Pokemon Journeys (My Version)

Chapter 195: Chapter 51: Type Casting

Mew and her friends continue on their journey to Ecruteak gym in Ecruteak City. And soon, they come across a large river, and it looks too wide and deep to win.

"How do we get across this river, Brock?" Tomo asks.

Looking at the guide book, Brock says, "The map says there's a bridge nearby."

Soon, the group hears something and looks to see the bridge is actually under construction as the men work on it.

Mew calls out, and asks, "Uh, excuse me, sir. Is there a bridge near here?

"It was right where you're standing before the typhoon hit last month and the river washed it away," The worker says.

Everyone is shocked to hear the news.

"Washed it away?!" Misty asks

"Yep, we lost every bridge on the river," The worker says. "But I got my construction team here fast and we started to rebuild this one first. We should have this one back up in about six months."

Everyone is even more distressed hearing the estimated time it may take to fix the bridge.

Meanwhile, up in the sky, Team Rocket searches the forest below.

Jessie spots the river, "There it is! I think we should go straight up the river."

"And so do da cops," Meowth says.

Jessie turns her head, "James, what's taking so long? Aren't those potatoes ready yet?"

It's revealed that James is holding some potatoes on a skewer over the fire providing the hot air balloon with hot air.

"Not yet, Jess," James answers.

Jessie asks, "Can't you hurry it up a little?"

"Hey, maybe dey'll cook faster if we toin da fire higher," Meowth says.

And James says, "Great idea."

James does just that, but the entire balloon disintegrates as a result, resulting in the team plummets to the ground with a boom.

"That was a great idea," Jessie says, sarcastically.

"Are the spuds done?" Meowth asks.

"Well done," James says, holding the burnt spuds.

Back at the river, Mew and the others are trying to find a way to get across.

"How are we going to cross the river?" Molly asks.

Misty says, "There must be some way to get across."

Soon, Pikachu spots something, "Pika Pika!" (Look over there!)

Mew and the others look to see a fisherman.

"We're in luck!" Mew says.

Soon, Mew and her friends rush over to get the fisherman's attention.

Mew calls out, "Excuse me! We're Pokémon trainers and we're trying to get across!

"Could you take us over in your boat, please?" Misty calls out.

The fisherman calls out, "Be glad to! But before I do, maybe one of you trainers could catch me a Sudowoodo!"

"A Sudowoodo?" Jen questions.

"Yes. The Sudowoodo is a very rare kind of Pokémon. They say you can find them up on that mountain there, but I have never seen one. A whole group of Pokémon trainers might have a better chance catching a Sudowoodo than me," the fisherman says.

Mew look at her Pokedex.

"Let's see what Dexter says," Misty says.

Mew then looks at the picture to see what Sudowoodo looks like. Sudowoodo is a Pokémon that has a brown, log-shaped body with yellow spots. It has short legs with toeless feet, and thin forelegs with three green spheres at the ends of its fingers. It has a forked "branch" on top of its head, which is shorter on the female than on the male. Despite its appearance, Sudowoodo's composition is closer to a rock than a plant. Originally, it was incorrectly believed to be a Grass-type.

Dexter says, "Sudowoodo, the Imitation Pokémon. This rare Pokémon hides in trees to avoid capture."

"Sudowoodo looks pretty interesting," Misty says.

Then Mew says to the fisherman, "If we bring back a Sudowoodo, will you take us to the other side?"

"Yes! You have my word on it," The fisherman says.

"Well, let's go find one, then!" Mew says.

"Right!" Brock says.

"Let's go!" Mew says.

And Misty says, "Come on!"

Mew and the others rush off to the forest to find a Sudowoodo, however, unknown to them, Team Rocket has listenin on the whole conversation.

"You hear dat?" Meowth asks.

"If we find a Sudowoodo, the old man will take us across!" James says.

Then Jessie says, "And if they're as rare as they say they are, a Sudowoodo would be a perfect present for the boss."

"Alright, it's Sudowoodo time," James says.

Then Team Rocket dash off to put their plan into motion.

Meanwhile, Mew and her friends head to the mountain to find Sudowoodo.

"This isn't gonna be easy," Mew says.

"This forest is unbelievably dense," Misty says.

Then Psyduck pops out of his Pokeball and stares with confusion at his surroundings, "Psy...duck?" (Where...am I?)

"Speaking of things that are dense…" Misty replies.

Then looks at her Pokemon, "Psyduck, you can help us look for Sudowoodo, too."

Psyduck then runs ahead and soon finds a Sudowoodo, holding tree branches to hide itself. Psyduck stares at it, and nervously the Sudowoodo grins at it. It steps sideways, but Psyduck moves along with it, confused by its appearance of the walking, talking tree. The dance continues back and forth, side to side as Sudowoodo tries to get out of Psyduck's gaze.

Confused, Psyduck rushes to Misty in a panic.

"What is it, Psyduck? What's the matter?" Misty asks.

Psyduck points to where he has seen Sudowoodo, but the disguise fools Misty, making her think it's just a tree.

That's just a bunch of trees. We're not looking for trees, we're looking for a Pokémon called a Sudowoodo," Misty says.

Suddenly, the Sudowoodo makes a nose, distracting Misty long enough to move.

But Misty spots it, "Guys, look! A Sudowoodo!"

Everyone rushes over to see it, but Sudowoodo bolts away in terror.

Mew then chases after it, "Come back!"

Sudowoodo breaks right, but Mew rushes ahead, not knowing where it went. She continues until she finds a clearing full of stumps.

"Now where'd that Sudowoodo go to?" Mew wonders.

"I don't see it.

Soon, the group hears something, "That's impossible! None of the research papers back that up!"

Everyone turns to see two people in lab coats. One man and one woman.

"Well maybe if you spent a little less time reading research and a little more time DOING research, you'd know it IS possible!" The woman says.

But the man questions, "Then you're saying every single report is wrong!?"

"I'm saying there's a possibility they are!" The woman shouts.

Then the man shouts back, "Then you must be smarter than me! And every other expert who agrees with me!"

"I don't know about the other experts but I'm definitely smarter than you are!" The woman says.

Mew and the others step in.

Mew calls out, "Hey! Hey!"

"I'm sure you two didn't come all the way up here to argue," Misty says.

"We're looking for something," The woman says.

"So are we!" Tomo says.

Then Jen says, "We're looking for a Sudowoodo!"

The girl says, "Well, that's quite a coincidence, because we were just arguing about Sudowoodo."

"Are you Pokemon trainers?" Molly asks.

"Oh, no. We're up here doing some field studies for a Pokémon research paper we're working on. My name is Pierre," The man, Pierre says.

And the woman says, "And my name's Marie."

Then Mew introduces herself, "My name is Mew.

"I'm Misty," Misty says.

Then Brock says, "My name's Brock, pleased to meet you."

"Hello. My name is Molly," Molly says.

"I'm Tomo," Tomo says.

"And I'm Jen," Jen says.

"He and I are researching this habitat and focusing on the Sudowoodo that live here," Marie says.

Then Pierre says, "I'm hoping to prove to my colleague here that the research is correct when it indicates that Sudowoodo is definitely a rock type."

That catches the group by surprise.

"Sudowoodo is a rock type? Tomo says, surprised.

That's pretty hard to believe," Misty says.

"You're right. Rock Type Pokemon are usually rough and rocky like Geodude, Gravaler, Golem, and Onix," Mew says.

"Yeah. It looks a lot like a tree," Molly says.

"You're right. Sudowoodo is more like…" Mew says.

And Misty says, "More like a grass Pokémon. I can't believe it's a rock type."

"I agree with you, Misty," Mari says, "I can't believe it either, but all the experts claim the Sudowoodo's a rock type. But when my colleague opens a book, he shuts his mind to the possibility the experts are WRONG. He chooses to ignore eyewitness accounts of Sudowoodo using fire attacks which clearly indicates we need to look for some more answers."

"We already have the answers!" Pierre says.

Marie says, "You can believe the books, but I think finding out first hand is always the best way!

Brock grabs Marie by the hand and is lovestruck, "Exactly right! Yours is the first hand I've held in a long time and I can tell you from personal experience you can't find this in a book! Maybe you and I can do some research in the field of love?"

Misty then grabs Brock by the ear and drags him away as she grumbles, "In that field your position is left out."

"Well then, the best way to understand Sudowoodo is to find it and see if it can tell us. And I know just the Pokemon to help us," Mew says, and brings out her Pokeball.

She then calls out, "Noctowl, go find a Sudowoodo!"

Noctowl comes out and flies off while the others continue searching with Marie and Pierre by foot.

Marie explains, "There've been reports of Sudowoodo that look like plum trees and cherry trees and oak trees, too. Their leaves even change color like real trees."

"Wow! They MUST be Grass types!" Molly says.

"I'm not sure. When we saw it, it looked like it was just holding tree branches and hiding within the trees," Mew says.

Then Pierre says, "You are correct. Sudowoodo gathers branches to look like trees.

"Guess you're right. We didn't notice until it started moving," Jen says.

Soon, Noctowl calls out, making the groups look up.

Mew calls out, "Noctowl! Did you find a Sudowoodo?!"

Noctowl flies ahead.

"Come on, let's go!" Mew says.

The group follows Noctowl and they soon see something ahead Noctowl when it stops.

Mew is the first to notice, "Look! There it is!" Then calls back Noctowl, "Okay, Noctowl, we'll take it from here!"

Hearing the voices, the Sudowoodo the group and flees.

Mew throws her Pokeball and calls out, "Chikorita, I choose you!"

Chikortia comes out of her Pokeball and chases after Sudowoodo. Suddenly, everyone stops to notice Sudowoodo is doing something unusual.

"Is Sudowoodo using Vine Whip?" Marie asks.

"Yeah, sure looks like it.," Brock says.

Then Misty says, "Maybe Sudowoodo's really a grass Pokémon after all."

"Actually, that's a piece of vine," Mew says

Sudowoodo throws the vine at Chikorita, Chikorita, swats it away and it lands in Marie's hands.

"Looks like you're right. Sudowoodo must've picked this up in the forest," Maire says.

"Yeah. But at least it has good taste in vines," Brock says.

Then Sudowoodo throws what looks like leaves at Chikorita.

"That's a Razor Leaf!" Jen says, surprised.

Chikorita knocks the leaves away.

Mariw grabs one to see that it's dead leaves, "Maybe, but these leaves are dried up.

"Wow. Why would he use those?" Brock asks.

Then Misty asks, "Why would a Pokemon use dried leaves for a Razor Leaf attack?"

Mew then calls out, "Now, Chikorita, use your Vine Whip attack!"

Chikorita lets out the attack and hits Sudowoodo.

"Now that was a real Vine Whip," Tomo says.

Suddenly, Sudowoodo uses a REAL Vine Whip and nails Chikorita, shocking everyone. Mew soon notices something off.

"That one looked real, too!" Misty says.

And Marie says, "Maybe Sudowoodo's a grass Pokémon after all!"

"Why, it... It... It can't be! It's a rock Pokémon," Pierre says, shocked.

"I just don't know what to believe anymore," Marie says.

"When you do, just let me know and I'll agree with you," Brock says.

Marie turns to Mew, "Quick, Ash, battle it with another one of your Pokémon and maybe, this time, it'll use a different attack."

Mew then calls back Chikortia, "Right. Chikorita, return!" And she returns to the Pokeball.

Then calls out, "Totodile, I choose you!"

Totodile comes out and dances on the spot. Sudowoodo continues to do a little victory dance.

"Sudowoodo may be a Grass-Type, but it sure likes to rock," Misty says.

"Yeah. That Sudowoodo is funny," Tomo says.

"Yeah," Molly says as she and Jen laugh.

Mew then calls out, "Totodile, Tackle attack!"

Totodille uses the attack, but Sudowoodo moves to the side.

"We'll get that thing, now!" Mew says, and calls out, "Totodile, use Water Gun!"

Totodile then uses multiple Water Gun attacks, but Sudowoodo is narrowly avoiding the attack, and doesn't look happy about the water, also catching Mew's attention.

"Sudowoodo seems to hate that water," Misty says.

"If it hates Water Gun attacks so much…" Mew says.

"It must be a rock Pokémon," Pierre says.

Mew calls out the next attack. "Totodile, try a Bite attack!"

Sudowoodo turns and runs as fast as it can while Totodile gives chase, suddenly Sudowoodo falls into a pit.

"Did Sudowoodo use Dig?" Molly asks.

Maybe that means it's a Ground Type," Marie replies.

Sudowoodo is soon lifted up in a net, and it's trapped.

Mew realizes, "That's not Dig Attack! This is one of Team Rocket's traps!"

And with that, the motto appears.

Jessie:

Prepare for trouble coz we're in cahoots!

James:

And make it double, right down to our roots!

Soon, two trees hop in.

Jessie:

To protect the world from devastation.

James:

To unite all peoples within our nation.

Jessie:

To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James:

To extend our reach to the stars above.

Soon, Team Rocket reveals themselves.

Jessie:

Jessie.

James:

James.

Jessie:

Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light.

James:

Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight.

And Meowth appears from the stump

Meowth:

Daaaaaaat's right!

Mew says, "Alright, let it go!"

"You gotta be kiddin', yous two! Dis ting's goin' wit us!" Meowth says.

"We trees are leaving!" Jessie says.

Mew sternly says, "You're not going anywhere!"

Just then, James says, "Weezing, Smokescreen, please."

Weezing comes in and covers the area in smoke, allowing Team Rocket to escape. When the smoke clears, Team Rocket escapes with Sudowoodo.

"They're gone!" Brock says, shocked.

"And they took Sudowoodo with them!" Mew says.

Marie says in distress, "We'll never find it again."

Brock then takes Marie's hand.

Brock: Don't worry, Marie, we'll find that Sudowoodo! And if we don't, I'll leave my friends! And dedicate myself to working with you around the clock 24/7 every minute of the day and night..." Then Misty comes in as Brock speaks, and bonks him on the head with a mallet.

Soon everyone takes off, leaving Brock behind.

Misty growls in anger, "How about part time?"

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is contemplating Sudowoodo's type.

"So what do you tink? You tink Sudowoodo's a rock type or a grass type?" Meowth asks.

James says, "It's obviously a grass type Pokémon. Just look at it."

"Wobb-uffet." (I'm looking)

Jessie sternly says, "Get back in your ball! Nobody wants to look at you!"

Soon, Sudowoodo and Wobbuffet begin talking.

Jessie sweat drops, "This is going nowhere." then turns to Meowth, "Ask what type it is.

"Alright, but I ain't hopeful," Meowth says.

He then asks, "What kind of Pokemon are you anyway?"

"Sudowoodo," (Why don't we get something to eat?) Sudowoodo says.

"Well?" Jessie questions.

Meowth answers, "It says 'Why don't we get something to eat?'"

"Wobb-uffet," (Sounds good.) Wobbuffet says.

"I'm hungry, too," James replies.

Then Meowth says, "We'll eat, just tell us what type you are."

"Sudowoodo," (I'm the type that wants to eat.) Sudowoodo says.

Meowth sighs, "According to Sudowoodo, it's da type dat wants to eat."

"Wobbuffet," (As am I.) Wobbuffet says.

Jessie soon begins to lose her temper, "You're the type that drives people crazy!"

"Wobb-uffet! (Sure he is.) Wobbuffet says.

Team Rocket sweat drops as they slump.

Jessie sighs, "I don't care what type it is, let's just take it to the old man and get our boat ride."

Soon, the three find the fisherman.

"Well, you said you'd take it across if we brought you a Sudowoodo," Jessie says.

"And we've got one right here," James says.

Fisherman asks the Pokemon, "Are you really a Sudowoodo?"

But Sudowoodo doesn't say anything.

"Why isn't it saying anything?" The Fisherman asks.

"Maybe it don't like tah talk tah strangers?" Meowth suggests.

Then the fisherman says, "Well whatever it is, it doesn't look to healthy."

"I can fix that!" James says and brings you a Squirtle-shaped bottle, "TA-DA! I use this Squirt Bottle on Victreebel!"

Seeing the watering can, Sudowoodo panics and tries to run away, but Jessie and Meowth hold it back

Jessie cries out, "Hey! Hold it! He's only going to water you!"

"You'll look and feel much better after a drink," James says and is about to water it.

Before the water can touch Sudowoodo, the rope breaks and Sudowoodo runs away as fast as possible.

Jessie calls out, "Wait!"

"Come back!" Meowth shouts.

Soon, Jessie and Meowth chase after Sudowoodo.

Perplexed, James asks himself, "I don't understand. Why wouldn't Sudowoodo want a refreshing little sprinkle?" and soon realizes the group are leaving, "Hey!" Then rushes up to catch up with his teammates, "Don't leave me behind!"

Soon, the fisherman realizes, "Maybe I can catch Sudowoodo before they do!" and rushes off after it.

Meanwhile, Mew and the others are trying to find Sudowoodo.

"Sudowoodo must be miles away from here by now," Misty says.

Soon, Pikachu and Eevee spot something, and Eevee places her paws on Mew's leg, getting her attention.

Mew looks down and asks, "What's the matter?"

Pikachu points ahead, "Pikachu! ("Over there!")

Mew soon looks and spots what Pikachu and Eevee see, "It's Sudowoodo!"

The group soon rush over

"It must be hiding from Team Rocket," Mew says.

"Now we can take you to Marie and Pierre's lab and see what Pokémon type you really are," Misty says.

Sudowoodo leaps down from the runs and runs in terror.

Brock soon gives chase, "Don't worry, Marie! I'll calm Sudowoodo down!"

Brock soon gets in Sudowoodo's path, but is knocked down when Sudowoodo crashes into it.

Brock says, "Hey! Easy, now! I'm your friend! Like a friendly Lickitung!" And begins licking it.

"Are there any psychiatrists back at your lab?" Misty questions.

Mew then yanks Brock away, "Stop it, Brock! You're scaring him."

"Sorry," Brock says.

Then Mew kneels to Sudowoodo and says, "It's okay. We're not going to hurt you."

"Sudo?" (You're not?" Sudowoodo asks.

"No. We just want your help with something," Mew says.

She then brings some Pokemon food, "Here you go. You must be hungry after all that running."

"Sudowoodo," (Thank you.) Sudowoodo says, and begins to eat the food.

Then Brock says, "You can have as much as you want as soon as we get to Marie's research lab."

Soon, everyone arrives in the lab.

"Alright, Sudowoodo. Now we're going to do a few simple tests," Misty says.

Then Marie asks, "We saw you use a Vine Whip attack back in the forest, could you do that again, please?"

Sudowoodo refuses, and seems shy.

"I think Sudowoodo is a bit shy," Mew says.

Sudowoodo nods in reply.

"But I saw it with my own eyes," Misty says.

Brock then gives it some food, "Here you go!

Brock tosses the food and Sudowoodo eats it, "Now, how bout a Vine Whip?"

However, Sudowoodo refuses.

"Thanks a lot!" Brock says.

Then Marie turns to Mew, "Mew, I wonder if one of your Pokémon could get Sudowoodo to use its Vine Whip attack."

"We'll try," Mew says.

Pikachu then leaps on the platform for the attack.

"Pikachu, use your Thunder Shock!" Mew calls out.

Pikachu fires the attack, but has no effect, then Sudowoodo releases some of the leftover electric energy through its branch, surprising everyone.

"That was a Thunder Shock!" Misty says, shocked.

Then Marie asks, "How can it be an electric Pokemon?"

"I'm more confused than before," Misty says.

"Actually, I think Sudowoodo just uses the leftover electricity from Pikachu. That or actually, Sudowoodo can use Mimic.

"I think you're right, Mew," Pierre says.

And brings out a book, "And I've just found something in one of the books. This old research book lists Sudowoodo attacks, and apparently it uses one called Mimic.

"What's Mimic?" Misty asks.

"Mimic is an attack that can allow a Pokemon to imitate another Pokemon's attack. The trick is that it only copies the attack that's been used first, and the attack isn't that effective," Mew says.

Soon, Marie realizes, "That's how Sudowoodo used Vine Whip against Mew's Chikorita! By watching Chikorita use it first! And just now it used an electric attack, but only after watching Pikachu use one!"

"It may learn all of its attacks by mimicking," Pierre says.

"So the attacks Sudowoodo was doing was just copying," Molly says.

"Seems so," Jen says

Then Tomo asks, "So how can we prove that it's a rock type or a grass type."

"But we might have a way to find out," Marie says.

Pierre approaches the sink, "I still say Sudowoodo is a rock type, all the research says so. And rock types are weak against water."

Pierre then turns on the faucet and nearly sprays Sudowoodo with water, making it run away.

Annoyed, Marie shouts, "Turn that water off, now!"

"But it's the quickest way to prove that I'm right and you're wrong about Sudowoodo," Pierre says.

"Not by scaring him!" Mew angrily shouts.

Sudowoodo then jumps out an open window and runs away.

"Wait, Sudowoodo!" Mew says, and leaps out of the window and chases it, "Come back!

Sudowoodo continues running.

Mew chases after it as she calls out, "Sudowoodo!"

Suddenly, Meowth shows up, "You ain't going nowhere!"

The chase comes to a halt.

"What do you want now?!" Mew demands.

Then Jessie and James step forward.

"We want Sudowoodo because we're the ones who caught it," Jessie says.

Mew angrily says, "You kidnapped this Sudowoodo!"

Soon, the fisherman shows up, "Sudowoodo! I thought I would never find you!"

Soon, everyone else arrives.

Misty notices the fisherman, "It's that old man from the river!"

Marie notices him as well, "What are you doing here?"

"Marie, you sound like you know him," Jen replies.

"I sure do, he's my grandpa," Marie says.

"Your grandpa?" Tomo asks.

The fisherman, who is Marie's grandpa says, "That's right. When my favorite granddaughter told me she was looking for a Sudowoodo to do some research on, I decided I'd ask everybody I met to find her one."

"So that's why you wanted us to bring you a Sudowoodo?" Mew replies.

Just then, Meowth says, "Forget it, bubs! Team Rocket's getting that Sudowoodo!"

Jessie calls out, "I choose you, Arbok!"

Arbok comes out of the Pokeball.

Then Mew throws her Pokeball, "I choose you, Cyndaquil!"

Cyndaquil comes out.

Jessie calls out, "Arbok, use Tackle attack!"

Arbok charges in, but Sudowoodo dodges and grabs Arbok's tail before slamming it to the ground, knocking out Arbok.

"Sudowoodo just used a Slam attack on Arbok!" Pierre says.

"I think Sudowoodo WANTS to battle this time!" Brock says.

But Misty says, "I don't know. Sudowoodo's pretty hard to figure out."

Arbok gets up, Sudowoodo soon distracts it, and then leaps into the air before coming down with a kick.

"I believe that was a Faint attack," Pierre says.

"A Faint attack? How did Sudowoodo know that?" Misty asks.

Soon, Sudowoodo knocks Arbok down as it tries to kick up with a kick.

"Looks like a Low kick," Mew says.

"Low Kick?" Misty questions.

Jessie calls back Arbok, "Arbok, return." And returns it to the Pokeball.

Sudowoodo continues to do a victory dance.

"Sudowoodo uses sneaky tactics like Faint Attack and Low Kick, it's tricky, slippery and cowardly, we've found the perfect Pokémon for Team Rocket!" Jessie says.

"You said it," James says.

"WOBBUFFET!" (I agree!) Wobbuffet says.

Jessie then kneels to Wobbuffet and says, "Now, with a little help from you, your friend will be joining us."

"Wobb-uffet!" (Excellent.) Wobbuffet says.

Then Jessie calls out, "Now Wobbuffet will battle Sudowoodo!"

Mew then says, "Not so fast! Quick, Cyndaquil! use your Flamethrower on Wobbuffet!"

Cyndaqil uses the attack, but hits Sudowoodo in the face when it steps in.

"What's it doing?" Molly asks.

Sudowoodo then uses Mimic and fires a Flamethrower attack at Cyndaquil, but Cyndaqil quick;y evades.

"You see? Sudowoodo's back to using it Mimic again!" Marie says.

"There's no doubt about it, the evidence is undeniable," Pierre says.

Then Mariw says, "Sudowoodo copied Chikorita's Vine Whip, Pikachu's Thunder Shock, and now Cyndaquil's Flamethrower! It can copy all those attacks and more because it knows Mimic!"

"It even knows Mimic. It's more valuable than I thought," Jessie says.

Wobbuffet soon steps in

Jessie calls out, "Wobbuffet, get ready to battle!"

"Wobb-uffet!" (Roger!) Wobbuffet says.

Mew calls out, "Cyndaquil, use your Tackle attack, and hurry!"

Cyndaquil charges in.

Jessie calls out, "Wobbuffet, Counterattack!"

Wobbuffet uses a Counter that sends Cynaquil back.

"I've never seen a Pokemon use a Counterattack!" Marie says, and jots down some notes, "This is very informative."

Misty gets out her Pokeball, "Maybe my Pokemon can help! Poliwhirl, go!"

Poliwhirl comes out of the Pokeball.

Misty turns to Mew, "Have Cyndaquil get Wobbuffet's attention for a second."

Mew nods and calls out, "Cyndaquil, try another Flamethrower!"

Cyndaquil launches the attack.

"Wobbuffet, Counterattack!" Jessie calls out.

But when Wobbuffet prepares the attack.

Misty calls out, "Ready, aim, fire!"

Right on target, Water Gun hits Wobbuffet while the flames hit the ground. Poliwhirl increases the pressure and sends Team Rocket flying farther.

"It looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Jessie cries out.

Wobbuffet cries out, "Wobb-uffet!" (We'll be back!)

Sudowoodo soon begins to panic when the Water Gun rains down on it. Mew quickly brings a towel and covers Sudowoodo when Poliwhirl stops the water.

Mew asks, "There you go. Are you okay?"

Sudowoodo peeks from under the towel and says, "Sudowoodo," (Thank you.)

Mew smiles and says, "I have to guess that you are a Rock Types, because Rock Types don't like water."

"I think you're right," Marie says.

Then says, "We found out enough to settle our argument. Sudowoodo is a Rock Pokemon, that's why it runs away from water attacks. It only knew other attacks because it used Mimic. The research turned out to be right all along, but I just couldn't believe it until I saw it for myself."

"And I'm glad you couldn't, Marie. You see, we never would've learned as much as we did about Sudowoodo if we hadn't come here and observed the real thing," Pierre says.

"Next time we disagree, we should focus on the facts instead of on winning an argument," Marie says.

Pierre nods in agreement.

Then Marie says to Mew and the others, "We both owe you and your Pokemon a big thank you."

"That's right. Without you, Marie and I would still be fighting on those tree stumps," Pierre says.

Soon, everyone laughs.

Later, Mew and her friends are now crossing the river with Marie's grandfather as they say goodbye to Marie and Pierre. It's proven that despite its appearance, Sudowoodo is a Rock Type Pokemon, proving that appearance can be deceiving. Mew and her friends soon continue their adventure to Ecruteak City and their next adventure.

Sudowoodo, who is sitting next to Mew says, "Sudo Sudo Sudowoodo." (Thanks for letting me come with you.)

"It's no problem. I'm glad to have you on the team. Who knows, maybe we can teach you some more real attacks instead of imitating them," Mew says, and winks, "If you know what I mean."

Mew and Sudowoodo giggle at the joke with Pikachu and Eevee.
