calls out, "Wait! Come back!"
Meanwhile, Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee are chasing the con man.
"Get back here you con artist!" Mew calls out.
"Pika Pika!" (Stop right there!) Pikachu shouts.
"Eevee Eevee!" (You can't run forever!) Eevee shouts.
Hearing the noises catches Team Rocket's attention
"That sounds like…" Jessie says.
James notices, "It's the twerpette."
"What's going…" Jessie asks.
But the chase sends Jessie flying into the air as Mew and her Pokemon pounce on the con artist. Jessie then lands on the ground right at the exchange machine Benny is at. One of her Pokeballs lands on the machine and the exchange activates without Jessie noticing, but Benny has.
"Jessie rubs her forehead, "My forehead!"
Then turns to see her Pokeball, "I'll take my Pokéball back, now, thank you very much!" and runs off.
"Hey, Miss, I... " Benny calls out, but she's gone.
Then Benny picks up the Pokeball, confused.
Soon, Jessie returns to James.
James asks, "Are you alright, Jessie?"
"Just sore in the head, but I'm good," Jessie answers.
Then Meowth rushes over to them, "Hey, guys! We're in big trouble! The word's out on the street that our machine's a phony!"
Turning, Team Rocket find themselves facing very angry trainers.
Jessie yelps, "Uh oh!"
"I think we've got…" James nervously says.
"Angry customers!" Meowth says.
One trainer confronts them, "Hey! The Pokéballs your rotten machine gave us back turned out to be totally empty!"
"I want my Pokéball!" Another trainer says.
A third one says, "You can't get away with stealing our Pokéballs!
Jessie: (pulls off her glasses)
Prepare for trouble, it's true we've been stealing!
James: (whips off his own glasses)
Make it double, it beats wheeling and dealing.
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation!
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation!
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love!
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie:
Jessie!
James:
James!
Jessie:
Team Rocket, stealing Pokéballs at the speed of light!
James:
Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight!
Meowth:
Meowth, that's right!
Sitting on the con artist, Mew says, shocked, "It's Team Rocket!"
Soon, Jen, Snubbull, and the others arrive on the scene.
"What kind of stunt are you trying to pull this time?!" Misty demands.
Soon, the Meowth balloon flies overhead while Team Rocket laughs.
Then Jessie says, "The stunt's already been pulled. We used our fake Pokéball exchange machine to exchange full Pokéballs for empty ones."
"Give back those Pokemon right now!" Jen shouts.
And the trainer says, "And if they don't, we're gonna take em back!"
"Yeah!" Everyone agrees.
"Oh, yeah?" Meowth says, and grabs a device.
He then fires a rope ring around the crowd, binding them. But because Tomo and Jen are shorter, they remain free.
"You creeps!" Mew angrily says, still having the con man pinned down.
Now, all that's left to do is suck up the rest of their Pokemon," Jessie says.
"Here we go!" James says, and presses a button to activate a vacuum.
Then the vacuum begins to suck the pokeballs.
Misty cries out, "Mew, do something!"
"There's gotta be a way to stop em!" Mew says, trying to remembers the running of the Tauros, ""Maybe the Tauros can stop em!"
She then calls out to the trainers, "Everybody, release your Tauros!"
Everyone then releases their Tauros. Even Mew releases hers. All the Tauros come out of their Pokeballs.
Mew and the trainers call out, "Tauros, use Take Down attack!"
Soon, the Tauros charge towards Team Rocket, causing them to panic. The Tauros rams at Team Rocket and sends them flying at the balloon. That knock the sack of Pokeballs out of the balloon and send them flying
Down on the ground, the trainer calls out his Scyther, "Scyther, cut the rope!"
"Good job, Scyther. Thanks," Mew says.
The trainers get up and gather their Pokeballs.
Mew runs to Benny, "Benny, are you okay?"
"Yeah, thanks. I was just making sure those three didn't get my Pokéball," Benny says.
However, a new problem arises to see that all the Pokeballs in the sack are empty
"The Pokéballs are empty!" Tomo says, shocked.
"They tricked us!" Misty says.
Mew grows angry, "That Team Rocket! They must still have the real ones!" and Mew makes sure the Con artist is restrained.
Jen turns to Snubbull, "Snubbull, can you sniff Team Rocket."
"Snubbull," (Of course.) Snubbull says.
Snubbull begins sniffing the air and soon gets the scent, "Snubbull." (Follow me.) and hurried off.
"Follow Snubbull," Mew says.
"Yeah!" Everyone says.
Meanwhile, in the woods, Team Rocket opens the sack containing the real filled Pokeballs.
"Well, our clever little swap and drop plan went off without a hitch," Meowth says.
"Swapping the real Pokéballs we stole with fake ones was a fabulous idea," Jessie says.
And James says, "And, when we dealt them out while we were being blown away, we fooled them yet again!"
"First, we cause trouble, and then we cause double!" Jessie says and laughs.
Suddenly, they Snubbull's voice, "Snubbull Snubb." (There they are.)
"Good work, Snubbull," Jen says.
The group look ahead to see Mew and the others, led by Jen and Snubbull.
"Team Rocket!" Brock calls out.
"Hold it right there!" Misty says.
And Mew calls out, "We know you have those Pokéballs, now give em back!"
"It's the twerp patrol," Jessie says.
"They got a lot of noive comin' out here and tryin' to deprive us of Pokemon we put so much work into stealing!" Meowth says.
"How dare they!" James says.
"Well, we're not giving up those Pokéballs without a battle!" Jessie says and calls out her Pokeball, "Go, Lickitung!"
Then Mew calls out, "Chikorita, I choose you!"
Chikoirta comes out of the Pokeball. However, when Jessie expects Lickitung, she ends up with Wobbuffet.
"Wooooobbbbbb-buh!" (Let's battle.) Wobbuffet says.
"I didn't know Team Rocket had a Wobbuffet," Tomo says, confused.
However, Mew says, "Wait, isn't that Benny's Wobbuffet?"
"You sure?" Misty asks.
"I'm sure of it," Mew says.
"I don't understand how…" Jessie says, confused. However, she soon realizes, "Unless…" and Jessie remembers what happens when she lands next to the machine. Jessie says in thought, "It must've happened with the real machine! So now this Wobbuffet belongs to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee."
"Wobbuh!" (That's right.) Wobbuffet says.
Jessie loses her temper, "Alright, you blobby, little Wobbuffet, attack those twerps!"
"Don't be mean, Jessie!" Mew calls out.
Jessie shouts at Mew, "Who asked you?!"
James reads up on Wobbuffet, "Wobbuffet, The Patient Pokemon, Yada yada yada... is unable to initiate attacks!""
Jessie falls over in disbelief and screams in anger, "What's Team Rocket supposed to do with a patient Pokemon that won't attack anybody?!"
"Hurry, Mew! We have to do something to try to get those Pokéballs back!" Misty says.
"Yeah!" Mew says, then calls out to Wobbuffet, "Sorry to do this, Wobbuffet." And calls out to her Pokemon, "Chikorita, Vine Whip attack!"
Soon, Chikorita's attack lands, but seems unscathed.
"Dat sure is one patient Wobbuffet!" Meowth says, impressed
" It's a good thing I'm patient with you!" Jessie says, and grabs James' book, "This thing must have one attack! Oh! There is one!"
"Quick, Chikorita, use your Vine Whip attack again!" Mew calls out.
Chikorita performs a Vine Whip attack.
Jessie calls out, "Wobbuffet, Counter attack!"
Wobbuffet performs the attack and the Vine Whip attacks, bounces off and strikes at Chikorita.
Jen and Misty cry out, "Chikorita!"
"Nifty!" James says, impressed.
Then Mew says, "Okay, Chikorita, try your Razor Leaf, now!"
Chikorita tries again.
But Mew calls out, "Wobbuffet, use your Counter attack once again!"
Wobbuffet performs the attack again, and it bounces right at Chikorita.
"Chikorita!" Mew cries out.
Team Rocket cheers.
"That was marvelous!" Jessie says.
Wobbuffet says, "Wooob," (Thanks!)
"I had no idea that Wobbuffet could have a Counter attack that strong," Brock says.
Mew calls back Chikorita, "Chikorita, return, now!" and returns Chikorita to her Pokeball.
Mew turns to Pikachu and Eevee, " Alright guys, let's do it."
Pikachu and Eevee come into the battle.
Mew calls out, "Pikachu, Eevee, use your Thunderbolt, now!"
Pikachu and Eevee perform the attack, and Wobbuffet uses Counter. The electric attack spreads everywhere and Team Rocket and Wobbuffet get zapped. And soon, Team Rocket are blasting off.
They scream, "Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!"
"WOBBBBB!" (WHOA!) Wobbuffet screams.
Soon, they're gone.
Mew cheers, "Alright! We did it!"
Pikachu and Eevee are pleased.
Later, as the sun sets, Mew and the others head back to town with the sack of Pokeballs.
Mew calls out, "Hey! We got all your Pokéballs back!"
Soon, all the trainers gather and retrieve all their Pokeballs.
"Looks like they're all happy," Misty says.
"Yeah," Brock says.
Just then, Benny calls out, "Mew! Misty! Brock! Tomo! Jen! Guys!"
Soon, Benny arrives on the scene with Jessie's previous Pokemon, Lickitung.
"It's Benny!" Misty says.
"I thought you were trading your Wobbuffet for a Stantler," Jen asks.
"So did it, but it turns out I ended up trading it for this great Lickitung instead," Benny says.
Then Lickitung turns and licks Benny's face, making him laugh and giggle.
Then Benny says, "I traded with a lady who had glasses and long hair. I want to find her and thank her for her trading with me before she leaves town. Have you seen her around?
The group turns to each other, realizing the lady they're talking about.
Then Benny says, "Guess it's too late to say goodbye and ask her to take good care of Wobbuffet for me."
"She probably left right after she traded with you," Misty says.
"Yeah," Benny says, and turns around, "If you're out there, thank you very much for trading me your Lickitung! Please take good care of Wobbuffet! I'll take good care of Lickitung! I hope you'll always remember me, Wobbuffet, cause I'll never forget you!"
"I know Benny's happy with Lickitung, but I bet he'll miss Wobbuffet, too," Misty says.
"No matter how happy you are, it's always sad to say goodbye to a real friend," Brock says.
"Yeah," Mew says.
Just then, Benny remembers, "Oh yeah" and turns to Mew, "I almost forgot. Officer Jenny arrested the con artist you caught. She asked if I could give these to you." and Benny brings out five Pokeballs. "These are what the con artist has in his possession, but she suspects that you'll be able to take care of them."
Then Mew takes the Pokeballs," Thank you."
Mew then turns to her friends, "Hey guys, maybe each of you would like to take care of one."
"Are you sure?" Misty asks.
"I'm sure. I know you'll take care of each," Mew says.
"Okay. As long as you're okay," Brock says.
Then Tomo, Jen, Misty, and Brock take a Pokeball, and Mew takes the last Pokeball.
"I wonder what Pokemon are inside," Brock wonders.
"I don't know, but I like to see for myself," Misty says.
Tomo then says, "I'll go first."
Tomo tosses his Pokeball and the Pokemon comes out. It's a bipedal crocodilian Pokémon with a mostly red body and a white stomach and face. Its body contains a small flame sac, two yellow tufts on top of its head; should Fuecoco get excited, more tufts of flame may emerge, black eyes and triangular nostrils, and its mouth has three teeth, with one in the upper jaw and two in the lower jaw. It has stubby arms and large feet with two black toes on each foot, yellow square scales on its stomach, back, tail, and the soles of its feet.
"Fueco," The Pokemon calls out.
"Wow. That looks cool," Tomo says, and picks up the Pokemon, "Hi."
"My turn," Jen says, and throws the Pokeball.
Jen's new Pokemon is a white duckling-like Pokémon. It has a yellow beak and blue eyes. It has teal webbed feet and a large teal coif-like crest that covers its head, with a feathery tuft in the front and a white curvy line shaped like a wave.
"Aww, it's so cute," Jen says, and pet the duck Pokemon.
The Pokemon says, "Quax." with glee.
"I like to see what my Pokemon is," Misty says, and throws her Pokeball.
Her Pokemon comes out. To Misty's surprise, this Pokemon looks like a Digglet, but it's a long, white Pokémon that seems to be perpetually buried within the earth, leaving only its head and part of its body visible. It has beady dark blue eyes and a large, round, pink nose.
"Wow. It looks like a Diglett, but it's longer.
"Wiglett," The Pokemon says.
Brock then has his turn, "Now it's my turn."
Brock releases his Pokemon. It's a crustacean Pokémon. It is primarily orange in color, with a cream underbelly and pink cheeks that can glow red. Its stony, armored carapace has a rugged texture, with three roughly pentagonal shapes protruding from the top. Its eyes are supported by stalks extending from inside its shell. Its mouth is large and has rectangular "teeth" resembling battlements, and eight appendages, with claws on its two front-most limbs. Black fur-like bristles protrude from between its eyes and cover its joints.
"That's cool. This Pokemon looks amazing," Brock says.
He kneels to it, "Hello. It's nice to meet you.
The Pokemon turns to Brock and greets Brock.
"Now it's my turn," Mew says.
And at last, Mew throws her Pokeball to reveal her Pokemon. Her new Pokemon is a quadrupedal feline Pokémon covered in pale green fur. The fur's composition is similar to that of plants. It has green ears with pale green insides, a tuft of fur on the front of its chest and a green marking around its pink eyes and nose that resemble leaves. When its mouth is open, two pointed teeth can be seen in its upper jaw. It has a fluffy tail and small paws with pink paw pads underneath and no visible toes.
"Aww, how cute," Mew says, and kneels to the Pokemon.
She smiles and says, "Hello. It's nice to meet you. My name is Mew, what's your name?"
The Pokemon meows, "Sprigatito."
"Hi Sprigatito, it's nice to meet you," Mew says.
"What about the other Pokemon?" Brock asks.
"Fue," (Fuecoco.) The Pokemon Tomo has is.
Then Jen's new Pokemon says, "Quax." (Quaxly.)
The Pokemon Brock has clip claws, meaning, "Klawf."
Then Misty's Pokemon says, "Wiglett," (Wigglet)
"Okay, Tomo, your Pokemon is called Fuecoco. Jen's Pokemon is called Qwaxly. Misty's Pokemon's name is Wiglett. And Brock, your Pokemon's name is Klawf," Mew explains.
"It's nice to meet you," Misty says.
Jen hugs Qwaxly, "You're so cute."
"And you're so cool," Tomo says.
Klawf snuggles against Brock.
Mew's new Sprigatito climbs on Mew's shoulder and snuggles her.
Well, the Pokemon Swap Meet has become an interesting one they won't forget. Mew and her friends gain some new friends, and Benny traded Wobbuffet with Lickitung, even if it was an accident. And it turns out, everyone is happy. Well, not everyone is fully happy.
Elsewhere, Team Rocket are stuck on a tree branch high above in pain and defeat.
Jessie groans, "Well, Wobuffet, you're one of us now."
James grunts, "A proud member of Team Rocket."
"We'll beat them kids someday, but till den ya gotta be patient," Meowth says.
Wobbuffet says, "Wooobbbbbbb!" (No problem!)
Jessie groans in frustration.
