Pokemon: The Master Of Monsters

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Vermilion City,

After exchanging their Alakazams back, Gary and Sabrina released them and examined their new forms closely.

Sabrina communicated with her Alakazam using telepathy, asking about the changes it had experienced after evolving.

Gary couldn't use Psychic, but he activated his Eye of Insight to check his Alakazam's stats.

[Pokémon: Alakazam]

[Attribute: Psychic]

[Level: 20]

[Potential: Quasi-Elite]

[Ability: Inner Focus (prevents flinching from attacks and negates intimidation)]

[Skills: Teleport, Confusion, Psybeam, Reflect, Miracle Eye, Disable]

[Intimacy: 180 (max value 255)]

After evolving, Alakazam had learned the powerful Disable skill, which allowed it to block an opponent's moves, rendering them ineffective in battle. This skill could be a game-changer since it prevented rivals from using their most effective techniques.

As they marveled at the power of their newly evolved Alakazams, a middle-aged man in a suit approached them.

"Hey, would you be willing to trade your Alakazam for my Raticate?" he asked.

Gary's eyebrows shot up in disbelief. The man was treating Sabrina as if she were an NPC in a game, offering a common Pokémon like Raticate in exchange for a rare, evolved one like Alakazam.

Sabrina, unimpressed, coldly refused, "Sorry, Alakazam is my first Pokémon. I'm not interested in trading it."

The man looked at Gary, clearly expecting him to make a counteroffer. Before the man could speak, Gary stepped forward, addressing him directly.

"Uncle, Raticate is a common Pokémon. Don't try to trade it for something as valuable as Alakazam. We're not children," Gary said firmly.

The man's face reddened with embarrassment, realizing he wouldn't be able to pull off his attempt to get a bargain. He mumbled a quick goodbye and walked away, clearly disappointed.

After the encounter, Gary and Sabrina decided to grab a meal at a popular local restaurant. Since they were traveling, it made sense to try some of Vermilion City's specialties.

Sabrina had no objections and followed Gary's lead. They ended up at a well-known seafood restaurant.

After they enjoyed their meal, Sabrina asked, "Gary, when do you plan to challenge the gym?"

Gary's main goal in coming to Vermilion City was to earn the gym badge, but he wasn't in any rush.

"No hurry," he said, reclining in his chair. "We're at the beach, so let's enjoy it for a few more days. By the way, we should buy a camera later and take a few photos as souvenirs. You're so beautiful, Sabrina, you must be photogenic."

Sabrina blushed slightly at the compliment, not knowing how to respond at first. She was used to being admired, but hearing Gary's praise made her feel happy.

After lunch, Gary bought a camera at a nearby store and led his Pokémon to the beach to relax. Sabrina changed into a swimsuit, and Gary couldn't help but appreciate the sight of her. Despite being just 15, Sabrina was already growing into a mature, beautiful young woman.

"Gary, how do I look?" Sabrina asked with a playful smile.

Gary nodded enthusiastically. "Of course, you look amazing! I can't even remember your cold, distant demeanor from before."

Sabrina, though normally cold and reserved, couldn't help but smile at the compliment. She didn't want to dwell on her past mistakes or the darker side of her personality, so she swiftly changed the subject.

"Let's forget about the past," she said, brushing off the mention of her previous struggles with her dual personalities.

Gary, eager to change the mood, took out the camera he'd bought. "Alright, I'll take a picture of you."

Though Sabrina had never been a model, she had an innate sense of how to pose. Her natural beauty and poise made it easy for Gary, despite his less-than-expert photography skills, to capture a great shot of her.

As they were enjoying themselves, a loud voice interrupted their fun.

"Hey! Where did this beautiful girl come from?" a man with blond hair and no shirt on approached them. His eyes were locked on Sabrina, and he ignored Gary completely.

Gary's instincts told him immediately that this man wasn't someone to be trusted. Without hesitation, he stepped forward to block the man's path.

"She's my friend," Gary said firmly. "I suggest you behave yourself and leave."

The blond man smirked and scoffed, "A kid like you has a girlfriend? You don't even have hair yet."

Gary's face reddened with anger. He was only 10, but he wasn't about to let a stranger hit on his friend, especially in such an inappropriate manner.

"I may not have hair yet, but I can find a girlfriend," Gary shot back, his words laced with sarcasm. "When you were my age, you probably never even held a girl's hand."

The blond man's face twisted with rage. "You little brat, you're looking for trouble!" He threw a punch at Gary, who was prepared for the attack.

With a quick movement, Gary grabbed the man's wrist and used his training to throw him over his shoulder. The blond man was sent flying through the air and landed with a thud on the sand.

Sabrina, who had been about to step in, froze in surprise. She hadn't expected Gary to be able to throw the man so effortlessly.

The blond man scrambled to his feet, clearly stunned. "You...!" He could tell by the way Gary had thrown him that the boy was a martial artist, and it made him uneasy.

Gary's combat training was no accident. Having trained with Ash for years and learning martial arts from Chuck, a Fighting-type expert who could spar with Pokémon, Gary was no ordinary 10-year-old. His fighting skills were honed to a level that could easily overpower an adult.

The man, realizing he wasn't going to win this encounter, quickly backed off. "I'll remember you, kid!" he spat, then walked away, muttering threats under his breath.

Sabrina, still a bit shocked, turned to Gary. "You're just going to let him go?"

Gary shrugged. "He didn't really do anything, just ran his mouth. I taught him a lesson, but there's no need to escalate things further. Let's just keep enjoying the day."

Sabrina nodded, and the two of them continued to explore the beach and enjoy the various marine attractions. As the day went on, Gary noticed that Sabrina seemed less cold and more relaxed. She even showed a side of herself that was excited and happy, especially when they went on some of the more thrilling rides.

When the evening came, they went to a barbecue restaurant for dinner, deciding to cap off their day with good food and good company.

It had been a fun day, filled with laughter and adventure. As they sat together, eating and talking, it was clear that their bond was growing stronger.

This wasn't just a day of travel—it was a day of memories being made.
